Thats not for sure, if the attacker is full of adrenaline and anger then it might not even affect them or have a delayed effect. This would be more than enough time for a knife attack to be deadly. not to speak of people having taken drugs, these guys can at times not even be stopped by bullets.

@@FuryoTokkosho there’s no delayed effects on head knockouts, only body shots. I assure you, if Jeff didn’t pull the kick (the momentum was already there), the attacker would have dropped like a sack of bricks. The attacker claims up and down that he somehow stopped the kick or that Jeff was knocked back by his apparently great hulking power, but in my opinion he just can’t cope with the idea of getting knocked out in the first second.

I believe that Jeff should have been given proper credit for the first kick after a review. This was a classic sparring pull. Jeff could have 100% turned into the kick more. He pulled it. His pivot foot didn't rotate fully as you would normally see in a match with intent to knock someone out. If it was a non-pro fighter, it would be fair to say that he wouldn't have had enough practice actually following through with the kick. I think that it is clear that Jeff is sufficiently trained to be capable to hitting that kick with full power on demand. For most people though, you are what you practice. If you are always pulling your kick at that height, and aren't practicing doing KO power that high, you won't be able to do it come an actual situation.

Yo Jeff, huge respect for all the amazing content you’ve been dropping, your deep dives into grappling styles are on another level. But there’s one major gem you’re sleeping on: Kurash. Trust me, if you haven’t looked into it yet, you’re missing out on something that could completely change the way people think about grappling. Kurash is ancient, like over 2,000 years old, and it’s built on straight-up power, efficiency, and real-world effectiveness. The whole thing is about throwing your opponent to the ground while staying on your feet with no crazy ground game, no wild submission attempts. Just pure control, balance, and leverage. You get them on their back quick without wasting any time or energy. And the best part? It works in ANY situation, whether they’re wearing a jacket, a T-shirt, or even no shirt at all. Doesn’t matter. You stay on your feet, you dominate, and it’s effective every time. What makes Kurash so deadly is its simplicity with no complicated grips or flashy moves. Just get in close, control the body, and throw. It’s like if grappling had a fast-forward button; everything’s direct, to the point, and designed for real-world situations. No fluff, no filler, just brutal practicality. This is one of the most underrated grappling styles you’ll ever come across, and it’s been working for thousands of years... there’s a reason it’s still around. I guarantee your audience will flip when they see you break down Kurash. It’s like the missing piece to the grappling puzzle, they won’t even see it coming. You’ll be introducing something that’s been around forever, but no one’s really talking about it. This is an opportunity to bring something raw, real, and effective into the spotlight. Trust me, people will eat this up. I seriously think this would be one of your best videos yet straight to the point, powerful, and incredibly practical. What do you think? This one is too good to ignore.

Another aspect no one is talking about is how attackers are willing to go ground in this controled scenario. In real life, even if you managed to fatally injure someone like Jeff Chan, he can still slam you on the ground as his last f you-shot, and if you, as an attacker, get slammed on the concrete in the wrong way, well, you can die, too. These challenges treat attackers like terminators, but in real life, a determined defender can be the cause of the attackers' death even after getting fatally stabbed. The bitter truth cuts both ways.

But, the self-defence pen going to the eye and knee definitely landed and would have worked. I didn't notice either in the original video to it was great to get this breakdown. I was just thinking about this before i saw this video on my feed. Bro, it would be so much better to defend a knife attack with a shirt, cloth, or at least a nearby long range weapon. Growing up watching Jackie Chan films & observing Bruce Lee martial arts books, i noted how Jackie in his films tended to be more effective in always taking off his jacket or using some clothing to the same effect of wrapping around the knife to dull its stabbing ability or altogether cancel it out via locking it in the clothing. A backpack would act as a great shield like tool similarly. Bruce, despite being the true martial artist that he was, tended to show far fetched illustrations of kicking the knife out of their hand etc. He was a realist though so he surely knew & often stated martial arts are inferior to weapons etc & i bet if he lived to see it, he would agree & instill the idea that using clothing is the average guys best defense in a knife attack. Without clothing, my next best thought would be to grapple with that arm. Its not the hardest thing in the world to control one arm of a person via grabbing it with both arms...it may put you in a bad grappling position but most people trying to stab you cant grapple & will forget for moments at a time that they have another arm they can use but even then, that arm is alone due to the knife arm being occupied vs you using both your arms & all your body weight to grapple & control that arm close range. They may get a cut off or two but your survival chances go up when you succeed in stopping the knife or even taking the knife & using it against them. The only kicks i would throw are low kicks to trip the guy & id use boxing footwork to diagonal pivot out of harms way as the knife hand is getting in range & then id double handed grab the arm or wrist & give up my back(spinning into them during that pivot) while putting my all into controlling the knife hand. Never in a million years would i try to throw a knock out punch or kick at a person with a knife who is on the attack, its just too wreckless & likely would end up like this video showed. Neat stuff to contemplate & train but scary irl if you dont have a great strategy. To Bruce Lee's point though, there are actually times in a slow paced knife fight where you can realistically find a moment to kick the hand of a person holding the knife(especially if theyre distracted) & they possibly drop it because most people hold knives in such a way that their untrained human grip cannot effectively secure. Its however when they hold the knife with the blade downwards under their pinky(opposed to over their thumb) that they truly become unmanageable without that jacket, bag, or long range weapon to assist you. As fake as Jackie's fights are in his films, that is maybe the most effective thing hes ever contributed to the idea of real street fights(using weapons effectively like fighting fire with water so to speak).

Nice work, Jeff 🏆 As everyone's said on this and Rokas' video, it's hard to judge these things properly. I will say that, by your own admission, you pulled your head kicks rather than knocking your attackers out cold. From what I can tell, Jeff Phillips and his guys expected you to use full force. Not sure if that was communicated to you all at any stage. It was therefore unclear what *would have* incapacitated your attacker. As we all know, Natan made it very clear in his 4th round 😂. No room for judge error there and no "would have", just actual debilitating damage for all to see ☠️ I'd love to see you go 100% on these guys to see if they still think they can ignore your shots 🔥. As Dana White says, never leave it in the hands of the judges. 😂

Looking at it without the editing and slowed down here i feel like Jeff should have won round 1,3,4 in my opinion. The headkick and the eye stab were both really precise and in round 4 it doesn't look like the attacker did any serious damage with the knife before Jeff disarmed him.

Round 1: that was a solid head kick. However I feel that in a situation with a knife there is great danger to control. If the attacker is not incapacitated by the kick and continues to stab even with less vigor than he did, you could still end up dead or seriously injured. I feel control of the weapon is important in reality and he had control most of the time even while on his back. The weapon will do far more damage than either of opponents unarmed strikes. Possibly you would have passed out somewhere in between the many stab wounds he gave. Possibly you would have made it through and knocked him out. Definitely you’d be headed to the hospital and probably not for bandaids. It seems you got stabbed a lot under the armpit on one side. Idk how critical those strikes would have been to break your momentum. You also seem to have taking at least some slashes to the thigh. Not sure where tho. That last knee to the head I fasho would have been a game ender for your opponent. I don’t think he could have continued on after that with any threat to you

Please Jeff don't call those Krav Maga block, because that's not Krav Maga. This kind of parry are in multiple old martial arts like kung fu and karate... Its not Krav Maga. Don't fall into there promotion trap... Krav Maga is just a promotion for a business. This exact parry you used come from kung fu. And you have it in jeet Kune do...

Im kind of surprised how little the push kicks affected the attackers. Do you think it’s because they were heavier than you?

Seems like Krav Maga has some validity. Properly applied, I'm not surprised.

See it's not fair because you're facing not just an attacker with a knife but an attacker with a knife who is also a trained fighter. Realistically in an enclosed space it would be almost impossible to survive this kind of scenario without a weapon of your own. I do agree though that the stab in the eye with the pen would have ended it right off the bat.

There is no 'guarantee' knockout hit. Attempting the high kick in a realistic scenario where an attacker is holding a f*kn knife is beyond idiotic and should not be advocated for

One problem I have with the knife commentary is people underestimating the human body. Prisoners have been surrounded and stabbed hundreds of times and lived. Hell, people have lived through a grizzly bear’s assault and that is a lot worse than a guy with a knife.

Very risky kick and i think there is no way to defend angry knife attackers.

The fight could have ended when your high kick landed right at the opponent’s neck 😮But you might get hurt because the opponent still holds the knife though 🤔
