The saddest thing about the extinction of the Thylacine was that they were all killed by ranchers who thought the Thylacines were killing their sheep, when it was in fact dingoes. We now know that Thylacines lacked the jaw strength to kill sheep, and they primarily subsisted on birds.

@@jennyrose9454 i have hunted for years but my philosophy is that i don't kill anything I'm not going to eat. For a couple years i basically survived on wild game. But one thing that really pisses me off is these assholes that come into our area, east central Ohio, and buy a small plott of land (10 acres minimum, because you can hunt with what's known as a landowners license) then put up no trespassing signs so no one can hunt on their little block of dirt and then proceed to hunt on other peoples land without permission. I've seen then 1st hand, they carry maps so they know who's land they're on. But the worst, and most unsportsmanlike things they do has gotten them arrested and thrown of peoples land is that instead of crawling over or under aa fence they take wire cutters and just cut fences that farmers depend on to keep their herds controlled. But worst of all they will shoot a buck, male deer, and if it ain't big enuff they just leave it lay and look for another one to shoot. When they do find one worthy of mounting on the wall they will take a meat saw,, kind of a large hacksaw and cut the head off and leave the rest of the deer there to rot. There are quite a few families who would gladly take the meat to provide for their families. But these damn Akronites as we call them , Akron is a city in northern Ohio that we generalize to lump them into a group, don't give a shit. They're just wanting something to hang on the wall and brag about. They are not very high on the social scale, while I've never done it if they leave their vehicles parked on the dirt road they sometimes come back to find their windows shot out and tires with holes blown thru them. They're not hunters or even sportsmen, they're trash that need removed from our area. Let them drive their new Jeeps or SUVS to another state where that kind of behavior is acceptable but stay the hell away from us. This is one of the most rural counties in Ohio and it's not surprising that everyone knows everyone else, hell half of them are related. A true hunter will hunt by the rules, obey the law, and help each other out. I've seen many a hunter fill his tag even though he really doesn't want/need the meat but has a relative or friend who does and will give it to someone who does. I hate these outside assholes and when asked where to go i send them to places i know they'll either get busted or on occasion get chased off at gunpoint. Man has killed to many animals just for bragging rights that they actually didn't earn. To get a true trophy buck takes a few hundred hours of tracking and watching trails, more than they can possibly put in when you live over 100 miles away. BASTARDS.

I know it sounds evil, and bad, but we need to stop putting our species first, and start putting the other millions of species ahead of us. We will never be important enough to the point we deserve to slay every animal and forest and become the last remaining creature. No, we must slay humanity as a whole instead before we can destroy earth any further. Glooks Ma Guy yeah and your defending it you disgusting human you’re stating the obvious If it’s a 3rd world country the worst is already expected you don’t need to visit one to know how much better off you are. Irregardless of said needy individuals poaching is not acceptable Would you risk your life trying to feed your family via hunting said dangerous endangered animal then risk getting caught by your local law enforcement bc your some lazy fuck who thinks they can get rich quick by taking rare exotic meat or animal hides? What if you get caught? Now your family has one less provider and your situation just got worse. It doesn’t matter what the justification is poaching isn’t acceptable by any stretch Also it’s kind of ironic how you are asking me about my ability to read yet you aren’t capable of spelling nor using the term retarded properly. I would also like to note that overuse of profanity does not make your argument stronger rather it leads to a much more flawed and overly emotional response defeating the purpose. I like how you’re getting overly defensive about this. Anyways your logic is oh some people less fortunate do this bc they are less fortunate ...... your defense of their actions is alarming to say the least as it doesn’t matter their intentions the global consensus agrees with me that poaching is wrong why else is it illegal? Honestly the idea of poaching is pretty pointless to start if you kill or capture an animal that is endangered nearing extinction you are hurting yourself as if you continue your actions said resources will go extinct Think about this u kill some beast k so there you go a meal or multiple meals for your family k what next that’s only a temporary solution? Hmmm what you didn’t feed your family with it and instead opted to sell its values parts such as tusks or a horn? K so that money only stretches so far what next when that money is spent It doesn’t matter the circumstances or the reasoning It is not a solution Good try you can defend it all you want...... but it’s a downhill battle for you....... pls next time name something new or relevant instead of the same blatantly obvious circle argument

@rickydo65724 жыл бұрын
I think it's because there is so much negative space and the high contrast. The photo itself almost tells a story, the Lion is very small in the picture and most of the scenery is covered by shadows, the only well lit part of the picture is where the lion stands. It's almost like all the negative space represents all the loneliness of being the last of your kind, and the fact that the Lion is walking towards the light represents him entering the heavens. Very haunting indeed

Its anthropomorphised by us though. Dogs only protect someone because of pack instinct not because they `love` their owners. They are better off protecting there human masters who feed, shelter and shield them from harm if possible because they have more chance of survival. They even mimic human facial expressions and sounds to manipulate us into helping them. As I said, evolutionary.
@x3ni4876 жыл бұрын
meetoo594 that's wrong, when a dog doesn't like an owner, he may give him food, shelter and all and he'll still give him a hard time or try to escape. You gotta stop believing only in this evolutionary shit, some animals have minds and feelings, they can love and hate, fear or feel safe around someone. Some humans just deny it, to make themselves believe they are way superior than nature. Remember that nature made us, we need the animals and nature, but no one needs us. Not one plant, living organism, animal or land needs humans to survive. Think about it
@KARTIKEYA0076 жыл бұрын
@meetoo594 this is such bullshit dude... u can feed a dog all u want, it will by no means assure that he will see u as a member of the "pack".. they have feelings and complex emotions and can pretty much always without fail understand who actually truly cares for them and who doesn't.. this is exactly the reason many dogs have starved to death and have denied eating anything after their owners passed away.. going by your theory the dog would have been fine if he was being fed but that's not the case at all. Dogs have also on multiple occasions left the home / shelter to go out in the cold near the grave of the deceased ones. Any animal activist will tell you how incredibly difficult it is to control or rehabilitate a dog whose owner passed away... they refuse to eat, drink and often times run away from home(where there are other family members of the "pack") in search of their most loved family member... I have seen hundreds of such cases in my career

As it turns out, barbary lions are pretty much just asiatic lions adapted to mountainous lifestyle, similar lion is the very rare jungle living lion known as addis ababa lion or ethiopian lion living in Bale national park, only one small video of the lion was captured to my knowledge and can be found on youtube, the male in the video looked very buff and full indicating it's still a well fed species, unfortunately, much like the barbary lion it lives a non-social life, it wanders around solitary and only comes into contact during mating or a lion can be observed living with 1 lioness, there may or may not be coalitions of males, but they do show well known barbary and asiatic lion features of staying away from females majority of the time, they also have very small dark manes and a shorter more robust build than savvanah lions for forest lifestyle, they ca grow manes that can grow from their necks to their belly when they are observed in colder altitudes.

2:53 This picture was taken in the desert of Algeria, and it is an embodiment and a lesson that will remain and will not be forgotten. This was the last picture of this mighty Algerian animal. My grandfather told me that this lion had seized the lands in a frightening manner and would go to the Atlas Mountains in Algeria and lie there alone or in a group and it was huge Enormous, but it was said that because of the colonial Europeans, this species became extinct. The origin of this lion is Algeria, but some think that it is of Moroccan origin, but this is wrong. It's the Algerian barbie lion🇩🇿

I'm sorry maam, but I also donate small amount of money to watershed program here in my country, our country has a lot of poor, and still they doesn't have any access to clean water, that's why I donated a small amount. And also, I am quite selective when helping people, I only help and give money to elder, sick and people with disabilities, but I rarely help abled people. I know they know how to survived, but elders, sick, and disabled are another issue. I am also poor myself, but not as miserable as them, but as long as I can help them in any small amount, then why not? If only I have the money, I would help children go to school, because education can save them from being miserable. And also help elders, sick and people with disabilities.

God! No! I don't even eat vegetables. All we have to do is to keep animals exist in this world than regretting it in the end that there are no more animals. We can't just keep killing animals because they are our foods. We still need to keep them exist. THAT IS OUR JOB BECAUSE WE ARE MORE INTELLIGENT THAN ANIMALS! WE KNOW HOW TO KEEP THEM ALIVE. Help them!

@AG Coarseman we are killing this planet. Of course some things are okay, some things we have to do to survive. But there are things that go way to far! Like money, money is the worst! It's manipulating people so easily. All it needs is a piece of paper that you can pay with and people start going crazy
@jessejones86684 жыл бұрын
@AG Coarseman We live on this amazing ecosystem called earth where animals and plants thrive. We as humans are the most cognitive and developed life form on this planet, therefor we have ultimate power. Our intelligence has created amazing things, but we have also destroyed so much due to power, greed and selfishness. We eat every single plant and animal known to man because we can, not for the sake of survival or instinct. We sacrifice animals for food, clothing, jewelry because it makes us feel good. We cut down trees and destroy ecosystems that were thriving because corporations want money and we will consume it. We are a species of feelings, always needy greedy and overindulging. Because we cant have empathy for all forms of life, we are going to single handedly destroy this world. We have the power as intelligent humans to save this planet.. but only now we are trying to fix problems that we have started, we are just saving it from ourselves.

The sad truth is, that even if some individuals are still around, the species as such is practically gone. It requires at least a hundred individuals to keep a somewhat healthy population going. Otherwise incest will be unavoidable and lead to a slow decay. Many species nowadays are endangered, which implies that a huge part of their genetic diversity is lost forever and they may not be able to adapt to changing conditions as a consequence.

All of these comments focusing on the last photo of the Barbary lion in North Africa and it's haunting, ephemeral quality are right on the money. The fact that the last photo isn't even a close up with a good visual depiction makes it somehow more tragic. Standing at the bottom of a vast canyon completely alone and surrounded on all sides by rocky cliffs, looking more like a ghost or shadow than a living creature which may have been exactly how it felt at that moment when its visage was captured for the last and possibly only time in its life.
