You are perfect. You're the best instructor I've come across in my 65 years of playing. My first Love is jazz, with bossa and classical/flamenco (my beloved dad) close seconds. All the rest follow them. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A much needed and appreciated lesson for me being primarily a rock and country lead guitarist for many years. This really opened the door for a more Jazz like sound in playing lines. Make it swing! Thank you kindly Sandra.

It's great to see you play and enjoy more than one music style. I have a very eclectic music taste too :-) It'll help you improve with the other styles too.

Sandra, your absolutely right. A Guitarist/Musician can imply the chord progression perfectly, and it still might not sound like Jazz. Why? It's all about Phrasing. For anyone that's interested in more information about Jazz Phrasing, check out Forward Motion by Hal Galper. Also for the importance of Chord Tones check out Chord Tone Soloing for Jazz Guitar by Joseph Alexander and Jazz Guitar Arpeggio Soloing by Tim Pettingale. Thanks.

Thanks! Plenty to digest. Accents on the upbeats of a swing is going to take me awhile. Biplets, triplets and quadipilets. Also, you chose a great example to finish up on. Sounded great.
@GuitarversumSandraSherman2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the accents may take a while to get used to, especially if you're coming from blues, where the accents are on the beat.

I really like watching and learning from you. I might not know all of the modes and theory and I am not going to because I don't care. Learning chords and keys and scales Yes, and even with that I may still play wrong notes, but you have given me a new catch phrase. " I may play a wrong note from time to time, but it will be on the right beat." I have to add Grant Green sometimes get criticized for being simplistic, but his phrasing was awesome! Sometimes it sounded like he was having a conversation with his guitar.
@GuitarversumSandraSherman2 жыл бұрын
You have the right attitude 😊. I have a saying "your ears are the judge". After all theory etc, it's your ears that decide snazzy sounds good to YOU. You must be happy with the results. What you improvise is YOUR creation, and it's of no use if you're not happy with it, just bc someone else tells you it's not good.
