Interesting ! How come you prefer Jake over Zakk or Randy ?
@Fhlkx1
@Fhlkx1 2 ай бұрын
@Thedudemannn I dont like Randy's tone, Its unfortunate he left so young. Who knows what he would have done. I prefer him to Zack's tone to processed. Jake is #1 because of his tone his style and songwriting. Randy 2 because of Goodbye to Romance and a few other great songs but I dont like his tone. Zack era some good stuff but overprocessed and the whale that is his signature but overused for me is 3. Jake and Randy are legends that are reveared and fans want more from.even if Jakes writes new songs and Not my thing his tone is awesome.Randy had a style that I might like his song but not that tone

Waiting For Darkness is one of the greatest songs of all time, not to mention one of the greatest Ozzy/Jake songs. I’ve been a guitar player my whole life and for the life of me, I’ve never been able to get that pattern down, and make it sound proper. I have a great friend who shares the same issue! I’d like to hear Rock ‘n’ Roll Rebel! Killer of Giants was spot on! Excellent work, as always Michael!!

The tone for riff 5 high gain, at 6:17 is perfect. Kinda scoopy lower mid, hollow Marshally thing most modded Marshall amps seem to lose and plenty crisp and articulate without being too reedy like a stock 800 or too compressed like a boosted one. JEL20 does not do this as far as I've heard (EL34 richness) and not all Marshalls, either. Am I hearing this right? And if that Les Paul still has Lollar Imperials in it, are they low or high output versions? Thanks, still tonequesting!

JEL vs Plex? Thoughts?
@BigHairyGuitars
@BigHairyGuitars 2 ай бұрын
I think they live in the same world. Really raw wild. If you can run super wild, then the Plex is super fun. If you need bedroom volume, the JEL is capable of plexi style at bedroom volumes.

Great amp sound! Have you tried comparing a real Jake E Lee amp to the IR-J pedal? I would love to hear a comparison like that somewhere so I know if I should buy a head or just an IR-J pedal abd run it through the FX Loop. I would like someone to make a video with such a comparison. Great channel and sound!
@BigHairyGuitars
@BigHairyGuitars 2 ай бұрын
Hi Ned. If you run the IR-J into the power section of the JEL50, they're SUPER similar. Also when I run the JEL50 into my BE-100 it's a very similar vibe. The IR-J is definitely a cheaper entry into the JEL sounds.

SS v2 is much closer to the BE / IRX. The Jake is the most Un-Friedman Friedman amp (to me). It's really raw and ferocious, in a different way than the SS, BE, JJ, Runts, are the more refined / perfected Marshall.
