I could not stop laughing when I heard your analogy for using the SC. That one should think of it like using a mens urinal where it is common courtesy to always leave one urinal between two users....LOL !!! But I totally understand it now. And I will always be able to remember this when I am using a SC. Thank you

One tip I would add is when you have a passenger who is new to Tesla then walk them through how to open the door from the outside and from the inside. I've had friends stand there unable to figure out how to get in the car! One of the more common mistakes newbies make as passengers is to grab the emergency door opener when getting out. If I anticipate that and say "push the lighted button on the handle", they often push the window buttons and wonder why they can't get out. If they hit the right button then they wait there for the door to swing all the way open like forever! So I usually walk them to whatever passenger door and open it for them, showing how to do it. Then I point out the lighted door-open button on the handle once they're inside. It only takes a moment and they usually get it. Cheers and drive safely.

Ppl r stupid u open it basically the same way just put out ur thumb more and push. It's made to use ur left hand to open the driver door and vise versa... That's normal. Then it's insane that ppl don't know how to press a button are aren't aware with the change ppl need to be taught it bc it is the first one to save cars Like in school

I drive my Tesla for Uber and I have to roll down the window at least 98% of the time to explain how to open the door. I also tell them prior to stopping they need to push the lighted button and push on the door to get out.

Tesla insurance for my M3LR in CO is less than what State Farm wanted and less than they charged for my Prius Prime. The monthly premium depends on my Safety Score. I know thus insurance is nit yet availabke in many states, but recommend it if you can get it in your state.

@@calicol79 I am also in NJ, Try New Jersey Manufacturers insurance. They are open to everyone now and i pay like 1800 a YEAR for both vehicle, full coverage with really decent coverages. Geico wanted 1200 for 6 months for a 2018 for explorer sport. I got all kinds of safety discounts just because its a tesla too.

Our Tesla is a joy to own and drive. Insurance with our company is the same as our 2014 truck. Starting the day to a full battery is wonderful. Not breathing toxic gas fumes while filling a gas tank is great. For what I paid, for how I drive, I have to drive it 3 years then the price difference is nonexistent but I would never go back to gas.
@kiwijonowilson
@kiwijonowilson Жыл бұрын
Even supercharging likely is cheaper than gas cars as you are also saving on servicing costs (no regular oil changes etc) and is definitely cheaper here in NZ where fuel is equivalent of US$6.20 a gallon. That said here in NZ I often go for slower 11kW AC chargers when I need a break for lunch say - as here they are at most half the cost of fast charging and free in some locations.

@jremiahjones have you noticed the Tesla regen braking doesn’t slow down as much? I’ve noticed that after the last update regen isn’t as aggressive. I wish Tesla would give us the option to determine how aggressive the regen should be just like they have for the steering wheel. There should be light-middle-hard.

We bought a 22 tesla model 3 long range to save money. We were paying 1100 in gas per month. 170 miles per day 5 days a week. So the tesla saves us a ton of money charging at home or the super charge station vs gas in California. I love the tesla. The dual motors are awesome lol. We use to have a 2019 kia stinger 3.3 tt. Also the insurance went up 40 bucks a month. So the insurance wasn't too bad. I didn't know you were supposed to charge to 100% daily. We charge it up to 100% every day ar home with the mobile charger. Maybe we will drop it down to 90%.

I do not recommend start driving within 5 minutes after AC charging. Unplug the car. Go away and let it sleep at least 15 min. Do not use the app within the time of sleep. Go far away or disable bluetooth. The current software (2023.2.x) has a known bug with could produce errors on the next DC charge right after AC charging without a car sleep. Tesla said they are working on an update which should reset the PLC modem when driving. The hotline was not aware of this problem, the service center did. But the mess was already done and we had a ICE loaner. So let your car sleep to be sure it will DC charge on the road trip you've planned, and why you've charged beyond 80%.

So thank you for the video, I think you gave some good information, good tips, I mostly agree with everything you said, full disclosure I’ve owned my Tesla now for about 4 years and so most of the information I already knew, I also opted in for FSD when the price tag was 3K, talk about a deal, and I absolutely love it and I would be very surprised that within the next couple of years FSD will be something everyone is going to want, as it’s game changing technology for anyone who is paying attention. So it’s good to go back and have a refresher to ensure that you’re taking advantage of all the features you mentioned in the video. So here’s the thing about those who are making 6 figure incomes, and you’re struggling. I have absolutely no sympathy for you at all, because if you’re making 6 figures or more and you’re struggling, it’s because you’re a bad manager of your money, so what you need to do is downsize, cut back on your spending by going on a budget of austerity, until you can get control of your finances, stop spending money you don’t have, in other words, put away the credit cards, and learn to get more value for the money you’re already spending, shop around whether it’s for auto insurance, housing etc. You don’t have to lower your expectations or your standard of living, you just need to learn to spend your money wiser, and so instead of going out to restaurants, just cut back from doing that, and the same is true of buying expensive, clothing and jewelry, making sure you’re taking care of your healthcare needs, before they become catastrophic, and those expensive vacations put them off for awhile untill you get control of your finances, and whatever you do make damn sure that you’re planning for your own retirement, because if you live long enough, you’re going to wanna stop working, and when that happens, you’re going to need money to finance the rest of your life, or else you’re going to end up, spending the rest of your life under the golden arches alongside an 18 year old. So if you don’t give a damn about your future, I have no sympathy for you, especially if you’re making good money, but you’re spending it as fast as you make it, and so you my friend, need to get control of yourself, because out of control spending is what’s causing you your money, problems. Oh, one other thing, I don’t like your shoes, they are a croc. LOL! Cheers 🥂

I'm sure I'll get a feel for one pedal driving when I pick up or 2023 Model 3 on Saturday. However, it occurred to me while driving this afternoon. My father instilled in me to always keep my foot on the break at stops, in case someone bumps me from behind, so I would not bump the car in front of me. Can that happen with a Tesla?

Hi Jremiah. thanks for a great vid. we just got our Tesla Y (2023 Europe). couple of questions that you might know the answer to. How can i change the currency on my Tesla app ? seems that its locked on one without way to choose an alternative. when we did the test drive, on the same model, the car was able to show us the status of the traffic light (red.. orange.. green) we cant find this option in our latest updates. also maybe you already have a vid about it, but what would be the best accessories to get to a new tesla owner? what is you opinion about the wind spoilers addition to the model 3 or Y? do you know if there is an option or Tesla is planning to add this feature in the future for environment recording when the car is parked and smb or smth touches it? thanks,

Always curious about one question with regen braking….does the brake light come on during regen braking to let the car behind you know that you are slowing down? I always worry about the person behind me rear ending me by not realizing im slowing down…a red lit brake light would help get someone’s attention like when you tap the brake pedal on an ICE vehicle.

I am retired and thinking of purchasing a Tesla. At a Tesla charging station. Now long in time wise does it take to charge to 80%? Now much does it cost? Is the price for charging different from place to place. At home charger. after making a short trip. should you plug in the home charger as soon as you park?
@stevedowler2366
@stevedowler2366 Жыл бұрын
Definitely plug in at home every time you park there. I use a 120V outlet with the Tesla 5-15 adapter while waiting for an install of a NEMA 14-50 outlet when Summer comes. On home charging at 120V it takes at least a day if I've run it down around 10%. But I usually get down to about 60% after a few errands (I'm retired too) and it takes about 5 hours to get back up to 80% but at a 150kW Tesla SuperCharger it takes maybe 15 minutes. As for cost, your home charging depends on your utility, of course but under my local Time-Of-Use plan, it's 6.2cents per kWh off-peak and 25.61 cents on-peak! I really watch the charge schedule! I've found most SuperChargers run around 35 to 42 cents per kWh all over the Southwest. On road trips, it really pays to unplug when the Tesla says you can make it to the next charger. On freeways and highways, I can run it down to 10%. and then charge up to 50 or 60% which puts it in the sweet spot of fast charging where Lithium batteries like to operate and accept the fastest input rates (got a little geeky there but you'll catch on quickly). Hope you do get that Tesla and enjoy the drive, cheers.

Charging time will depend on your state of charge and how fast the charger is. If you pull in with 70%, it’s going to be much slower than if you were at 15%. If you’re at a 150kW, it’s going to be slower than 250kW (assuming you’re at a low state of charge). For pricing, just like gas stations, it varies depending on which one you’re at. I would not overthink fast charging on the road as most of your charging will be done at home. Just plug in whenever you can!

Just one thing,I'm owning two Tesla's and after 2 years of driving it I strongly disagree with going on road trips and trusting your car that 5% when you gonna be at next charging s stop. Give yourself 10% extra,i made trip 4600 km once and if I trust computer in my car I wouldn't make it .

there is a lot of gouging on the price to charge at charge stations. Leave the car connected after the charge is completed for even 1 hour and pay thru the roof. there is no reason for EV if the charging cost is the same as cost for non EV car fueling. Those stations get a lot of incentives when built. The main reason EVs never took off for 20 years continues now on the charger side. Incentives are not passed down amd therefore adoption is delayed by greed and even their own income. BTW, there is no way your home electric cost is only 6c/KWH, unless you have solar panels and they produce more than your monthly total home system comsumption.

Sterling, MA. Between 11pm and 7am .012 per kwh. They even give you the charger free. You just have to sign up for their program where they turn off your charger during peak hrs (5pm to 9pm). So, I basically charge for free overnight.

Sure you can. If you don't want to pay the 30 cents/kwh at a supercharger, you can also use a level 2 charger and pay quite a bit less. There are a lot of L2 chargers in my town that are free, too, so you can take advantage of those. All Teslas now come with the J1772 adapter so it's plug and play at the L2 chargers.
