With the f16 just keep your flaps raised and press S trying to get to your enemy's tail, you'll easily win against ANY 3rd or 4th gen that's not another f16 or a gripen. Like zallin said Growling Sidewinder is a very good youtuber that teaches with simplicity how to dogfight, although war thunder is far from being a simulator like DCS some of its mechanics translate to the game. Also don't mind ppl who say "skill issue" or something like that they're just losers, if you play enough you'll get good :)

Stop using flaps in fights lol, they kill your energy. Also you were heavy on fuel and always pulling too hard instead of trying to retain some of your energy.

Even though it is rather disappointing to see an F-16 losing 1v1 to a Flogger it's always about the thrill of dogfight itself regardless of who wins or loses. Fights like these rarely happens nowadays and it's nice to watch. Here's my tip for you for the F-16; do not mess with flaps. Let them do their jobs and focus on your speed to rate around the circle while observing the bandit and playing accordingly. He saw that you were bleeding your speed like crazy and took the advantage by committing to vertical even though F-16 is much better at it. You should never drop to near stall speeds with this aircraft unless enemy is coming with a great energy advantage and you are forcing an overshoot. F-16 (especially the A model) should reliably kill a Mig-23 unless fight starts with a disadvantage. GGs regardless.

Its all good bro you'll get better. Try not using flaps all the time and don't listen to everyone else the flaps have their use but not until your ready for your final move usually. Try to maintain some energy as well. The f16 dominates the mig in all aspects but the mig pilot was retaining energy and taking advantage of you staying slow. Whenever you have to go over the top let the nose fall in front of his turns too so your better lined up for a counter attack.

f16 is a rate fighter/energy fighter(it likes 2 circle) and you should always drag a dogfight into that for your advantage. This will almost certainly win you every fight. I suggest you watch growling sidewinder vids for dogfighting even if its on DCS, it should help. (Also flaps do not really work as intended on the f16 while dogfighting so they wont really be of any use)
