I just want to note that in the teaser, Ganon makes the Castle rise up with red malice (and the malice also always looks to rise), but the things falling down are colored green. It's a nice juxtaposition.
@Roriel Жыл бұрын
Wonder if the triforce is broken up between the underground, surface and sky, three seperated realms so no one could find all three again. In order to get them maybe Ganon forces the three realms to intersect. I always wondered if the triforce fell out of common knowledge because the royal family didn't want another civil war or worse in the pursuit to get it. So they sealed each piece in each realm.. Ganon seems to always know their plans somehow, so the intersection could be his counter plan to force the pieces in to the same world where he can claim them. Which could explain why the islands seem to be breaking and falling to the surface, they were forcibly drawn in to the world and the magic that holds them up is being effected.

Zelda has her piece, and Ganon resurrected implies he has his. This wouldn't be the first time link is the odd man out if he doesn't have his, but the gold powers of that new hand imply he has it, or the hand does.

What if the origin of the sky islands is that they were always there, but they were hidden beyond the cloud barrier. They are now visible because Ganondorf has somehow broken the cloud barrier in an attempt to reach that realm, thus the rising Hyrule Castle.
@Grimmjowluver123 Жыл бұрын
I kind of have a theory. What if the Sky Islands are remnants of Skyloft? While most of the residents left Skyloft after the events of Skyward Sword, and expanded and adapted to Hyrule, Skyloft is still up there in theory. Maybe some people stayed behind, not wanting to go the surface and continued to evolve/adapt. But over the years the residents died out (or perhaps became the Oocca) and the magic on Skyloft was dying over the centuries. Which results in parts of it falling.

I think the islands were always there, but rendered invisible by the sky barrier. When the dragons leave in BotW, they ascend through a portal to somewhere.

I actually had an interesting idea for the origin of the sky islands after recently finishing A Link Between Worlds again (I’m trying to finish every game in the series in order before TotK comes out). Anyway, in ALBW, some have already pointed out the design of the sacred realm is very similar to the aesthetic of the sky islands. It’s clear from the most recent trailer gannondorf is done playing around by submitting the kill order. My theory is that Gannon somehow figured out a way to thin the barrier between Hyrule and the sacred realm. He summons the sky islands after the Princess was sent plummeting under ground and the blade of evils bane was shattered. He sent Hyrule castle to the sky to attempt to claim the triforce and intends to wipe out all citizens of Hyrule to end the kingdom and prevent the hero and Princess from reincarnating to bring his demonic reign to an end. I guess that turned into more of a general theory towards the end but I still think the islands as the sacred realm is a cool idea.

You think the “lines” on the bottom of the sky islands could be the elevators from the Sheika shrines or maybe it’s malice that is pulling some of the sky islands lower enough to see them from the ground on hyrule.

My theory: Link gets Malice burned like we've seen, that's either a playable portion with heavy cut scene or just one long intro. When the hand fuses with Link, he gets transported back in time to the sky islands - IE the tutorial potion of the game and Link wears the Ancient Hero garb. Once Link has proven worthy of the new Powerglove he is sent back to his own time. BUT!!! Because now Link has knowledge and permission to go there, he (and by extension we) can now see and go to the sky islands that were once invisible above the cloud barrier. Cue the main quest(s) and game on.

Watching this video, I had the idea that the giant sky tower being a sort of hub where Link will have to return to multiple times. Kind of like the "Temple of the Ocean King" in Phantom Hourglass or where you place tablets in the "Chamber of the Sword" in Skyward Sword. Maybe where we take the seven tears after collecting them? In any case, as you've pointed out. It's been shown a lot and it definitely has an important role to play in the game. Excited to see what it is!
@JacobKeele Жыл бұрын
I can see it being part of the tutorial area as well. And with each tear collected, a floor of the tower is unlocked...the top being where Link opens the two giant doors seen in the previous trailer

I think the sky islands are the home of the Zonai, Whenever they disappeared it was them leaving to the sky like the Oocca and the wind tribe and they sealed themselves with a sky barrier in hopes to flee the malice problems of the surface. And that the castle rising breaks that barrier and allows us to travel to the sky. So I'm expecting a big reveal of the game is finding people living up there.

In one trailer You see Link grabbing on to a piece of rock on land before the rock shoots up at the sky, so the rocks that You see falling down in this video are ways to get up to a new section of sky islands in my opinion, furthermore I believe that just like in Breath of The Wild, the (zonai) arm of Link will be upgradeable just like the sheika slate in BoTW, in other words the more you upgrade the arm, the higher up you’ll be able to go

My thoughts are that the islands were always there, hidden behind a magical barrier (as we see the dragons fly through). I do get a sense that this may be Nintendo's way of reshaping the timeline by having all the timelines converge into one reality, hence why they set BOTW so far ahead in the timeline. Ganondorf has found a way of pulling all the timelines into one existence. He takes the trifoces of wisdom and courage when Link and Zelda reawaken him and he wishes upon the triforce. Just my ramblings. Keep up the good work!

My guess for those lines is markers, or the residual streaks of energy left after doing links vertical warp. The purpose is to make it easier to spot a island warp point on the ground, so that you don’t have to go through the process of reconnecting to a floating island again. A “fast pass” so to speak
@Kyzoren Жыл бұрын
My most logical pre-info theory on the Sky Islands in TotK is that they are the culmination and of all previous sky-peoples' cultures, essentially stacked atop each other; the higher one goes, the older the islands and culture (much like Skypiea from One Piece)... At the lowest level, the most recent to make their accent, are the Zonai, hence all that we see in trailers... but going further up (and/or in different regions of Hyrule), I imagine we'll see more stuff from previously known sky dwellers, like the Minish & Wind Tribe from MC, the Oocca's from TP, and Skyloft from SS... And perhaps the Twili from TP as well... Smooth segway into a 2nd theory, the Twili and Zonai could be the same people; the Twili's ancestors (The Interlopers) did manage to get to the Sacred Realm (which has always been shown as sky islands), before the gods/spirits stepped in and banish them to the Twilight Realm... But perhaps, said Twilight Realm is in fact the Sacred Realm; rather than being "banished", they were moreso "locked in", with a one-way mirror (the Twilight Mirror), and as such, that may explain why the Twilight Palace in TP is just floating islands... And perhaps at some point after TP, they were allowed to return to Hyrule, and eventually made their way to the surface becoming the Zonai, before plot reasons had them return to the heavens... Also, the Interlopers were depicted as Dark Links in Lanayru's vision/explanation... perhaps, this is connected to the green the Zonai use?

@todd3143 Жыл бұрын
i'm calling it now, the sky islands are where link trains and gains new powers to combat the real threats underground. so far we haven't seen the extent of malice in the sky kingdoms, but there are a lot of enemies from bokoblins to hinoxes in the caves, as well as malice replacing death mountain's magma. so the gameplay loop probably goes something like you travelling underground to fight enemies, realize you need more hearts or better weapons, travel up to the sky kingdom using the lines, and test yourself in the ball and the inverted tower presumably. i think the ball is supposed to be a observatory before it was lifted up, because observatories have that spherical shape, even the one we fought calamity ganon in. after getting strong enough, we could ride one of those falling debris to go down, or one of those free gliding bird platforms we saw in the trailer before. alternatively, spotting a falling debris and then reverse stasis them to travel back up seems to be a mechanic as well
@SogonD.Zunatsu Жыл бұрын
4:41 More interesting than the sphere are the vertical sky islands behind it. They are very far away and yet still seem to go further up than any other Islands we've seen. It adds to my theory that the point of the game will be to unlock higher and higher islands to reach the Moon and eradicate the source of malice that has been left there in whatever form it is.
@jaredponder4149 Жыл бұрын
I think more than likely, the higher up we go, the closer we get to divinity. The figures depicted in the mural will probably be there. If Zelda team is taking full cues from Princess Mononoke, Link is going to need to purify himself after being corrupted by Malice. Only then will he be able to repair and wield the Master Sword. How can he hold the Blade of Evil's Bane if he is infected with said evil?
@Lwiis64 Жыл бұрын
About the sky island's origins, I can't help but wonder if they have anything to do with the Sacred Realm or a similar godly realm. I say this because the Sacred Realm was depicted in ALttP's official art as a realm with floating islands. If the underground areas we have seen are in fact the underworld then is only natural to have the counterpart be the islands high above Hyrule.

With with blue flames, the weird particles floating in the air and the malice everywhere I wouldn't be surprised if it was the legit underworld.

Mystery 1. Waterfalls from the sky islands flowing down to the surface Mystery 2. A spheric island, probably able to visit the insides Mystery 3. The design looks like a holy place, so it makes a lot of sense that this could be a Zonai holy temple of some sort. Mystery 4. You will probably lift rock parts from the ground skyward, and they will stay there for some time. It's like a reset, so you have to redo some stone-lifts to go back to said place. Like the blood moon which revitalized the enemies, or what the song of time did in Majora’s mask- reset time to make things more interesting.

One thing that I can't help but notice is that the Skylands seem to be tiered. How high do we think they will go? We've already seen Link skydiving to them from, presumably, a much higher place. It's conceivable that Nintendo has only shown us, deliberately, islands at a lower level, and that they ascend to even greater heights. I can realistically imagine Skylands in the distance that are inaccessible until something is completed/found on the surface. I can imagine some that can only be accessed by jumping down from higher up. Leaping from one to another can plausibly serve as sort of a 3d puzzle or maze.
@jaredponder4149 Жыл бұрын
Just look at the ones behind that stone puzzle Link is manipulating. They extend far far above any of the others. Safe bet we are going incredibly high.

Those pillars probably aren't related to Link's phasing ability, since in the patent it appears to be a power. Plus, the same swirls of green surround Link's arm in the new trailer when he fires the homing Keese eyeball with his bow.

I don’t see the sphere with malice coming out at the time stamp you listed. I can see Death Mountain with malice coming out on the right but not a sphere.

He is talking about a strand of whatever that is, with something dangling from it. Zoom in and look closely and you can see it is tiny compared to the massive spheres. It looks like something you can break off and collect if you ask me. It is to the bottom right of the shot.

4:40 there is green energy coming out of the top of the death star its extremely difficult to see trying screwing with color settings on a picture editor 5:15 its easier to see in the fade out

Those are multi tiered sky islands. We see them in other shots.
