I slowly cut back. One night my wife brought me a drink to share with her after work, and I said "I don't really want that." She asked "just right now?" and I said "for good". That was over 200 days ago. I started watching your channel about 6 weeks ago. Thanks for all affirmation of that decision.

I went a month and a half without alcohol and thought I could moderate, but I fell right back into the trap. I will not risk it again.

I struggled with this too. Had to be honest with myself. I lack self control so I need to abstain

I went over 2 years. Once that neurological pathway is made, it never goes away. You can build ones stronger, but you can never destroy it. One of the biggest mistakes of my life

Never drank a ton, but even 4 or so drinks a week was counter productive and too much. I've contemplated stopping for some time, but after watching a bunch of your vids and really thinking about it, I decided to be done. It just so happened I quit on 1/1/24, and about a week later my mother fell ill and ended up spending 6 weeks in hospital and rehab. I had a few challenging moments and considered it, but never did. Now it's easy and I have absolutely no interest in consuming. Keep up the good work and thanks for the encouragement!

Great video! Controlling alcohol consumption can be a challenging process, but with determination and a structured approach, it is possible to make significant progress. Some of the things you could do are: Learn about the harmful effects of excessive alcohol consumption on your physical and mental health, Try to abstain from alcohol completely for 30 days or to limit your consumption to a certain number of drinks per week, Surround yourself with supportive people who understand your objectives and provide encouragement and accountability. Remember, everyone's journey is unique, and it's essential to be patient and kind to yourself throughout the process.👋

Thanks for posting this video Leon. I really appreciate the motivation you have to offer. I'm on my 17th day of sobriety now and noticing the benefits internally and externally from keeping ethanol out of my body. The first 4 days were tough, my emotions were all over the show, with messed up sleep and night sweats. Sleeping patterns are still a bit erratic but I'm getting better REM sleep, according to my Fitbit sleep monitor, so energy levels are better, more mood stability and I'm feeling a bit more sharper mentally. My scalp psoriasis is still flaring up but a lot less than it was over 2 weeks ago, which I believe is an autoimmune inflammatory symptom of leaky gut. Long term use of alcohol has irritated the gut microbiome and gut lining, so I'm now focussing on nutrition to help repair leaky gut. It has been recommended that L-glutamine rich foods and supplements can help with this process. I've been watching a lot of KZbin vids; Dr Eric Berg offers a lot of insightful nutritional info and for more sobriety motivation; Getting Sober...Again. I'm so grateful for the many KZbin influencers out there in the community

I stop drink 2 summers ago heading into my 3rd. But the thoughts comes day as soon as it get dark, time to unwind, sit outside, or walk the pooch, or watch some tv. Just munch on junk food and drink diet soda. Im not buzzed or passing out at nights, but im gaining weight 😢😢

39 days no drinking today. Lost my last job cause I drank too much. Felt like dying cause I couldn't afford to drink..... But this pushed me to sobriety. Just got a very good job I probably wouldn't have gotten if I wasn't "vibrantly sober". Getting off from work triggered intense cravings the 1st few days but I didn't give in. Grateful to have another chance to make a better life for me. I got this gorilla by the ass and I'm not about to let go! My friends; "Drinking is like making love to the gorilla, you don't stop til the gorilla stops..." Thank you, Leon.

There was case here for a bartender doing serious time for overserving. Turns out a guy got so wasted, hopped on his jeep, drove 100mph, ran a red light and hit an off duty officer and his family, killing the officer.

This is really solid advice thanks Leon, seems like a bulletproof plan to me if the person truly wants to quit forever. I'm just under 2 months on my journey and a few weeks in I became obsessed with researching alcohol/ethanol, societal impacts/history, how it fucks up your entire body/sleep etc. A book that really helped me early on was "Alcohol explained" by William Porter (there is a sequel also), I'm currently reading "Allen Carr's Easyway to control alcohol", and will read "This Naked Mind" after. I really love reading topics I am passionate about, for me it works. It's actually quite ironic that when I quit drinking I became obsessed with the topic and want to keep learning more. It's early days for me but I am 100% committed to never ingesting alcohol again and never looking back. I hope this helps in some way to anyone out there!

My life is literally falling apart. I wish I never took a single sip of alcohol. The thing is that I'm such a miserable cunt without it, even though it genuinely makes my life worse. I can't be social or interact without a buzz, even though I humiliate myself and get sloppy half the time. I just can't feel any emotions without alcohol.

I'm not as social at dinner, parties, bbq, as I used to be when I had a drink before or during the event. That's ok. If it's fun it's fun. If not that's OK. I wont be seeing those people for awhile. I do however have to go home with my wife and daughter and I dont want them nagging me or giving me the silent treatment. Or dwell on me being a stupid arse drunk all the time. So best wishes. Things could be a lot worse. ❤❤❤

If you have been drinking a long time, it may take several months to feel normal again. Especially mentally. For me there are also underlying issues with anxiety and obsessive thinking. Im going on seven months after 40 years of daily drinking. All the best.

@@Rick40yearsthank you for the encouragement. I been solid drinking for a long time yes with an 18 month stint of sober in between. It’s gonna take longer than 3 weeks 😂. Don’t wanna scared anyone but the 18 month sober stint 2019/2020 I was the most sick mentally I have ever been in my life. AA was disastrous because of the dysfunctionality of the groups. Just not helpful for some people. This time round I have have so many more skills after seeking psychological support when I was v ill and completing the DBT 6 month therapy. Best of luck everyone!
