Legendary fix. Not even going to get the cables repaired as the automatic door is so glitchy in the winter.

Thank you! Both of mine have now snapped, and I needed help to fix the most recent one. It’s definitely worth trying this, because it costs almost $1800 to repair, according to our Honda service center. 😳

Does your van beep the entire time whenever you have it in drive? Mine won’t stop the beeping. I assume it thinks the van thinking the door is open although it’s fully closed and locked.

Just turn the automatic door switch off
@mgmarquez19879 ай бұрын
Didn’t even think to do that 😅 thanks!!!

On the dash where you can hit the button to open the sliding doors and close them, there should be an on and off switch right above those to make it automatic or manual turn that switch off and that will turn the alarm off.

@@troygabriele7206genius!!! This was my issue with trying to use the door as well!!!

It has to do likely with the lower door actuator latch on one of your sliding doors. Do you notice that when trying to close one side it's not fully closing sometime? Or you need to push it for it to close? Mine was caused because my latch actuator was stuck in a closed position. I had to disassemble the whole sliding door and open up the latch actuator and regrease it, which fixed the problem for me. I also find that if the actuator latch is bad and causing your door to be open and beeping even when closed, it can drain your battery down in time too. I remember I stopped using my van because of the beeping and started I'd do the repair later, only to find it drained my battery. Love these cars but the sliding doors are so finicky, not to mention other randoms repairs that are common for these odysseys

My cable is broke but the door is closed nad wont budge. any advice?
@JonMorganMadness8 ай бұрын
That stinks. It sounds like you will probably need to take off either outside or inside panels. My guess is that it would be an inside panel that you will need to take off to access the place where the cable winds up.

Need the cables to keep from getting off alignment. Eventually it will shift and start getting stuck on the rivet screws behind it. Yours slides better than mine tho without the cable. Mine had a rough slide
@JonMorganMadness Жыл бұрын
Good to know. It'll be interesting to see how long it stays in alignment. Thanks for the comment.

Those door brackets have little plastic wheels / bearings. They wear out then the metal posts grind the track and make the replacement set of plastic wheels wear out faster... If your door is a rough slider replace the door bracket, its pretty fast and only costs about $25

Title is misleading. This is not a fix, it is a workaround.

Best of luck. My husband cut our cable and it eventually will not be aligned and fall completely off thr tracks. You will be mortified with your van full of kids praying you will make it to the Walmart where you buy rachet straps and drive around with your door racheted shut telling the kids to climb in and out of the trunk.

I think you just need to be careful cause now it can come off the hinges easier if it’s lifted up on

The door isn't broken... Technically a feature was lost. The point of a door is to open and close. The door still opens and closes, less the feature of electromechanically opening and closing. Teleologically, the door is fixed since it previously wasn't able to open and close.
