I'm a new convert to the church and this stuff your teaching here is probably the most important that we can hear. I'm surprised that the missionaries barely knew any of this. The King Follett Discourse should be required study for every Latter-Day Saint.

@parker_chess I'm also a convert however from a long time ago. I met the missionaries after I got out of the Army in 1975 but I agree with you 100 percent but perhaps it could be added to the new convert lessons at church. I think you made a great suggestion.

@@Forestgump12able You should never be so rude to new converts and typing in all caps wasn't necessary it's just more of something you should know better. Show your good side more often and you'll make a more harmonious outcome.

Brother Dunford. First of all thank you so much for all your classes. I’m learning more than I have learned in 50 years! You are just an incredible Teacher! You just increased my light! I just had a aha moment or epiphany. When you were talking about receiving more light and obedience it totally hit me: More light meaning promptings of the Spirit and obedience means following and being obedient to those promptings. The more we obey the promptings from the Spirit or Holy Ghost the more promptings we will receive! Light bulb moment for me indeed. I have heard it said somewhere that the more we can follow more promptings and bless peoples lives the more and more promptings we will receive! Because God can trust us with more knowledge and guidance! Grace for Grace!

I had read the King Follet Discourse on my own and had gained many new insights but then through hearing your earnestness and humility and your insights made me see even more! More light! Thank you Brother Dunford for pointing us to the light! I look back sometimes with regret as I raised my children, wishing I had been more intentional. You helped me to realize I was doing the best I could with the light I had in my life at that time. The Lord understands we would make mistakes with our limited light. I am grateful for Christ's Atonement, not only for my life, but to help my children overcome the effects of my imperfect parenting in their lives.

I can so fully relate. That gap he speaks of between point a and b, etc, is literally a 'divine discontent' meant to point and pull us forward, not to beat ourselves up with and punish ourselves with eternal regret. Life changing. ❤

@@DedeMattix WORD - "divine discontent" - i love that. it totally describes that essential part of the process of spiritual growth aka Eternal Progression aka spiraling upward/forward/onward. Instead of becoming complacent, by getting dangerously content with where we're at, it's that "divine discontent" that keeps us longing for more, reaching for more.."improvement and progression have one eternal round" (-"If You Could Hie To Kolob" lyrics).

A critical component to learning to become God is to achieve complete unity with our spouse. Scripture teaches us the image of God is both Male and Female. Without both Male and Female, there is no creation of life, and therefore no God. Eve was created as Flesh of Adam's flesh, and they were commanded to return to a state of being one flesh to fulfill the measure of their creation, which is to become Gods, ready to create spirit children. Neither the Man, nor the Woman can accomplish this without the other. Complete marital unity in body, heart, mind and soul is the only way we can fulfil the measure of our creation.

You know, I a couple years ago, I thonk it was in the summer of 2020, I had this exact revelation. My logic was simple. If I can become like my Heavenly Father, doesn't that mean that my Heavenly Father was like me? I prayed about it to know whether this was true or not, and I came to the understanding that it was true. Recently, I told my wife this revelation. I had baptized my wife two years ago, but she after reading anti-Joseph Smith Jr. literature, she decided to leave the Church. My wife then decided to simply continue to be a spiritual person than a religious person, as she was before she met me. When I told her this, she was confused, and told me that what she was telling me sounded a lot like the story of Jesus Christ. I know that a piece of her knows what I was saying, but I knew that what I was saying was too hard of a subject for her to fully comprehend at the moment. Maybe someday she will understand.

I Understand the character of God, hes a being who comes from another earth planet in outer space. Joseph was right. God who is at many levels encourages his saints to LEVEL UP until they reach up to his level. God has MANY LEVELS. So it takes a long time.... You go from one level of light to another. That is what the gospel is. We grow from one small tiny candle of light into a great and shining star. For that's what Celestial resurrected beings are. "We have a more sure word of prophecy, whereunto ye do well that ye take heed as unto a light that shineth unto a dark place, until the day dawn and the day star arise up in your hearts'. 2 Peter 1:19

@@hollayevladimiroff131 The difference between a body of flesh and bones and blood is this. A body of flesh and bones and blood cannot live with God in heaven BUT A Resurrected Immortal Body of Flesh and Bones CAN live in heaven with God. There's No Conflict because the scriptures teach this... That's why the angles who came down from heaven as recorded in the accounts of the Bible have got immortal bodies of flesh and bones. not bodies of flesh and blood. And we know the Angles of God have got bodies of flesh and bones because they were busy eating food from Lot's own table. That Lot had prepare for them to eat. Paul died around 63 ad so Paul has got no updates on the gospel because he died.. JOHN in the Book of Revelations.HAS THE UPDATE after Paul's writings and he tells who it is who will preach the gospel in the last days for Paul aint updated because he never had received the book of Revelations to update his writings so he had no clue about what John was shown for paul wasn't revealed that knowledge that John was revealed by the angle of heaven.. So the writings of paul are incomplete. For the angle came to John to reveal what God was going to do in the last days.

I’m just now reading the Book of Mormon for the first time. And I have a question. It says many times in the book that God is eternal. If this is true then how in King Follet discourse does Joseph say God was once created and lived on a planet and became exalted? This seems a major contradiction. Please help me understand the LDS view. Thanks.

You are asking someone in TIME, to explain Someone and a state that is OUT OF TIME. That I cannot adequately do. I am simply climbing up that same ladder hoping to fully understand some day. “Eternal” means so much more that simple lasting a long time. Eternal is a separate state. I suppose that is why Moses was told, “But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you.” That is where I choose to focus. Grace for grace progression here in this world

See D&C 19:4-12. Note the words, "endless" and "eternal". We think of these terms in the finite. But these are also names of God. So when you read in verse 11 & 12, "Eternal punishment is God's punishment. Endless punishment is God's punishment", it doesn't mean your punishment lasts forever. It means your punishment is GOD'S punishment, ie HE sets the terms. Afterall, Eternal and Endless are two of His many names. Maybe your punishment ends immediately after your confession because at that moment, you truly have a broken heart and contrite spirit (keep reading the BoM, there are many examples of this). Or maybe it takes eons before you to realize the error of your ways. Anyway, I hope this at least helps a little with perspective. For the most part, today's lack inspired Bishop will give you a set time, depending on the sin, not to take the sacrament or take away your temple recommend for a year, no matter your contrition. Nevertheless, trying to teach this doctrine is a fool's errand without prerequisite knowledge and faith, coupled with the knocking down of MANY false traditions within the LDS church itself. The church spits upon Joseph, claiming he taught and practiced polygamy, had sex with minors. He did not (there are many books, articles, & YT's on this). They discard his early teachings which were originally in the D&C, favoring instead the words of so-called modern prophet, seers, & revelators who regurgitate each other's words every 6 months in conference. It is but vomit unto the Lord. THEY are the ones fulfilling the evil side of the prophecy equation that Joseph's name will "be had for both good and evil". It's a crying shame, but they are too far invested. But keep plugging away, and do what Christ would do in your place - ALWAYS.

That hasn't been revealed and it wouldn't matter if it did because we worship only the Father, the creator of our spirits through his son Jesus Christ, the creator of heaven and hearth, in the Holy Spirit. If the Father didn't have a Father, was he wherever he was by himself? Where did he come from? I find it hard to understand how just 1 person existed all by himself eternally.

The true God, the God of the Bible, has revealed that He is the one true God Who is from everlasting to everlasting, and that He is three in one, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. God is uncreated, has always been and always will be God, the only one Who has inherent immortality. The whole universe has been created by Him. It began to exist. God has no beginning of existence. The one God is a mysterious eternal union of three, made known to us as Father, Son/Word, and Holy Ghost, God in Himself has never been alone, and did not need to create anything. He has created out of an overflow of the love of the three in one. @@gbengoosewuru4139

The Mormons think God is an exalted man, so he is not a biblical God. "God is an exalted man, he was just like us, but now is an exalted man. Joseph Smith, teachings of Joseph Smith. John 4:24 God is spirit. and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth". What you are saying is an untruth. "If someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God", 1John 4:3. Gal 1:9 "As we have said, before now, I say again, if ANYONE preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let them be cursed."

If you read the Joseph Smith papers there are journal entries of people that attended meetings and sermons given by Joseph Smith. In some of these Joseph Smith is quoted as saying that God is a being of spirit. He can be an exalted man and be a spirit these 2 things are not necessarily separate or exclusive things. Aren't we spiritual beings living a mortal life/experience? If I call you a spiritual being or a mortal man it is still true. Exalted man or Exalted spirit it is the same and it is God and it is true. Whether Jesus says thy sins are forgiven you or says be healed and take up they bed it is the same. The Pharisees argued over syntax and wording as well and they lost sight of the truth being taught. Don't get so caught up in the syntax that you fail to see the spiritual truths being taught.

If you are sincere, please update your misstatement. Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. Written by Brigham Young. After he was killed by a mob of… true biblical Christians? Please allow Brigham some space to vent his feelings about the loss of his great friend and priesthood leader. BTW, Our Savior was killed by hard hearted people with similar motives. As Christians, we should come together to fight the true evil that is rising up to destroy Gods children through vice and immorality. Not each other. God bless.

I think you are referring to this quote “Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it.” This was a quote from John Taylor not Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith did not put himself above God or Christ. This quote doesn't put Joseph above God or Christ either.

Well, Jesus said if we believe in him we would do more. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12). Paul spoke in a similar way somewhere in 2 Corinthians
