1) Pumpernickel bread is a low GL food, mainly due to its high in SOLUBLE FIBER, which helps to slow the absorption of sugar into the blood stream. It also works to lower cholesterol in your body. And, get this: pumpernickel bread also gives you a helping of PROTEIN.

#5 4:15 pumpernickel bread, #4 7:15 green peas, #3 10:05 couscous, #2 12:10 parsnips, #1 14:15 watermelon. The rest: whole wheat bread, black beans, grapes, apples, peaches, oranges.

Which is why everyone needs a fasting insulin test. It will tell you how your body is handling carbs/sugars many, many years before a problem shows up on your fasting glucose test. The problem is that doctors don't routinely order it and some will refuse. Lots of doctors are so ignorant that they don't even know what it is. If that's the case then you need to fire them and get a more knowledgeable one.

You're welcome! Sweet potatoes are generally a better option for your blood sugar than white potatoes.

couscouse is not a grain. it's a form of semolina pasta. not saying the video is wrong about its GI or GL characteristics, just that there isn't a couscous plant, unless that's how you look at durham wheat.

What is the point of this nonsense? Glycemic load is simply glycemic index multiplied with the amount that you eat.
