Yeah, I would love to see a character who explicitly just doesn’t “get” romance, but of course still respects the many numbers of people who partake in it. In fact, with the still present societal pressure of people “needing” to get together, have kids etc, in order to have a “fulfilling” life-I think this would be very beneficial to show. As for asexuals, perhaps there could be characters who do get together, but one of them is sex-repulsed and the other is completely supportive/okay with it/also asexual! Idk, just some ideas from an aroace. 🤗

I know nomi-nomi from exocolinest is demi-romantic and at least implied to be asexual. It's super cute because they use a roleplay scene in a (in universe) game to explore their identity which is probably like my favorite bit of aro rep in any media. Like, two enbies play flirting in a game and then chatting about romance and how they feel about it afterwords it's just such a unique experience. The game's not that focused on each individual character but still.

I have such a weird story with Alastor. I always pretended to be a radio host as a kid, and it was one of my favorite things to do! Then at ten years old I went to New Orleans (where Alastor is from) and instantly fell in love with it and felt peaceful and at home. Then, my dear friend said she felt compelled to introduce me to Hazbin Hotel, and Alastor helped me figure out I was aroace _and_ how I want to dress (I’ve always wanted to dress like that, just never had the chance to actually style myself before). Anyone from the SU fandom wondering why peridot is aroace: The majority of fusions focus on romance and even sexual themes. Peridot lacks this thus why we never see Peridot fusing with anyone

it’s unknown if peridot can or cannot fuse, but we don’t know, because before we can even know, she pulls away from garnet saying “ I cant do it. “, but cringes in a way that implies she’s not physically unable to, but that she’s too uncomfortable.

One thing's for sure, we could use more asexual characters in modern cartoon shows, especially since I was able come out as being asexual not too long ago, and the fact that Spongebob SquarePants and Perry The Platypus are Ace characters makes them even more appealing IMO. ^^
