Great video and interesting topic. Leave-in conditioners are not too heavy, it is that they are designed to smooth and close the hair cuticles. Low porosity hair cuticles are already smooth so leave-ins often just sit on top and leave the hair dull or feeling coated. Even light, liquid leave-ins can leave hair coated. Conditioning ingredients like cetearyl alcohol can be in the most watery leave-ins and still coat the hair. Conditioners/leave-ins are best for correcting the ph of hair after cleansing, then rinsing out afterwards or the next day. They are designed for short-term increments. If they are left in the hair, the hair should be wet/cleansed often to keep the ph from getting too low on dry hair. Without water, the leave-in will not moisturize, but leave a coated or sticky feel. Hair milks on the other hand have the added emollients and oils that help penetrate and moisturize the hair long-term with out without constant wetting. Kinky-Curly Knot Today is a conditioner and leaves my hair shiny for 1-2 days then gets dull and dry if I don't re-wet it after that.

I'm currently using Lottabody coconut and Shea oils moisturizing hair milk. It's inexpensive, $3.87 at Walmart and works wonderfully. I mist my hair with water in a spray bottle and squeeze my hair to make it absorb the water before applying the product. Great for soft, shiny, moisturized braid and twist outs.

If you want your hair to feel like corn silk and shine even if your hair is damaged, it's a little bottle I found at Sally's beauty supply called Perfect Results Coctails, Bahama mama. So you need a spray bottle full of water because it's powerful and you don't need alot of it, so dilute it by pouring 1/4 in a spray bottle with water. My hair has been bleached colored, and I straighted it daily with a hot iron, so you could say it's a bit stressed, however I spay it with that after words and it turns to corn silk soft , so soft I can barely keep my hands off it! I have been searching for a product that would give me these results for years, I've spent so much money going through products to find the right one and for that reason I am excited to share what I ve found, so if you are going through the same , give it a try. A spray bottle of water and just pour in a shot , and after flat iron spray, yes after , nothing else.
@shantinamonque3 жыл бұрын
I’m going to have to try that!🥰
@saralenagriffith58833 жыл бұрын
Some women are skeptical because water after flat iron?? I'm like yes!! Results are amazing!!! Like cornsilk soft. It's cause it's so powerful I have to dilute it with water other wize it weighs down on hair too much, I don't like that.

Hello I am a new comer to your Channel, thanks for this info video! My hair is 4c Kinky Curly and high porosity( I think). For eight weeks now, I have been committed to having healthier hair after neglecting my hair for years. I had always been told that my hair was very porous so when I started doing right by my hair again I instantly gravitated to all products that were designed for high porosity hair especially because my strands were moisture depleted. My hair feels like straw. When I started using these products that were heavy, creamy and very thick I thought the results would be phenomenal. But 8 weeks later I still have minimal moisture retention in my hair! So I tried just a cheap milk shampoo from the dollar store and my hair softened! What in the world! Do I have low porosity hair or is my hair super duper damaged? Hmmmm, and that is why stylist has said I was high porosity it has been because my hair was damaged. So I will keep watching you try your milk products to see what results you get meanwhile I'm going to go back to the store and buy the cheap conditioner(leave-in) that goes with the cheap milk shampoo! I used last week. thanks again for the video and I'll see you the next time.

Thank you so much for recommending the hair milk. I just realized I have low perosity hair after 3 years. Not that I have been trying lots of products but just the wrong ones. I'm just happy I came across your video and now my hair feels so much softer and my hair isn't dry and brittle.

I been thinking about switching to hair milks because leave-in just sit on top of my hair and smooths my hair down which makes it hard for other products to get in. I might end using leave-ins for when I blow-dry or use my heat on my hair.

I started with the Coconut and Hibiscus milk by Shea Moisture. I loved it until I tried Maui Moisture 's Curl Quench . There was a patch on top my head that Shea moisture couldn't help me with. My only complaint for Maui moisture is it only comes in an 8 ounce. My two girls have curls too. Not sure the type or porosity but works great on all three of us. Plus there's a list of unhealthy ingredients that were left out. Thanks great video topic!

Could someone explain me what's the difference between a hair milk and a leave in conditioner ? ( I don't speak english well so don't really understand the video)
@TenaciousB207 жыл бұрын
loxena Sorry wish I could help... I'll try though..If you research Hair Milk vs Leave Conditioner here on KZbin you will more than likely find a better answer. A hair milk is not a conditioner. Generally people usually use hair milk as a hair moisturizer/styler after they have washed and conditioned or it can be used on dry hair. A conditioner is a product used after you shampoo/cleanse your hair. Usually you shampoo and then follow up with a leave in conditioner because the leave in conditioner helps to replace the moisture loss from shampooing (that happens to all naturals). However in the video she was saying instead of using a leave in conditioner use a hair milk instead because it's lighter and if you have low porosity hair it will moisturize your hair strands better vs a leave in conditioner . Hopefully this all makes sense 😊
