This is actually a really good idea. I think I’m gonna try focusing on improving my vibrato. I’ve started to play amplified a lot more, so I feel like it’s more important now since I can’t use my hands to get that kind of a sound. Thanks Tomlin!

Glad to see that sometime into it you sounded worse one day. I hate that. I'm trying hard to get a good vibrato and at some point I went from not to good to awful. I kept on and it got better. So maybe 10 minutes a day for February will get me to sounding good! Always , thanks for what you do! Quite a few guys put out instructional videos that are great, but you really have the teaching stuff down and take it to another level!

i use to practice when driving my sini down the road now they have cameras in the truck just like working in a factory they watch so no more practicing .in the truck

Dang ! You're a man after my own heart . I practice in my car all the time . I find that I tend to drive a little bit slower when I am playing . And it cannot be as bad as texting ! ! Have a happy day !

Looks like my haircut. The great thing about his videos is a matter-of-fact description of what he's physically trying to do, sans subjective stuff that is of no help. The old, learn-from-the-elders school only works when a knowledgeable elder is around, when that one is willing to spend time teaching you, and when they are still alive. As an afterthought, though, realize that just playing with breathing, mouth positions, etc. might arrive at your own way of creating a similar, or brand new sound, or close enough to work almost as well. What you end up with in sounds is always more important than whether you are doing it "properly." Butterfield held his harps upside down, which has never been explained or analyzed as either better or worse than normal. SRV covered Jimi but didn't bother relearning lefthanded.

I guess I should practice getting my bends to sound less like dying animals. BTW after listening back to a recording of me futzing around on the harp a while back, I noticed I had achieved a tongue flutter while moving up four holes in the process. It sounded really cool. Now, the trick is being able to do it again on purpose rather than just by a happy accident. I really need to be more disciplined in my practice routine.
