I'm not afraid to buy any plane anymore. Even when people say it sucks. I just visit the Two Brothers RC channel and find the fix. Meanwhile, they are still debating on which new plane to buy, I'm enjoying my new PNP planes they passed up. AS3X+ is such a game-changer. The Wiki page is the best. I'm working on a new project. A hanger 9 XCub 60cc. It's huge. I took the covering off to shorten the wingspan from 116 to 105" increased the Ailerons by 25% and made the rudder and elevator 20% bigger. I always wanted a Giant scale XCub. Your channel motivates me every day to take on new projects to get them to fly better. Stay awesome, bro!

I've had mine hanging on my wall for a while now because I wanted to do a repaint on it. I have the 3d printed nozzles already but watching this vid makes me want to pull it off the wall and get it done. I fly off grass and found that you have to use lots of throttle on landing to not have the nose slam down so hard. What I did was cut the mains down like 7mm and added about 5mm to the nose gear and also put some spacers in the strut to stiffen the nose gear up. It really is such a stable jet but too heavy. Honestly didn't know about that long lead weight in the esc bay. Definitely gonna yank that out. Now I have a new purpose to finally finish mine. Gonna do it in the Ukrainian black and white digital camo (just because I like the digital camo livery. I don't care much for politics) thanks for the inspiration tho! Awesome job as always! 🫡🫡

It's been nice to see this channel develop into one of the most honest RC plane review sites around with work arounds and fixes for some of these marginal planes. I also find it interesting on how all these companies consistently screw up their CG recommendations. Every plane I've purchased since getting back into the hobby a few years ago is ridiculously nose heavy. I get that "they" probably think they are keeping pilots from wadding up their new planes but the problem then becomes the planes are so nose heavy they require higher landing speeds and you inevitably run out of elevator causing crappy landings tearing up what is for the most part in my opinion is universally weak landing gear due to the nature of the construction of foam planes.

It is unfortunate that almost every manufacturer defaults to nose heaviness. It's exceedingly rare when a plane doesn't fly better balanced neutrally or even slightly tail heavy. It's not for everyone, but it should be an option that doesn't require modding the airframe.

I've been flying this model for the better part of a year and agree that the mass and balance issues are just ridiculous! Yes it flies but that is faint praise. There is so much more to be found in the model with some simple mods that the FMS/Arrow management should have taken care of in the first place! I exchanged my 105 grams of mass for inrunner motors and still needed to add 50 grams of tail weight! The main gear is improperly placed. I had to move it forward 12mm and cut it down 16mm. It now lands and takes off as smooth as silk! I'm of the opinion that these modern jets fly so nice (post stall) is because the LEX actual still work at these small scales (try to keep them sharp). Changing the nozzle is not an option, it is a requirement! (thanks for that in the first video) I have a detailed write up of my mods on the RCM&E forum.

Jon, I forgot to ask (& I couldn't find it in the video), would you provide us with a numeric value for aft CofG point where you failed to recover from that flat spin? I know I sometimes don't know the numerical CofG location of my models as I keep moving the CofG until I'm comfortable and happy with the plan's response. Thanks.

I think you the only one, that can make a Spektrum gyro do stuff i never heard of. Or making crazy mixes in the transmitter. I been flying for 40yrs so i really never caught on to gyros , i have flown basic Spektrum on bnf planes but nothing like what you do.

Small correction, you're not actually (noticeably) compressing the air at this scale when adding smaller nozzles, you're simply increasing the exit velocity and thus the thrust. Great video, I love seeing these jets being set up to handle like real fighters and really putting AS3x to good use. Can't wait to get my hands on an FMS SU-27 some day. Also, once your gains are dialed in, what is your gain adjustment knob/slider % typically at?

I low key want this! I have the twin 80mm & love it. With those mods will it fly normal, no crazy rolls etc with out as3x or gyro? I dont use any assist in my planes or mig that i have, love the design of the mig & its twin motors. So all i do is normal high speed flying, rolls & some climbs. (Climbs is what im after more)

It'll fly fine sans gyro so long as you don't shift the CG as far aft as we did here.

@@Mroswaldo16 I'm flying at a CofG set at 118 mm (I think stock is 95mm) without gyros. I think I can go aft a bit (lot more) as I don't have to push forward as I slow down prior to the flair. I'm using SMC 4400 and love the flight times. Don't be afraid to add and keep adding lead to the tail.

It's lining the entire "floor" of the ESC compartment while the jet is inverted. Dig around in there, you'll find it!

The batteries have two ratings. The lower rating is what their capacity is when charged to 4.2v instead of 4.35v. Yes, we know what they are.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this jet out-of-the-box you along with the rest of the others are just too picky and want more for little than nothing, especially when you're considering the price point for this model. I mean I get it I know how you like your stuff, but just to cry about something the whole video just because it doesn't come out-of-the-box the way you like it. That's just a little ridiculous. Mediocrity is not the goal! There is a plethora of problems with the model as noted in the video! Most of these are as a result of some poor choices made by the project managers at FMS/Arrows. Many of these issues can/should have been addresses at no cost at the point of manufacture. Some issue were made to keep the model at a price point. The FlyFans Su-27 is a much better flying model out of the box, but it is exhibiting a lot poorer build quality. While the Arrows Mig-29 has a lot of potential the statement that "There's absolutely nothing wrong with the jet out of the box" is blatantly false. I and others like this type of review as it gives us the potential customer a very good idea of what the kit offers and the potential hidden in the product. It is also hoped that the OEMs will take notice that there is a huge segment of the market that is aware of the short comings of their offering. This should drive better products in the future. Nobody should settle for mediocrity!
