Thanks for posting this video. In my case the wire length somehow get extended making the unlocking tab on the back free doing nothing when pulled as it wasn't enough to unlock the seat at the bottom, upon opening the seat with your video's help I could see that the wire clip was hooked at the third crevasse, moved it up to the fist place shortening the wire length, voila everything start to work and can fold the seat. Thank you!!! I have Odyssey 2007 EXL, three parts that I found could be problematic but fortunately not the case for me: Honda 82242-SHJ-A01ZD Garnish, RR. So that’s great, but how do you lift the seat to get to the front to fix it? The problem is, the seat is locked in the down position.

@@sabrinawoodard5788 try using the pull on the front outside part of the seat, it’s small, close to the door side, wear the seat folds. I had to pull that and the one on the back at the same time and was able to unlock the seat.

In my case, the seat hinge seized up with rust, the result of an extended roof leak. So I inserted a 2x4 and pried open the seat while pulling the latch release. The tell tale sign was that the seat back rest had absolutely no play. The smaller seat that is working normally has a very tiny amount of movement when the latch release is is not pulled.

Now I know how to access it! TY! But I have a different problem. My seat won't engage to go into the cargo area. The handle broke also since the van is older . So I need to replace the handle and try to see what is loose since it won't engage with the handle to flip it into the cargo area.

I did what another post posted. The hinges were just stuck with a bit of rust. I put a 2x6 in seat between back and bottom, son pulled strap and I pushed up on board and it popped right up with a little leverage. Cables were fine, it just rusted stuck a bit since been down for over 2 yrs.

Easier fix if you don’t have the time or money to do all this... pull the release handle to bring the seat down into the trunk but instead of having it sink in the ground just bring the bottom up about halfway and then push the bottom back down and the seat will be able to go up and you can just put it back down

Good_game_man 1 Working to fix my 2009 which may have a slight different mechanism on the inside. What I found is that I could put a screwdriver in the release after I opened the seat and that would allow me pull the release up and then move he seat to the upright position. I used a screwdriver so I wouldn’t get my fingers hurt in the release if I lost my grip. That won’t fix it, but it should allow you to get the seats back in a upright position.
