Super helpful video! There is NOTHING good that comes from alcohol use, EVER! Yet society makes it look so enjoyable and good! Alcohol is the most destructive drug in society, physically, mentally and socially. It's largely ignored, advertised widely, little warnings and easily sold and accepted. Never too late to quit! Thanks for the video Leon! ❤👍

I often convince myself that after a few weeks sobriety, I deserve a few drinks for that effort, these few drinks unfortunately turns into a binge, regardless of the impending insomnia, depression and anxiety that follows the binge.

One of the biggest things stopping me from drinking again is the insomnia. It's really bad, I'm talking drinking heavily on a Sunday, going to sleep around 9/10, wake up at half 12-1am and not sleeping again then having to go to work at 6. Absolute hell. Not a big deal after a Friday night cos can just drink again the Saturday. Thought about sobriety for the last decade but it finally got bad enough, even now I still think about a drinking a lot though.

Can't tell you how many times I decided to "reward" myself for 4 weeks of no drinking with a drink. The next thing I know, I'm back to drinking a bottle of tequila everyday.

Leon thanks to your channel I've crossed day 300. There's even been wine in the house since NYE and I haven't even been tempted to drink it! I've been hiting the gym and increased my social life going to gigs etc where other people drink etc, I'm perfectly fine in my decision to be non drinker. Thankyou so much

Thanks for this video #4 hits the nail on the head. The idea that there is a "correct" amount of alcohol to drink is absolutely intended to put the blame on the individual rather than the beverage industry's predatory marketing tactics, very similar to the "litter-bug fallacy", i.e., disposable plastics industry blaming consumers for not recycling. In the US, there have been many, many unfruitful attempts to get the AG to change the language to reflect alcohol as a drug, but you know we had that whole prohibition thing, and the consequence has been that alcohol industries have more protection and lobbing power than ever.

8 weeks since I binned alcohol this coming weekend. I never had a problem as such , but I certainly have / had a history of mental health issues. It no longer makes sense to ingest something that may aggravate that any more. Best decision ever so far albeit small, not looking back.

It's the alcohol sales and marketing teams that have heavily promoted the idea of moderate consumption. If you can't get the consumer to buy five units, at least get them to buy one unit.

I believe that some people have the genetic set up to become addicted more quickly than others. However, it is a tendency not a certainty. One can mentally fight against a tendency.

I appreciate you thinking for yourself. I do it all the time. You got some good points but I have my own way of thinking and I can't agree with ever you said as an absolute. I got off alcohol by not going to any program. I just thought the process out myself and it worked. Same with losing weight or working out. I think the process Tru myself I realise this approach isn't for everyone. Everyone seems to need the therapist. I even tried therapy once and kept arguing with my therapist picking apart what would be bes 11:54 t for me. I gave up a benzo addiction all by myself by thinking Tru the process. Again I appreciate your approach but It isn't 100% my truth. Having said that your way of thinking is miles ahead of alcoholics anonymous.. Cheers

Id never say AA is a bad thing but it has its road up the mountain and its tried and true. Some people fjnd tracks off the road. They are well trodden and just as good. Do a meeting and if it resonates it may help. Dont become beholden if your unsure. The best thing to have is a friend or person who wont jusge you but wont enable you either start their if anywhere. And good luck.

Most drugs including alcohol and cigarettes , have a tendency to reprogram the brain in a way that makes it difficult to process information about it in a normal rational way. I've heard some just refuse to accept facts like it is a carcinogen as well as some of the myths you have outlined here. Alcohol produces memories about the experience that will last even years after quitting but both physical and mental health will improve the longer you stay clear of it. As with any addiction , understanding what got you started in the first place will help prevent you from slipping back into the void.😵‍💫

To me “Alcoholic” is not a judgement, it’s a fact. If I start drinking, I can’t stop. To me that’s alcoholic. Some people can have one drink and stop. I can’t. It used to bother me to describe myself as an alcoholic. But it’s just a description of my experience. Coffee and alcohol are two different things. Alcohol destroys lives. Coffee doesn’t.
