This time I would like to talk about couples therapy. Oh my gosh! How can you talk about couples therapy in 5 minutes? But let’s talk about the opening of a couples session. When couples come into therapy often times they are supercharged to talk about the complaint, and complaint usually has to do with someone else changing their state.
We are excited to share with you our new KZbin series which will explore topics such as Client Problems, Professional Issues, Clinical Concerns, and Methodology with new episodes every Friday!

I like this approach. I actually listened to this with headphones on so I could hear his clear whistling through his talking. Nothing bothersome about it, just worth mentioning.

I had a couple of brief interactions with Dr Zelig at the first evolution of psychotherapy conference. I watched a questioner’s complete demeanor change when Dr. Zelig responded “to the question.” Actually he responded with care to the struggle of the questioner building on the competence of the questioner. I saw Dr. Zelig for a moment in passing to thank him. As I did, dammed if he didn’t do the same thing to me! I think part of his gift and skill is the ability to find and extend competencies he finds in others.

My girlftiend always says i don,t listen and i got a mouth problem. It makes me sad cause i usually don,t know what i said that angers her. Number two i got bad ears and i get tired of her getting mad so i prob do not listen so good at times. I love her an cry alot and we arent liveing together now but she doesnt want to actually breakup but i only get to go over to her house 1 time a week to see her and also cutt her big field of grass. My actual address is still at her house as im staying at my parents for the last 5 weeks an hour away. Any suggestions? Im thinking after 3 months im just stop trying if im not back in her place. What should i do honestly? Some1 help

I feel the conflict here is not taking into consideration that he is talking to therapists, not clients. I am a professional clinical counselor and did not have any problems following his train of thought; however, I am intimately acquainted with solution focused brief therapy and Milton Erickson’s life’s work. I would never counsel from that level of academic dialog. As I said earlier, he is relating some information to clinicians, not patients. I don’t think many of these videos are well categorized. This is something KZbin needs to improve-where academic material is being introduced and presented. It can lead to more confusion than the intended goal to benefit the therapist/viewer.

Your insurance will probably pay for "family therapy" or "individual therapy" and you bring your partner in to your sessions. This is done frequently and acceptable (I'm a therapist). Wishing you well!
