Just found your channel, and it’s great timing! I’ve lost about 45 lbs recently, with another 15-20 to go. The problem is all my jeans are too big, and I need at least one pr. that fits until I’ve reached my goal. These tips are going to help. I’m probably older than most of your audience (65) and I remember the good ole days when Levi’s and then, Wranglers were the only real choices. With Levi’s, all you had to do was get a pair a couple sizes too big, run a tub of hot water, put the jeans on and sit in the tub for about 30 minutes. Then, get out and wear the jeans until they’re dry. Yes, it was a hassle. But, you put those jeans on after that, and they fit like they were made for you. They lasted a long time too. I had a pair when I was 16 that I could still wear when I was 35.

Great information. Yes jeans are so hard to get the right fit. Just wanted to share a pair of jeans that I found recently that fit great for a pear shaped body. The high rise itty bitty bootcut by democracy in a dark wash. As a pear shape with wider hips the high rise is great for not highlighting the hips so much.

You were so right saying that buying jeans is as hard as buying a swimsuit. For me is the hardest thing to buy. I’m pear shaped on petite side person with very short legs… so all these tips about straight jeans or long loose legs are making me look like a a square and extremely short person. It’s crazy that this video randomly popped up in my feed because for the last solid month I have been on a deep dive of finding jean’s that FIT my body. Not just fit, but reeeally “FIT”. I know you know what I mean! There is such a huge difference in jeans! Actually, it’s not ironic at all, since the algorithm probably knows what I’m interested in by now. 😂 I don’t know why I am just learning now, at age 40, that I need “curvy” jeans. This has made all the difference for me. I used to buy size 28 or 29 so that jeans would fit my hips, but then I always had big waist gaps and would have to hike up my jeans all day long. I finally discovered what I really needed all this time was curvy jeans in a smaller size and my problem has pretty much been fixed! Fabric content like you said, also plays a huge part in whether or not I end up still loving them by the end of the day. Anyway, I feel like my denim eyes have finally been opened and I don’t have to settle anymore! Thanks for this great video. 👏🏻
@yensid42943 ай бұрын
I always look for 98% cotton in a stretch jean & a thicker fabric. Regardless of what the brand says about the rise, I know that I need a 9" to 10" rise. I also know my inseam. Anything longer than 31" in a bootcut/flare is a no since I do not want to have to pay for hemming or cut off 3 inches & ruin the line of the flare.

I have given up. I do better with men’s midrise pants, jeans, and shorts. Better pockets are a bonus. Women’s mostly are too narrow in the leg - calf and quads- or they are wide legs which I don’t want either. Just normal timeless straight with some ease throughout the leg and hip and not gapping at the waist - whatever rise it is. So frustrating since skinny jeans became a thing.

Super guidelines and very informative but am surprised that re sizing you didn't mention ; since jeans are industrial made the same size 'n style in a brand can also vary as fabric is 'stacked and cut for many pairs' with no change in seam allowance stitching lines resulting in either a smaller or larger fit. In other words; one might consider trying on two pairs of size eight for comparison.
@AdoreYourWardrobe8 ай бұрын
Great point! I think it will depend on the manufacturer. Some brands like Old Navy has sizing that is super inconsistent, where other brands like Paige are more consistent. Inside of my course we teach the value of the tape measure. That way you KNOW before you take anything into the fitting room whether it will work or not.

Nice video, thanks. I was hoping to hear a few recommendations for companies that make either 100% cotton or a recommended mix.
@AdoreYourWardrobe9 ай бұрын
So, there isn't a recommended mix because it will depend on your body. For me, I love a 98% cotton, 2% stretchy stuff mix. But others love a 90% cotton, 3% stretchy stuff, and 7% polyester blend. I don't think there is a right or wrong fabric mix. But understanding how those fabrics WORK (so for example when you buy 3% or over stretchy stuff) is the important part. Having the knowledge that stretchy stuff will stretch out more as the day goes on and can break down in the dryer means you'll make the best decisions not only at the register, but at home too.

As far as the jeans go, I have to share that today, right this minute, I am wearing a new pair of jeans I just got for $5 at my thrift store and they. are. awesome! They’re LEE brand, Modern Series, Total Freedom, Straight Leg, sz. 10 Medium, They’re brand new, and a dark wash, they sit at the waist right across the belly button, they have elastic inside the waistband (not visible from the outside). They do have some stretch. But it looks like the reinforced elastic waistband was designed to keep them from slipping and sliding down all day like so many stretchy jeans do. I’m loving them!

If I knew I'd bought a pair of jeans that someone had worn for 6 hours I'd be totally grossed out. That's pretty disgusting. even if they've been tried on by multiple people, it's going to be for a matter of seconds. Someone wearing them for hours, going to the bathroom, maybe not washing their hands properly, or having the legs of the jeans hitting a dirty bathroom floor.

I get it. It feels gross to think about it. But the amount of wear that happens at a department store before you buy your jeans is about the same. It's kind of like thinking about where your meat comes from ... sometimes we just want to believe it is always in plastic at the counter.

Q: Do you have any brand name recommendations for 100% cotton denim jeans? Levi’s used to be my go-to faves in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Length is an issue for me as I usually wear a womens size 4 and a 35” inseam. It’s super frustrating to be a Small Tall and seek 100% cotton denim. The struggle is real. Thank you for this video.

My main problem is I have long hips . I’m short waisted but unlike those who get long legs with a short torso, my hips are so long my torso appears longer and my legs shorter. I absolutely cannot wear boot cut jeans or really any flare. They just make my legs look stumpy. But I also cannot wear skinnies because they emphasize my long wide hips. Boyfriend are the most comfortable but sometimes look too casual.
@AdoreYourWardrobe9 ай бұрын
Have you tried a straight or a wide-leg straight? They will be straight from either the knee or the thigh and can help elongate the bottom half of your body because you wouldn't see the contrast your are discussing between your hip to knee vs knee to ankle.
@susanyakus73645 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for this. The problem for me is that high waisted jeans don't work when you have a long torso. If you can get them up, you get the camel toe. The best jean I have found is a mid rise Kut From The Kloth. Everyone is different of course. I like the explanation of baggy jeans. I never could figure that out. Another jean I love, if you are a western person is Cowgirl Tuff. They are more like the old Levi's. Heavier fabric. When they fit, they fit!

If the fit feels too tight in the hips and thighs and shapewear seems like too much, a pair of pantyhose with the legs cut off below the knee can provide slip to allow the fabric to glide over skin better. Sounds wacky, I know. We used do do this on guys when shooting slacks for advertising. If their thighs were a bit muscular and the pants looked too tight, the pantyhose usually did the trick.
