Me and my mom found this channel the day I hit 6.5 on the A1C and was told I had type 2 diabetes, doctor said I could reverse it with exercise and good diet. Since the day me and mom found flavcity, we cut fast food and started eating right. 5 weeks in and I'm 30lbs down with my blood sugar went from 120s to 90s now! This is the content America needs!

Kathy, I agree with you 100% that these Doctors look and talk to you in that certain kind of way but are not helpful in the way you need. like the nutritionist tells you what not to eat, but there's no real education on why it can be bad for you. or for that matter where one can buy diabetic-friendly foods. they don't explain to you about the inflammatory ingredients so you make better choices. or that certain medication can increase your blood sugars. with Bobby Parrish, I am learning what to look for in healthy foods, why they're good for me and how to read labels. that is very important, so thank you, Bobby I certainly appreciate it.

I am new to the diabetic world (recently diagnosed but looking back, it's long overdue to make it official). My Father was diagnosed with diabetes and he reversed it all managing his diet. Now that I am where he was years ago I am literally crying and so scared. I have asked my pcp multiple times to refer me to a nutritionist to no avail. I have to learn how to eat all over again. Watching and listening to these online MD's has been extremely educational for me and I have learned what I can no longer eat (Which seems to be everything) I still didn't know what I could eat until I watched this video. Bobby, thank you for this educational shopping trip to the grocery store. I fear I am in big trouble because I don't like artichokes, I don't like onions, red peppers, green peppers, Brussel sprouts, zucchini and many other vegetables that are supposed to be good for me. I feel like I am going to starve to death and I truly feel scared. My health has become a mess in the last 3 years but now it's really bad and I need help trying to figure this nightmare out.

@VETERAN VS type 2. Not type 1.
@laurafitzsimmons65482 жыл бұрын
Type 1 Diabetes runs in my family (this type of diabetes is genetic and autoimmune in nature). My brother has Type 1 Diabetes and was showing the classic symptoms (frequent urination, constant hunger, constant thirst, cravings for salt, etc) at around 1-2 years old. My mother knew something was wrong but unfortunately the doctors ignored her until he was finally diagnosed at age 5 after being admitted to the hospital with extremely high blood sugar levels. My brother will always have Type 1 Diabetes (unlike those with Type 2, who can reverse the disease through healthy eating and lifestyle changes). Unfortunately for my brother his pancreas will never be able to produce insulin but healthy eating habits and lifestyle choices will of course help those with Type 1 manage their disease. You should have your daughter do all the testing for Type 1 Diabetes as it seems that she is displaying some of the common symptoms.
@rhiahlMT2 жыл бұрын
You can get a panel run without a doctor. It requires a blood test, there is no way around that. Look online for LabCorp. Look for their tests and request a C-Peptide test, this will tell you if her pancreas is working properly (that will show if Type 1 is happening). Also ask for a blood glucose test AND an A1C. You pay online and take the receipt down to the the LabCorp office near you. Take the results to the doctor. Normal ranges can be found online. If anything is outside the normal range, get her into the Doctor. Juvenile diabetes is an issue. So, check. You can get diabetes at any age. Some are later than others. Yes, she can have it at this age.
@rhiahlMT2 жыл бұрын
@VETERAN VS No, it is not possible to overcome Type 1. You will die without insulin. Also, there are insulin dependent Type 2s, rare but that does happen. There is also Type 1.5 which may not be able to be overcome. We won't even go into Type 3 and the variants on that.

It's delicious, creamy and sweet and doesn't make me feel like crap afterwards. Pretty high in fat, but it's mostly good fats being the cacao is 100% and the yogurt. You can also drink half and save the other half for the next day :) sweeten yourself with Diabetic friendly sweetener and you don't have to worry about added sugar!

I took 1 500mg Metformin for a while, but my Dr took me off of it because I no longer need it. I eat most of the foods you have focused on here, but you have given me even more ideas. I faithfully read food labels because big food Corps try and hide sugar, sodium and starches in most everything. I don't feel at all like I am missing out by eating low carb, high fiber. @@barbaradingeldein1273Bobby is not a financial adviser, he is not a physician, you have to work within your budget, even if the budget is low. A lot of the Asian grocery stores sell food at much lower prices than regular food markets, find one and other ethnic grocery stores, they are usually cheaper. Also try the food pantries, where I live in Ohio, there are multiple locations, I mean a lot of locations where you can get free food. Where I go they usually have tuna fish, steaks, chicken, some fish, lots of canned goods and bread if you can eat it. I have found that I spend less food on groceries eating a lower carb diet. Just stick with the basics: leafy greens, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, tomatoes, spaghetti squash, I buy a large one, cook it and the store some in my freezer, there is a long list of vegetables you can eat and really, buy what you can afford. No need to get angry at Bobby, do what you can to get healthier with what you can afford, another thing, try to grow some of your own vegetables, if you live in an apartment, you can grow like cherry tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, different herbs, I did that. There are a lot of videos on KZbin that show you how to grow vegetables in containers, this can greatly cut down on cost of food and look for community gardens in your area, find service that is offered, if you are 50 and older, look at AARP, they have a lot of services, go to your community centers, a lot of senior community centers have a lot of services. It is not a hopeless situation, there are things that you can do. I really, look forward to the day when food is not an issue, something that was promised to us all, but right now we have to do what we can do

I understand the struggle first hand. I'm disabled and living on a poverty level amount of money. Because I live with my daughter, I don't qualify for food help. It can definitely be expensive eating organic and grain free, etc. I think some of the most affordable ways to help yourself are to switch out your unhealthy cooking oils, eat that chickpea pasta and look into the dirty dozen vegetables and try to get organic in those at least. Aldi's and Walmart has good options and he has videos for these. Oh, and look for simple ingredients on the label. The longer the ingredients, the worse it is. All the best! (Possibly find a farmers market or co-op...... and ask if they have used pesticides or not)
@leolakimbler45142 жыл бұрын
You nailed it on that one yeah I'm 51 years old I'm disabled and I have diabetes and of course being low income I don't have any money left over to buy food that's healthy fruits and vegetables are so high price only the wealthy can afford it and you're right we who are on fixed incomes it's not our fault that we can't eat healthy like you said we're on on limited incomes when we can't afford this outrageous prices of vegetables and fruits and they're always hounding us you need to be healthy you need to eat your fresh fruits and vegetables well then help us out give us more money I guess only the wealthy can eat healthy which is unfortunate

At 69 and trying to make sense of shopping and preparing meals for myself is problematic what with all the scams as well. A new type 2 on a fixed income the cost is prohibitive. This us the best site I have seen. A book with a 30 day or weekly menu and prep on this site would be wonderful.

There is some great ideas and advice in this video. I know that brown rice pasta was mentioned although not recommended. I was eating brown rice pasta as a substitute for regular pasta. I recently discovered that brown rice pasta has a glycemic index of 95 which is very high! That's more than white sugar at 68. Regular pasta, both whole wheat and white, have a glycemic index of around 50 al a dente, if you don't boil it to mush. At 50, it is considered to be in the low 0-55 glycemic index range.

Wait Flavcity... you can DEFINITELY eat part of the leaves of an artichoke. You have to steam them really well, then you take each leaf off and the part that's attached to the heart gets soft, you can dip it in EVOO with vinagre and spices. It's delicious!
