5 Instagram Bio Tips & Ideas to Get Followers to Your Music Account

Getting people to visit your profile but they're choosing not to follow?
You probably haven't been able to attract them with your bio.
Instagram is a social platform, therefore people are used to seeing bios which are very casual or descriptive of the content to expect on the profile. But when it comes to artist profiles, for some reason a different approach is taken and the bio become an opportunity to advertise something that you have to sell, whether it's music, merch or tour dates.
This doesn't make sense, as the bio is only read by those who aren't already following you, once people are following you they probably won't read your bio again, so why would you advertise to people who aren't following you?
Instead, you need to use your Instagram bio to give that potential follower the extra push in to clicking the follow button, whether that's by being funny, describing the kind of content they expect to see or describing some form of theme or challenge.

Thanks. “Music is not in my blood” Sometimes one has to go backwards in time to appreciate the present and in my case, discovering the artist in me. You see I grew up on rock and roll but in my old man’s eye he saw me drifting to the dark side and he shipped me off across the pond (Bollywood land) for brain washing and for a while it did the trick but sooner or later the cream (love for rock n roll) had to rise to the top. Born in rural India, raised in NYC. From early on, I knew my calling was in music but being raised in a medical family put the lid (music was shunned in my family) on my passion and one day I reluctantly got on the horn and the response blew me away and immediately knew what my calling in life is. Out of rejections from other bands, I created my own cover band and wrote my first song but the success of doing covers gigs put a lid on my creativity. But thru the covers, I learned to appreciate other genres (Alternative, ballads, folk, Bollywood) and more so learned the nuances of singing in those genres. Forged great relationships with bands but none were more intriguing than The Doors, Nirvana, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Enanitos Verdes. Recorded original songs in 3 languages (English, Hindi and in Spanish) and had the wonderful opportunity of recording with the legendary guitarist, Felipe Staiti of Enanitos Verdes band. Music may not be in my blood but it never stopped me from pursuing my dreams and my creative journey has just begun.

Do you use light green and pink light for relaxation because I noticed you used the two colours a lot? i dont really agree on what you have said at ca 2:00. if you dont have something else than your streaming link in your bio it does not necessarily mean that you dont got anything else to show, but maybe the only thing you WANT to show and put focus on. thats why i only have a link and fitting caption in my bio. i think its very unaesthetic to have a lot of text in your bio, especially with the followed by section being highlighted and bold. the link really gets lost between als these highlighted texts in my opinion so my goal with having just a caption and link in bio is to maximize all the leads to this link and my music because thats the most important thing in the end.

I usually agree with all the things you guys are saying, but I think a couple things are iffy. Describing your genre in your bio is definitely not a bad thing. It can help attract your niche. Also, linking to your spotify track is definitely not a bad thing either, making it clear and easy to get to the track is better than having them scavenge, or looking through your account which they probably won’t do for artists who don’t have much engagement that you’re talking about. At a starting stage, putting something like a your website on there doesn’t make much sense, sense people don’t care about you that much. Linking the music or a Music Video (even better) seems fine. I don’t think anyone will be like “Oh that’s all he has to offer”, I just think it’s an understanding the person is starting out this is what he has for now

Map out the journey you think those people took to get to your profile (maybe there's 3 or 4 possible journeys) then write down what you think they know about you and why they're there. That will help you figure out what to put
