If you are not getting proper hike and your skill is worth market standards, simply switch the company and put the resignation. Don't wait for someone to rate you. You are the best person to rate yourself because you know your limits.

One more factor ...keep looking for relevant opportunities in other companies.....if you stay in the same company for a long time you lose value and company takes you for granted....no hike and no growth... This is the truth which most of HRs will not share...

sahi bol rhi hain ma'am. I have experienced this a lot. I started with 5 lacs, and through hard work and clear communication, and switching projects now I make 22 LPA. It may not be the best, but it's still higher than normal. Moreover, I switched to a dev profile from a QA profile. So guys, do follow this advice.

I completely agree with point no. 4 that set expectations with your manager at the start of the new year because I have seen a major change in my last 2 appraisals because not only did I mention percentage but sometimes quoted where I would like to see my salary. Yes alongwith that I have been working hard and other references also have importance however I had that even in previous years but did not know that you need to demand as opposed to accept whatever you get. I ahve small regret of learning it late but better late than never!

All this advice does not hold much ground. The best thing to do if one has to grow financially is simple, while on the job, focus on acquiring a skill set, then jump companies do not stick to one organisation. Those days are gone. Somebody has said to love the work you do, not the organisation, as the organisation will never love you. The advice is sound, theoretically. Many managers do not know how to balance their job between Management and the employees. This is the root problem. They land up satisfying their aspirations. In that process, one gets sacrificed for shure.

In fact the same is true for PhD life. This level of congruence between relationship between Employee-Emploer vs Student-Supervisor is just surprisingly illuminating. It tells now how research work ethics are not different from working in a firm where the company expcets to meet their set of goals, just like a Supervisor will expect to publish a certain number of papers.

Whatever you have explained in the video, is only applicable to IT industry, in core industry pay and perks are very different, as here in core industry people don't have project related job activities, rather mostly there are routine activities, so your salary will grow consistently(like 10%/yr) but not exponentially.

More than project in corporate world, I have witnessed that it is the partiality, favoritism, chamcha giri for which the salary ranges are different. I do not agree that it is the project that determines, even if person takes difficult and most revenue generating revenues but if the person is not in the above categories, then most likely he will grow less and get less paid than the below the average performing chamchas.

Could you make a video on how to set expectations or how to ask for hike/promotion? In all the companies I have worked so far, I was working on the main flagship product/project, but always had hard time communicating regarding hike or promotion. I don't know how to start or when to say it or how to say it. I have been that "good girl" kind of a person who lets the manager value me based on quality of my work, but I have seen people who work less or were not that great in technical knowledge got promoted first over me.

I am working in a company for the last 4 years and worked hard, always accept different work to learn but had never asked for a good hike on appraisal and the result was that I am getting very less pay than my entire team and everybody had reached a good hike. Truth to be told, the Manager is pain. In almost all my experiences, Project Managers are incompetent, and needling with impunity. And no matter how proactive and willing to work on assigned you are, nothing guarantees progress. If you happen to make established folks go jelly between the legs based on your sheer capability, its death knell for you. On the contrary, folks who had made themselves comfortable in copy paste tasks are no threat to higher ups. They have traction and stability, while skimming the company

I've started to learn it by myself now my question is that how can I use that skill in my CV to make my CV attractive and get shortlisted? I was in 2nd year of my career, I did exceptionally well in that year, manager was super proud of me and she told me that I will be given a 50% hike in appraisal cycle, this gave me more confidence and I worked even harder.. my manager had to leave suddenly(things went upside down in her personal life); new manager came in.. I got an avg hike , when I argued saying "I was promised 50% hike, for my stellar performance"; she said- "do you have any proof, all team member can come and tell me this, how can I trust you?".... that day I learnt a lesson...."if its not on email, its doesn't exist".... So be thankful to you surrounding that taught you "email marketing" on time, else you never know, which way your story will go... I know its not great, but thats how things work.. All the best dear!!
