5 Language Learning Principles to Get Fluent In Any Language.
I'm James, a native English speaker and I also speak Italian and Spanish. I have 11 years of experience with language learning. I help people reach a conversational level in another language.
In this video I talk about the 5 principles that I'd recommend to anyone wanting to learn another language. They're a mix of mindsets, attitudes and actions to take to ensure you have the highest chance of reaching a conversational level in another language.
00:12 - Change your internal voice
00:47 - Don't let language learning struggles from school affect the way you are today
00:56 - You must be ok with making mistakes
01:58 - Accept that you'll never fully learn a language
02:48 - The problem with motivation
03:33 - Be ok with being bad at the start
04:19 - When most people give up

This is great advice. I think I’m going to start listening to podcasts and whatnot while I workout. I don’t have many other opportunities during my daily life so this seems to be my best option. Thank you!

Trying learn Spanish again what I have learned so far about me is just learning a word list is not effective for me. I do better learn phrases. Journaling daily no matter how small helps me remember the language. Also I have to have the courage to be bad at Spanish until I am good.

Nice, yes learning new words in context definitely helps your mind understand "how and where can I use this word in conversation". It makes the word more meaningful :). Very true about being bad at something before you're good as well - good mindset to have if you can accept the feeling of 'being bad at something' for a while!
