Networking on LinkedIn is my forte, but this sums up all the things I have been doing and puts it into a convenient and easy to understand guide. I felt like I was watching the last two years of my life summed up. The one thing I would argue though is brain drain... I have gotten far better reactions by asking power questions that make the person think in new ways in terms of you. It makes them remember you...but these questions must be about THEM. As Dale Carnegie said the topic people love to talk about the most is... them. Closed ended questions are fun little ice breakers... but I would rather do my homework and have a few power questions that revolve around them and things that they have done that they aren't going to be asked 300 times a day, and can't end the conversation in a few words.

@@thefutur I mean he touched on it a bit, but showing that you've done your homework. I am creating my own fragrance house, and the perfumery industry is traditionally very tight lipped. I went through a situation last year that had me at home on rest for a long time. I started messaging successful people in the industry about a year ago using "power questions", but most importantly all 5 elements (I did not have a name for them though, but value is the most important...often it would be a fragrance layering combo, sometimes a BBQ recipe, anything we had in common as an anchor), but the ask was the thing that stands out to me. I never asked for ANYTHING besides their story and to hear their experience. I don't network because I want something from somebody, I network to make and maintain lasting relationships. I have heard back from almost everyone I messaged. I have meetings with perfumers and people in the industry all next week for my briefs on my initial collection. Many of these people have been mentoring me, and I have asked none of them to (except for my original business mentor, I aske him but he knows nothing about fragrance outside of from when he did the turnaround for Barney's NY the first time). Great video and always great content. Thank you.

LinkedIn has been nothing but a complete waist of time for me. I actually put stuff on the table. Nobody is actually accomplishing anything other than creating more content.

This was absolute gold Matt, thank you very much! It helped to reaffirm a lot of what I already do on LinkedIn but also helped to tighten up what I could be doing better. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I am absolutely gonna give these a try. While I have done some variation of the 5 components in my LinkedIn DMs subconsciously, I am gonna try giving them a do-over and having a few more elements in there! Let's goooo!

If most sales people adopted these approach, they won't close a sale in a month! I helped sales teams in multiple industries to master sales navigator. It's not sexy, but being direct helps helps you get to a reply and then a meeting. The key is to message those that have a need for your product/service. I wonder how has these tips made you millions?

Interesting, I’m annoyed when people reach out to me on LinkedIn asking me these type of questions. My first reaction is “who are you for me to tell you what I think or how I feel about x?” 😅 It’s clear to me that their intention is to sell 😝

Message like a Millennial, heard someone the other day mention to message someone assuming they are going to reply with their thumb in the parking lot on the way from their car to the building. Makes sense to make it that easy.

What makes you think these strategies wouldn’t work for introverts? Is there anything more introverted than sitting behind a computer typing on a keyboard?

@@Matt_EssamAs an introvert myself, my social battery still gets drained when I text several people in a week. Having to think about conversation starters and good questions especially when socializing is not my thing feels heavy. But you know, I gotta do what I gotta do to get the results I want to get. Though I don't message people everyday to preserve my sanity. Maybe like once a week, I'll do about 7 to 10 people.

@@Matt_Essam Thanks for taking time to give advice. Writing is my strong suit. I do make content but I do know that if I want to speed track my results, I gotta do more until my content starts to yield results.
