Well, that settled it for me --- LMT is the best way to go. It engulfs the whole filter. More air = more power. Thanks for doing all this research and experimentation. It will really help someone at some point.

Soo much better in fitment, function and looks then the Kong. NO rubbing!

Thank you Sir, im a firm believer quality speaks for itself. Aftermarket companies cutting corners with little to no R&D with consistent poor fitment only makes them self look bad. So sick of people thinking theres only one option for 5" carbon intake for our cars. LMT takes 1st place in my book. And yes i do have more planned for the car, haha

That's crazy how everyone goes with Kong parts on their ZR1, but you've actually tested their parts and have proven their stuff is pretty lackluster in comparison to other companies. Very interesting!

It looks like air really doesn’t get sucked into that area . I was going to cut it out so air can flow through there ,

Air will flow where ever theres least resistance. I really wish this LMT had a front cone for more filter surface area. The LMT is way sexier and better performer of an intake.

What were the gains of this intake over the kong?

I never did a back to back test on dyno but: Gains on the LMT are better smoother drivablity due to the proper MAF placement. The Kong has terrible drivabiity when tuned off MAF. Most have to utilize a speed density tune to omit the MAF sensor not having smooth airflow delivery. (too much turbulence inside intake because of MAF location on kong) Also looks overall way sexier and no large tacky gorilla tramp stamp on every surface.

Did u have trouble putting the attack blue filter to the carbon piece , it’s like it don’t fit .

Mine was a little tight fitting. But i worked it on fine by sitting the filter on the bench and slowly working carbon piece into the groove on the filter while pressing it down. Also make sure to wipe off any mold release inside the groove with a rag and some alcohol.

That’s why I went with the Holley intek Or do you think I should cut that honeycomb out ?

The Holley intek is a great intake for a stock snout and a mild bolt on setup. After market high flow snouts will not work with that Holley because of the stupid awkward angle of the whole intake. The snout throat size is the choke point on these cars. Not sure what you mean by honeycomb?

@@JohnFrancoNH my snout is ported from Kong but it’s the hood/bumper vent or ram air dam that air flows through to hit the air filter if you look closely in there it looks like honeycomb ,so. If you shine a light through to see , it’s very restricted , the air filter (not the Holley cuz they Y out and run to sides) but say the LMT filter , you can bearly see it from say standing in front of car , so do you think cutting it open will be better cuz of more air hitting the air filter or it’s fine just like that ? Cuz I don’t know where the air filter is getting cool outside air from

Did you paint or powder coat your kong tensioner?

Yes painted OEM tensioner in metallic black. Zero kong parts on my build going foward. Thats not needed until 20+ psi but if you got a good idler and belt size combo to keep oem tensioner on the high side of tensioner safe zone you are good. Boost is as flat as a table top.

Are you running the Lingenfelter 102 mm snout ?

No i have a oem kong LS9 snout( originally approx. 108mm) and at time of this video its was hand ported by me for a 112mm throttle body. And just recently i have epoxied and ported snout once again for new 120mm TB available for LS.

Oh ok nice .. I bought the LMT cold intake not knowing that it’s not compatible with my stock snout and TB . It sits lower than the Lingenfelter one I think , I need a long coupler with a bend . Do you recommend the lingenfelter one ?
