As usual I'm gonna be first in attending your classes. Hate to come late. I have a question related to the topic. How often is used in UK the idiom " Is raining cats and dogs" I saw a video of some canadian English teacher and she says that that idiom is never used by canadians, though I've heard so many times it being used by US vlogers.

That's a great question! As a British person, I would never say 'it's raining cats and dogs'. It's most likely an older idiom that people used in the past (maybe my grandparents' generation) but it's definitely not common anymore.

Thank u Grace for the beautiful vdo on idioms... I have one question... The last idiom to be on the same page is same with the two idioms... Birds of a feather n in the same boat? Idioms makes a language ornamental n beautiful... Like nip in the bud, don't count your chiken before they r hatched , fit as a fiddle ... If possible make more vdos on idioms... It's very interesting ❤

Hello! They are all a bit different. To be on the same page = when you think the same way or have the same opinions as another person. Birds of a feather = people who are very similar. In the same boat = people who are in a similar situation, usually negative. Hope that helps!

@@LearnEnglishwithGrace24 I have another question if u don't mind bcz the clear answer I will get from a native. Do the natives use subjunctive mood? Or is it obsolete in English. Bcz I know French n spanish... In these languages subjunctive plays a very important role... Thank u🤗

A : Take the bus to the town. B : I more like to walk. (if B's reply is wrong, how can I correct it without changing the verb 'like')
@LearnEnglishwithGrace24
@LearnEnglishwithGrace24 Ай бұрын
The best and most natural response would be to use the word 'prefer' - 'I prefer to walk.' If you really want to keep the word 'like' you could say 'I would like to walk,' or just 'I like to walk,' but you lose this idea of liking walking more. I hope that makes sense!

I’m sorry to hear that! But you used the idiom very well. Just remember it’s ’going the extra mile’ (no ‘to’ needed)
