Ibispaint is my favorite. It’s controls are easy to understand and take control of and like he said, so much variety in brushes. The creator updates often, mostly adding new and useful brushes. Just recently, they added a hair brush and braid brush, which is basically a pre-made braid for you if you need to practice. By watching a 10-20 second ad, you unlock everything for 18 hours

It's nice to know that there are a lot of great free alternatives that work just as well as the more commercialized softwares like Adobe Photoshop or Procreate. I think the main difference between Medibang and Fire Alpaca is that the former has tools for comics and Fire Alpaca has tools for gif animation. Sketchbook has lots of brushes if you want to download them. I don't like GIMP it is just uncomfortable and weird. Same with Inkscape. I wonder why people don't use Gravit Designer... It is a nice alternative for Inkscape. You can even use it online, no need for downloads. Yes, Krita is freaking amazing . The tools, the brushes, the many work stations, the comic options, the really great animation tools. It is amazing. I usually start with rough animation in Sketchbook Pro and I finished it in Krita, with the corrections, coloring and so on. I wish I could said that Plastic Animation Paper is a good option, as working with it is fine. But exporting is a gamble. But there are neat tools in there if you are able to find them. It is not very intuitive.

I mainly only use Medibang for comic making and illustrations and ibis paint strictly for illustration on my smartphone, even after I got an iPad recently. Ibis have a lot (and I mean a lot) of filters and materials you can use to your advantage to make an amazing arts, though the only shortcoming is the restrictions with the pixel size . Having it record your progress in-app is pretty neat though. I find Medibang is better for comic making, though ibis also can be used for the same purpose (plus the materials is most abundant). The biggest pixels size I can get is 20000px (I haven't try to see how much pixels I can have yet on the iPad Version), which is neat if you want to make a big piece art or comic. I've used sketchbook before but ended up abandoning it cause I can't figure out how to really use it (I'm probably just dumb).

@@thebradcolbow I think the fact that Krita has been consistently improving for years, and the fact that it's a great example of open source software earns it a solid reputation. In the same way that Blender is THE 3D open source software, Krita is the premiere 2d drawing app if you're using linux. Mypaint is great as well. Gimp is also valuable in it's own way, but progress is slow, albeit steady.

@@badmanjheez before you begin your drawing, go to the image tab on your toolbar, select canvas size and adjust this to around 3000 pixels long and wide. There's some things about MediBang. Like you mentioned, MediBang and FireAlpaca are pretty much the same. MediBang uses cloud storage, but last time I checked, you need to have an account to use text (and maybe other things). FireAlpaca, on the other hand, lets you use text, but it's flawed in that the text can look... smudged or blurry sometimes? Also, you do not need an account to use anything; it's one of the easiest programs for creating brushes. The cloud storage might be more convenient for certain people, though. Depends on personal preference I suppose; I prefer to stick to something you don't need an account for.
