butterflies inspired coats, umbrellas and other rain proof products, apparently their wings are rain proof and humans studied their wing structures and mimic their structures for the rain proof products, beautiful, fragile looking... but strong!

I love this video! So interesting to learn about, and I love the narration! The only thing that would make it a little easier for me is a slight pause between "segments". I have a hard time processing information when there isn't a distinction between subjects. But otherwise, it's awesome, and I would love to see more like this!

@AnimalWonders I'm sure this isn't a new question, but, have you considered doing livestreams? It would certainly take some investment in equipment and perhaps a teaching space on the premises, but it would be a very cool way to present lots of your animals, including ones which aren't ready for in-person presentations, even after schools and businesses resume in person activities. I imagine it would be especially awesome for classes where you could limit viewership (or just chat) to the class and take live questions. Perhaps it would be even better on a platform that allowed for video conferencing, so you could see the class as well, or at least whoever was asking questions.

I so wish we could support live streaming videos. Unfortunately, the only internet service available in our rural area doesn't support it even at it's highest level. We're working on ways to improve and possibly offer programs through Zoom, but KZbin just takes too much consistent bandwidth.

You have many animals that you take care of. Some are pets, some are companions, and some are Ambassadors. My fiancee wants to have a pet raven and I told him that ravens have not been domesticated and would therefore not be a good pet but I told him that we could make an outdoor house for it and care for it that way. Other non-domesticated animals that we have been looking at are red footed tortoises, and monitor lizards, and maybe a snake. My question is: which animals in your collection are good companions? P.S. I love all of you and what you do.

Wind turbines kill huge numbers of raptors and bats.
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that's true. I'm eager to see if someone can come up with a way of producing energy without causing so much damage to wildlife and the environment. Until then, I'd like to support the least harmful method.
@Kalleosini4 жыл бұрын
how is that? do the birds fly into them and get injured? if it is because they cannot see the turbines perhaps a solution could be as simple as painting them.
@TheAyeAye14 жыл бұрын
Ebon Hawk Painting does help with some of the raptors. The air pressure drop around the turbines is enough to actually pull the lungs out of bats.

But in comparison to the deaths caused by fossil fuels, it's absolutely miniscule. And technology will improve and lessen deaths. Fossil fuels poison literally every living thing.

Hi Taylor and Jessi I am really struggling with my new and first lovebirds, I have 2 and none of them like any of us. They are about 4 months old and they have a really nasty bite. I have not been bitten myself but my mum has been multiple times. I am in need of your expertise. What do you recommend me doing
@summer61004 жыл бұрын
the biting probably means they're scared. watch their communication carefully to figure out what is scaring them, and adjust it. do everything you can to prevent the biting, before it becomes a pattern. go slow, be patient.

I'm by no means an expert, but sometimes animals will associate hands with getting food. If you think that may be the case, you might be able to retrain her to recognize a different signal/item with food! Like every time food is involved, show a red folder or something before giving it?
