1) not committing , chasing lots of money making ideas 2) didnt build the systems 3)owned a franchise better to be independent 4)didnt set real goals 5)didnt systematise early enough / hire / get out of the field as too busy working in the business not on the business.

Well this is an old comment but, I have a cleaning business and I've known people who start them without any experience. There are 2 approaches find a mentor get under them and work an acct subcontracting or hire an experienced subcontractor and learn from them.
