as someone who is happily married to there first cousin, i can honestly say this anime is a great one at showing the reality of incestous romance, society deems it to be depraved but in reality its mostly romantic

@@LuffyDono-c9o true, but this anime represents the more realistic reactions and emotions than most incest animes, it doesnt play it off as something thats easy to accept, the brother is old enough to understand its wrong, and the sister is young enough to let her emotions control her actions, its well written and well made

You know, I really don't like incest in anime, but surprisingly, I ended up loving this show. I think it's mostly because of how well told and realistic it felt.

as someone who had a similar experience with my first cousin (we are now happily married with 2 kids and living in a country that legally permits our love to exist without judgment) this anime resonated with me, so many people around the world are judged as perverts because of a deeply romantic emotional bond that develops with a family member, me and my cousin were disowned by our families, spent years getting threats against us. all i can say is this anime is what real incestuous love is actually like

How is Koi Kaze tragic? The only tragedy is that people would be so close minded as to immediately discard Koushiro and Nanako's relationship as "disgusting" and "immoral" because of blind hatred of incest (the only viable argument against incest is the biological one; take out the producing of children and there's no ground to logically hate it as so many people seem to do). Otherwise, this is a very good review. But seriously, what they do in private shouldn't concern anyone as long it's consensual, which it obviously is.
@KineticOwl
@KineticOwl 10 жыл бұрын
Almost every relationship is going to be unequal in some way. What's wrong with unequal, anyways? Koushiro didn't uses his advantage to force her to do anything she didn't want to. That said, the most important factor (besides age to some degree obviously) is consent. The relationship in Koi Kaze is obviously consensual, so therefore there's nothing wrong with it. If Nanoka decided she wasn't ready, she would have chosen to not be with her brother. She might've rushed into the relationship, but don't many people? Nothing is special in this case. If it works out, it works out. If it doesn't, it doesn't That's just how life goes.

Violet Bellocq I agree, people often say ''Oh she is too young'', but age is just a number. If the girl wants Koshiro, it is not bad or wrong. And if Koshiro wants her, they both should be happy together ....

The plot reinforces the message that "love knows no bounds"? I think you might have missed the very heavy symbolism at the end that implies that society will run their relationship over and that it's bound to fail (or at the very least, will be met with profound struggle). The siblings are lost in their fantastic hope that things will work out and as such are oblivious to the very real problems that they will face right around the corner (implied by their ignorance to the fate of the amusement park where they originally met and the tree that they write their names on). Contrary to what you said, the narrative doesn't lean on the side of the siblings though it might seem that way if you missed the symbolism. Rather, it's an ambiguous ending that is probably the best you could possibly do and still maintain the moral ambiguity of it. The way the ending echoes the beginning is such a wonderfully poetic narrative touch and the way dramatic irony is woven into it makes it especially bittersweet. At the end (assuming the viewer doesn't reflexively hate incest), we personally experience the central conflict in hoping for the best and rooting for them, but knowing that the reality of their future is bleak.

"Shouldn't be treated as a romance" I know that the show does focus heavily on the development of feelings and their place in an incestuous relationship, especially with the age gap, but you also cannot dismiss it as a romance. Also on it wrongfully giving a "love knows no bounds" message, I think the nuances of the bounds are heavily emphasized in this show, perhaps even being the majority of the show. However, it definitely still is a romance, and the rest of the show is representative of this nature.

Yeah. He drank that full glass of mud pie because he's gone batshit insane. The trees where they met are being cut down, that's some ominous foreshadowing. Plus everyone at the park knows what's going on and they are horrified and disgusted by it.
