The biggest mistake I ever made as a maker was taking on too many commissions and getting overwhelmed. I had to issue full refunds and get a full time job to complete some of the refunds. It took me 2 years to get my shit together before I started taking fursuit commissions again.

I would like to say that when canceling a commission you still agree to the terms of service. I had a client because I wouldn't rip off another makers style directly on the 3d printed base when I was more than willing to foam edit the 3d printed base when it was finished printing. They originally liked the base and I told them that is how I do things before the commission. Being more than willing to edit the base with foam is way workable but they didn't like that answer did a charge back without even asking for a refund or any notification including the down payment. Then lied to amino staff about communication claiming I didn't answer for months and the longest I didn't answer was when I had an emergency and was 10 days. And admitted to the staff that they planned to do the chargeback. They can ask for a refund but they did agree to a terms of service in the first place.

I've had to deal with a maker who ignored me. I sent the payment in full, was prompt and polite. Work started and a few months later, when I checked up on them, they had disappeared. I looked everywhere and finally found them. They had changed accounts and after messing them claimed they were half way through the work. After that they disappeared again and any attempt to contact them was in vain. They've completely disappeared and messages are left unanswered. This was a few years ago and I still have had no luck with finding them. The crazy thing is they had been posting photos on an alternative account somewhere of work but they seemed to completely ignore me and my commission (which was paid for in full, and thus they've gotten away with theft). I still want to find that maker and either get a refund or come to an agreement.

Hey Elk, any suggestions for someone who won a fursuit piece in a raffle a long time ago and lost communication with the maker a few months ago, and still hasn't recieved a product or even a queue update? Im sure it's different since no money is involved but I don't want to give up yet

My former maker hit many of these points, however, number one is their dictionary definition. Maybe once upon a time they were kind but somehow they are now bitter, mean, a liar and somehow made everything my fault. Due to what they did, I’ve been in and out of inpatient due to the PTSD and death threats they’re followers launched at me. I’ve wanted to make a fursuit review SO badly, so others don’t fall into their scams, but I know that they will continue to be immature about everything.

Excellent advice! I didn't have issues with my maker, but #1 has hit me a few times with artists, including two I'm working with now. They generally start on my commission right away and I get WIPs within a week, or 2. After that, nothing. I usually message the artists every month afterwards for status updates. 3 in the past gave me nothing. At month 5, I file a PayPal claim. Currently, one is not responding at all, while the other responds with "just give me a few more days, then nothing, until I message them again. In the meantime, they are still very active on the platform we communicate on and continue to take commissions. Each of these have about a month left before I ask for a refund, or file a claim. :-/ I get that life happens and things get away from us. Just TELL your client what is going on. We generally understand. Trust me, letting us know that there is a snag is FAR better than silence.

around 15:14 I think the reason they never responded to the customers emails was probably because you can report emails as spam and gmail will not show any emails from that source because it would all go in the spam file or section, or it would just go in the trash and not show anything at all. OR the maker could have changed business emails and logged out of the email you got to contact them.

As far as the fursuit maker shooting down design ideas from the client- thinking it won't look good their way- I think a good compromise is to tell them you have reservations about the design, explain why you dont think it'll look nice and then ask them if they would like to continue with it. That way if their problem is that they legitimately don't see the issue, they can properly consider all the angles

Eh, I bet the TOS’s of fursuit makers are very in their favor, but the biggest thing is the cost of lawyers/a lawsuit is probably way more expensive than almost any fursuit, making legal action impractical.

The hardest thing fursuit makers do is making fursuits xD

i think which part is hardest would be specific to the maker, wouldn't it?
@ishmellokat5 жыл бұрын
@@triangleshiny Im ok with some bias, I know she as hinted at some hard things makers come across in some of her videos; however really want to know what is truly is hard so us wannabe fursuit makers know what we need to do Better!
@triangleshiny5 жыл бұрын
i meant like, what parts are the "hardest" are completely individual. if you know how to sew, you're going to have an easier time sewing than someone whose never touched a needle and thread (or a sewing machine). if you've got sculpting experience/know how, you'll have an easier time knowing what to look for re: symmetry. things like that. so while she could give us a list of things she personally finds "hard" to do, it won't be much use to YOU if your experience doesn't line up. rather than focusing on a list of what's "hard", it'd be more useful to lay out a series of basic techniques (which i believe she's done somewhere, and if not there's plenty of makers who have), study and practice those techniques, find out where your particular strengths and weaknesses lie, and do your best to shore those up. edit: kzbin.info/aero/PLQKp0LJFZ5yr6JY9M6_pVJxAep6GIgjXd i found what i was thinking of

Have Autismn, talk in facts over feelings. At times I sound like I am educating a person when all I am doing is trying to communicate. Autismn is a communication problem. I have worked for years to communicate better but much of society hasn't put in the effort to understand and expect Autistic people to just be better at communication. That being said I at least try and need to break communication to smaller bits to try to understand to the point I can be annoying. Unfortunately for at least one or two of suits I want I cannot find a Maker who can make it currently. I want something that can handle the outdoors and also fighting with foam swords. My idea is leather mask head and either hemp fur or cotton fur potentially bamboo rayon fur. Unfortunately I have come off as a "Know it all" without meaning to be or rubbed a maker the wrong way without meaning. Though because of your color combinations and amazing suits I may want one from you but only if you allowed it. Though even if I would be allowed to Commission from you, it wouldn't be anytime soon.
