Endangered and extinct animals have story to tell too. It is a dark subject but, their story has to be told. I have heard that our existence/environment is like tapestry, and all of nature its threads. Whenever an animal goes extinct it's like pulling a thread loose and out leave it threadbare. Soon it loses so manyit doesn't look like it should. When the scale is completely tipped nature falls part triggering an E.L.E. I hope we have sense enough to realize this and fix it.
@TsukiCove2 жыл бұрын
Thats a really great way to put it, people don't seem to care when less interesting or unloved species go extinct but each animal plays an important role in it's ecosystem and without them it can collapse. I hope we can fix it too

I heard that if you took a Blue Whale and a Coelacanth to an underwater cavern near Nagasaki and dug into the far wall covered in braille, then you'd awaken three sleeping golems in various locations around the island. Good place to go. I'm from there. Foreigners are more than welcome. No poisonous animals. Only animal's that might attack you, are dogs, rams, bulls, untrained horses, 9 foot eels or a person. People attacking foreigners is rear you have to push the wrong button with the wrong person in the wrong place. In saying that, follow the tour route, it'll take you to all the right towns, not the broke towns full of thieves and the like. Try Wanganui, go on a rowing tour. See some old maori villages, in some of the most wild parts of the north island your guide will translate. Horse trekking through the bush (forest), nights under a blanket of stars. Or wildlife preserves. The rustling under the leaves in the day is lizards or non vemonous tarantula's. If you meet the right guides, it'll be a lot of stories, fun and laughing. Bush New Zealanders have a childish sense of humour, especially if they are maori. Still telling jokes from a hundred years ago with a modern twist.

Another cool one to mention is the night parrot. It was presumed extinct for over 50 years (I think??). When I was younger my class was told to do a presentation on an endangered species. Even though it was considered extinct, for whatever reason I decided to do my presentation on the night parrot, and talked about how it could still be alive and thus was technically an endangered species(?? I was a weird kid). This was in 2013-recently live specimens of the night parrot were REDISCOVERED! Do you ever just… like a bird so much that you bring it back from the dead? Yeah me too.

If memory serves, the Tasmanian Tiger is rumored to still exists in New Guinea. Researchers have speculated from tribal stories of similar creatures that the Tasmanian Tiger may have once roamed across Australia and into New Guinea while there was still a land bridge. So far none have been found but there are still stories from rural arias of potential Tigers hiding in the more mountainous regions. Rumors and hearsay, but the exploration of New Guinea hasn't exhausted yet so we may yet find them there.

One of my personal favorite stories of a species thought extinct just to make a rebound is the crested gecko. They were thought to have gone extinct in the mid 1800's I believe, not sure of the exact year, but they were rediscovered more than 100 years later and have since went from thought extinct to least concern simply because of how well they took to captivity. They became one of the most popular gecko species among reptile enthusiasts, right alongside the Leopard Gecko! Today they can be found in the wild on the island of New Caledonia, France, but worldwide as captive-bred pets.

Apart from its extinct relative the Moa.” In Living Planet: Worlds Apart, David Attenborough said that there were 200 of them left. I hope they’ve increased their numbers since then. 4:31 I’m aware of the “Dinosaur Fish”. What? It’s the name given from one of the Documentaries one of Coelacanths were featured on. I think it was from National Geographic. Anyway, the Coelacanths are one of the the probably few dozen living fossils that survived the extinction of the Dinosaurs 65 Million years ago.

The thing about the coelacanths is that they were once a very diverse group of fish, living in all sorts of different habitats and occupying different niches. Today, only the deep sea species remain. The deep sea is probably the worst environment for fossil formation, but also one of the most stable habitats on earth due to the fact that its not nearly as affected by changes in climate (although we humans are starting to impact that environment as well)
