Wife died, pandemic hit, lost job,car repo’d, hurricane Ian hit, second car smashed. No electricity for 2months. No Christmas. Just now coming out of it. I hear ya. I lost a lot. Boat stolen, many things repod. Gotta feed them kids. Pawned wedding rings. I’m numb right now these days. Glad I have a job I guess.

Draw strength from the positive. Always remember to give thanks, and live one day at a time focusing on now and not the past. Those are some of the ways I try and focus my daily life on.

What a beautiful story you have to share of hope and resilience! I so much appreciate it. My storm came through a divorce that I did not want. the lessons that I learned are: that I’m not alone, God is with me every step of the way, and He is leading/guiding me. I have learned how to be strong and resilient. I have learned that I can do hard things and come out on the other side changed for the better.

Dear Brandon, from the first episode I watched on your KZbin, I felt there was something special about you. You calm me and make me and so many others feel so much more comfortable in our artistic pursuits. But now I feel it's not just the art, although it has sustained you, me and others for sure. You are a very special human being and I'm so honored to be told this rather intimate story of your life. It's a truly inspiring episode that I was absolutely not expecting but explains so much of what I have felt from you. All I can think to say is THANK YOU.

Fellow artist here. Lost my home in Katrina in Louisiana as well. I was 12, and we stayed through the entire storm. I wrote a poem about it as a kid entitled 'Missing Home'. That storm forever changed my life. Thank you for sharing your story!

Good reminder that everything can and probably will change. Hard lesson for someone liking stability. Luckily not all changes are for worse.

Your words resonate so much, your spirit and resilience shine brightly. I try to live each day in the spirit of 'Momento Mori' . I love how this is a reflection of the impermanence of life and how important it is not to take time on earth for granted or worry about things beyond our control. Thank you for sharing such a personal experience. I'd really value hearing the full story and how your art and journaling helped the healing process. You are such an inspiration

I was living in New Orleans and evacuated to a relatives house in Picayune, MS. And the eye of Katrina went right over the top of our head. People who've never experienced hurricanes often don't know that they spawn tornadoes. One turned away from us when Katrina went over us. It turned fifty feet from the house. I stayed until hurricane Ida. And that one destroyed my house. So I moved back to the midwest where I'm from. And...yeah...trying to realize your life has to move on is a process, not an event. Thank you.
