Just a heads up, I discovered my marks on the transducer for positioning the forward and down modes were off. They needed to be farther away from the perspective mark that I made which was correct. I have since corrected this but just wanted to let yall know.

How did you determine where to put the marks? I see now the new transducers are coming out with factory marks of the 3 different modes but mines less than 2 weeks old and I'll have to manually add the marks.

The 7 degrees tilt on the OEM trolling motor shaft mount will creat you a headache in down and forward view. It’s much better and easier to use the 0 degree mount (available on Garmin.com).

Good idea, planning on doing the same. I talked to Garmin, they said 12°

Worked great! Just bought exactly what you showed, bent the aluminum with my hand between two deck boards!

Fantastic!

Perfect....works as good as you say. The only thing I added was a one + wrap of electrical tape on the inside 1” pvc pipe to give more friction when rotating the transducer. Thank you for a real useful information.

Your welcome, and I forgot to mention the tape, I did the same as well

The regular mount is 8 degrees so with Garmin suggested 12 degrees its 20 degrees total you nailed it. By the way you can bend aluminium sharply with use of a propane torch. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing this. It's pretty crazy to charge that much for something like this. I'll definitely do this when I get mine.

Do you have a list of the ram mounts that fasten to the kayak. As well as the mount for the top part of the pole??
@djifishing84544 жыл бұрын
Hollow out the handle and run your cable inside the pvc . Leave a small loop at the end near the transducer for changing the positions.

Thread locker eats rubber and plastic. I dont use loctite on locknuts, but if you do make sure you replace with a new one if you remove.

i bought some RUS-10-018k p/n RPC2082-ND CLIP WIRE SADDLE from DIGIKEY electronics to run my wire through. you drill a hole in you tube and they just push in. i haven't tried it yet on the water but they seem solid

How are you able to mirror the screen on your phone with the 93 , I have the same one and I am not able to do that , I do not have the helm on my active captain, I also have a 10
@SouthernReelsFishing Жыл бұрын
I filmed it with a gopro and was streaming to my phone from the gopro. thats why i had the cardboard over the unit. Purely for the sake of filming it for a video. It is not capable of linking to your phone in active captain

How do you prevent the inner rod from spinning while your fishing?
@SouthernReelsFishing3 жыл бұрын
I apply a couple wraps of electrical tape around the top of the inner tube to add the amount of friction that I need.

Great vid thanks. How did you determine where to put the index mark for the perspective view? Also does your unit auto detect the perspective orientation? Thanks again
@SouthernReelsFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yes it auto detects. And the index mark is lined up with the middle transducer on the lvs32.
@stevem50664 жыл бұрын
Thanks, one more question..which head unit are you using? My echomap 93sv doesn’t auto detect the perspective mode
@SouthernReelsFishing4 жыл бұрын
I have a 74 SV. It seemed to Auto detect just fine. Make sure that you have it set to Auto in the menu settings
@stevem50664 жыл бұрын
My auto works on forward/down but not perspective. Called Garmin and they’re working on it. Thanks for taking the time to reply and again really enjoy your videos!

The length really isn't too important, it can be longer or shorter depending on what you are mounting it too

Forward scan is when top of transducer is flat n parallel with water.
@SouthernReelsFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you follow what they recommend, try tilting it up and see the difference. it will read all the way to the surface of the water then

I made one just like this and it works great! Thanks for the video. I do have one question. Are you sure your Down and Forward marks are in the correct location? I could not get my downview to work per your marks and when I go to Garmin's site it looks like they have the Down and Forward marks in a different location than your marks. It looks like your Down View mark is the actual Forward view location and the Down view needs to be rotated back a bit. Does your down view work when you line up with your Down view mark? Thanks in advance!
@KD-kf4zm4 жыл бұрын
I noticed the same thing. The forward-looking mode should have the top of the transducer being flat and the down-looking mode should have it angled down some.
@SouthernReelsFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yes my marks are off, something I discovered after making the video. I have since corrected it

Great I just finished putting the version you said not to buy which is a printed 3D version. Well I guess I'll keep using this one Until It Breaks. By the way has anyone ever told you you look just like Daddy Dave on the street outlaws. You even sound like him

Your Transducer angle for Forward and down are not correct for a portside mounted TD. See page three and four here. static.garmin.com/pumac/Panoptix_Livescope_Install_EN.pdf
