As a fellow woman in her 60s, I wish you’d stop saying how not to look old. I find growing old to be a blessing since some of my friends didn’t get this choice. I understand you are trying to share fashion tips and I appreciate them. Yes, we can age gracefully, as you said in the video…but we shouldn’t feel ashamed that we are looking old.

I agree! Focusing on “age” contributes to ageism across the internet. No matter what age, I have focused on being “well put together” and well-groomed. That’s the opposite of frumpy. Unfortunately, the algorithms don’t reward or promote positive titles. @Beth, please be aware of how this focus on “not looking old” contributes to ageism and internalizes this bias for women. Fashion has been a big part of our lives and we watch your videos to be inspired and cut through all the unrealistic expectations to look “younger”. As an added note, because of the focus on “old”, ads pop up that are even worse on ageism.

Knowing your body and what works best for you is a message that is often missed on KZbin channels. And, compliments are great, but first we need to build our own self-trust. I am even for not sharing my age. Not for vanity or fear of someone's judgement - I learned from a wise woman physician in her 90's that your age is no one's business other than your healthcare professionals (and maybe the government :)).

Great tips! I’m a 6 ft tall plus size woman in her late 60’s with an hour glass figure. A stylist in a well known plus size store saw me trying on clothes one day and encouraged me to go down size wise and advised me to not wear my clothes so baggy. She told me not to hide my figure. Best advice I ever got!

I am 5’11” and plus size. I would love to know where you shop to find long enough arm and leg lengths. It doesn’t help living in a region where most women seem to be 5’6”, so few stores seem to stock my length.

Oversized sweaters, boxy jackets - they both swallow my extra petite frame. Fitted is what I need and I see my seamstress regularly. So completely agree - and I do try to add pops of color when I can. Thanks for all the tips! ❤. One of mine : block heels are so much easier to wear than stilettos.

Wonderful guidelines! As a 76 year old and a hobby sewer, particularly agree with you about sizing and fit. That being said; as to posture shall add two more tips that have been helpful to myself: a) With arms down at your side, reposition them so your hands are slightly behind your hips b) Preferably when wearing flat or low heeled footwear; in a 'V' formation stand with feet slightly apart and apply more pressure to the heel area without raising any other portion of the foot. Both will realign your body for better posture and can be practiced almost anytime, anywhere. i.e. Standing in a check-out line, doing dishes at the sink etc. etc.

I would have to agree with a previous commenter that said that we don't have to be reminded all the time that we're growing old and our body is changing! Grateful that we are still around and we have the luxury to play around with the clothes that we possess and we can afford! I am carrying more weight than I like to admit, I am apple shape with longer legs and a short waist. I have found that DG2 jeans are wonderful for women of a certain age. Diane Gilman is the designer genius behind the brand and they are sold on either HSN or QVC (I can never keep it straight which it is) and at all price points. I find the jeans to fit perfectly or nearly perfect with every style. They have built in stretch (5% spandex) so they hug you in all the right places. They also have a generous return policy. I’m 64 & love fashion but I also love to be comfortable when home. I bought patterned leggings when I retired and with a tunic or fleece it’s just the ticket on my daily walks, housework or relaxing. I had someone say last week “you’re too old for leggings” well my only thought is “ while there may be a weight limit I don’t agree with an age limit”!

The main problem I notice the most is how women our age are so overweight. I think a lot of them just don’t care, but being overweight is the most frumpy thing we can do . European women seem to manage their weight much better than American women and they look very sophisticated. Frumpy starts with weight gain ladies!

Re: Clothing sizes. I usually wear a small in tops. I bought several Merino wool sweaters from Thred UP - major brands - Lord & Taylor, Banana Republic , etc. The one that was way too tight was the medium. I bought it thinking it looked pretty small for a medium and I was right. The other ones fit fine.

Totally agree on the jeans not all of us look good with skinny jeans but most of us do not look in the wide leg pants.jeans either. long straight leg jeans are very flattering for the average height woman of a certain age. One thing that has happened to me as I age (64) my feet have gone from a size 8 1/2 to a size 9 1/2 sometime a 10. Never expected that to happen... growing old is not for sissys!

( I have long-ish/trouble-ish feet {had bunion surgery on one foot at age 30} and it made all the difference, for me! )
