You do sound like Kasey Kasem...lol.....Another awesome compilation Derek!!...I just bought a creality 3d printer with the upgrade but I have not opened the box yet. I know there is a learning curve and I am using a MAC laptop so that will also add to it...

I would have use an ESP32 and WLED because it doesn't need programming. And has a free app to select and program the LED scheduling and scenes. And it has WiFi support..

The eagle eye LEDs are nice and bright, but unidirectional. I like 194 LEDs for car dome lights as they shine light in many directions.

I love all these makes but I do think the torch is my personal fave. My brain is whirring. I have bits of leftover pvc pipe - some from an old pop up gazebo that the wind promptly popped down. I wonder.... Cheers.

I grew up building Heathkits, and one of the things they emphasized was making a good mechanical connection prior to soldering. I would have had to shape the wire like a "j" and hook it through the connector hole, crimp it with a needle nose, and then solder it. I'm not sure whether watching you attach by laying it on top and reflowing the solder is liberating or whether it makes me want to scream!!! I do, however, love watching you build things. Keep it up! PS: In your production cemetery, do you provide some strain relief on the power cord?

I don’t, but then again, no one has direct access to any of it where it would be an issue.

I found the Great value brand Flame bulb runs off 5 volts after trying to find the 3v version Adam Savage had in his video. I destroyed the base trying to separate the lens from the base, but i was probably going to get rid of it anyway. I was going to wire 3 AA batteries but i like the CR 2032 holder so i might try that. Do you happen to remember the flame bulb you used? I liked that it had a base still attached to the lens. If not i should be able to 3D print something. Great video, great ideas!

I don’t, but if you click through on the video link in the description for that specific project it’ll have links for all the materials.

Halloween in Australia (Spring time) We can get plenty of sunshine so all of my lights run off Solar. There's lots of cheap garden solar lights (some have that fire effect) I can pick up and then find ways to put them into some decorations 😉 Have you ever tinkered with Solar powered LEDs?

This is probably a dumb question, but here goes. What guage/type of wire do I need to convert my battery powered props to plug in? I dont know if it was mentioned or not even though I watched the whole video. I want to start converting everything over. Ive held off for 2 years, but now it's time.
@VanOaksPropsАй бұрын
I typically use 16 gauge

@VanOaksProps Thank you for your reply. Second question, if you don't mind? Should I get electrical wire, or would audio work? I've got an abundance of audio wire.

Hello there again! I was looking at this and was reminded i bought one of those flicker circuits you so often recommend, and had planned to pair them with some string lights i ordered. But of course the flicker circuits end in barrel connectors, and the lights end in a mains plug. Is there such a thing as a barrel to female mains socket adapter?
@VanOaksPropsАй бұрын
Not to my knowledge, but you could always cut the plug off your string lights and add a barrel connector (assuming they’re LED string lights).

@@VanOaksPropsto soldering!....and to buy a wall to barrel adapter! Thank you for always being helpful!

@@VanOaksPropsalthough that being said, these flicker circuits are made for ac power. If I were to use an adapter to plug them into the DC mains, isn't there a fair chance they'll blow up?

I don't recommend anything from Adafruit. My stepfather bought something from them which didn't work and they gave him hell trying to get any help from them with it which seems to be a common complaint. They're a bunch of Wahmen which means if you're a Male customer you can expect 0 respect or professional courtesy. (They don't necessarily treat other women any better. So much for feminist 'sisterhood'.)
