Stang Mode; Thanks for your honesty on mods . I talked to a Ford Performance Engineer on the benefits of long tube headers . His response was the headers will only give your Mustang 10 more HP at wide open throttle . He said the sound will be louder but the factory exhaust is a great flowing exhaust . So is 10 more HP worth say $1700 ? I really don't see how . Thanks again for your video. BULLITT K0040

My 18 Mustang GT is my daily. The only mods I have done are Barton Hybrid shifter, Raceseng Weighted Shift knob, Ford Performance X-Pipe (I live in California lol) and Steeda Lowering Springs. I think for the most part I am done. The lowering springs have really helped. Especially, for people that didn’t get magneride. From factory, the ride was too floaty. Sometimes, I would get this weird noticeable hop. Once, I went with the lowering springs, don’t really feel that any more. I think it depends on the wheels regarding 19s or 20s. I recently upgraded my tires and got 20s. Combine that with the lowering springs. The car handles better. Maybe it is a tad harsh. But hardly noticeable in my opinion.

But that being said, Yolo the Douche Bag, had mentioned that factory clutch is ass and contribute to the lockout. (I think it was something like that.)

I agree with most of your list. I did the full suspension routine on my 2014 (Ford Racing Adjustable). Yes it looked better an inch lower but I couldn't drive into half the parking lots around because I'd scrap the chin spoiler. I also ended up with clunks in the back every time i hit a bigger dip in the road and in Pa there are a lot of holes and patches. All this for $2,500 that I never got back at trade-in time. When I got my 2018 I put the money into factory options such as Magniride and tunable exhaust and have left the car pretty much unmolested. The only things I put on it were jacking rails and a passenger side catch can and I'm happy with it with the exception on the black rims. Given time I'll probably replace them. A big reason people put 20s on is because most 19s don't clear the Brembo brake calipers - Shelbys do and that's probably the direction I'll go in.

Full corsa exhaust, cold air intake, lowered on Eibachs, staggered 20" MMD wheels all around, louvers, tint, etc. I have no complaints but the ride is a bit harsh on 20" rims and lowered. I never drove a stock one so I can't compare, however, even though the ride is harsh the handling is unbelievable. Corners like it's on rails with little to no sway and it looks badass. I agree with most of your don't do. I have 20's and they are fine. 18+ with gen 3 coyote, catch can is a waste of money due to port injection cleaning the intake valves. Suspension, I have Steeda progressive springs and the ride is very close to stock until you push it. Also added the stop the hop starter kit, this mod makes the car quieter and more solid and keeps it planted. I agree, DON'T DO BUSHINGS! Headers are a waste unless you are boosting for max power. You have nailed some of the mods people do that ruin their daily drivability.

I did buy the passenger side FordPerformance for only $165 at Amazon that looks OEM with the factory looking hoses. It's a no brainer at that price. I empty it every half the time of my oil changes and I do get ounces of waste sludge. The reason why manufacturers dont include catch cans is because they don't expect non-gearheads to empty it... I’ve never been a fan of bushings. Drove a car with them and knew it wasn’t for me. As far as hooking up I’d say people that daily their cars are better off with getting better tires first and you’ll see a difference on a stock car. For me having a 15 performance pack I’ve left it stock since I brought it Dec 14 and Im happy. My previous 2012 was modded and I got tired of the noise, stiff ride and heavy clutch. I’m keeping my engine/exhaust stock for now, and The only reason I’m debating a driveshaft, is I’d like to drop as much rotational mass as possible.. wheels and tires saved me 8lbs per, saving 20lbs off a driveshaft would put me around a 350lb static equivalent. (don’t know exact conversion from rot. To static) as well as a mid pipe to drop a few more lbs and sound better. But retaining factory manifolds/ active valve mufflers. Also, rather than bushings I went the steeda supports/ stop the hop, and didn’t sacrifice quality of the ride!! It feels great, and no extra noise/vibration.

I have 20s on my super snake and they look awesome and drive perfectly fine. Catch cans work, mine captures lots of blow by, I empty it once a month. These are my only disagreements with you.

It's not about adding power directly. People always get this wrong. It's about opening up the flow of the exhaust for other mods that add power like superchargers, turbos etc. You don't want unnecessary restriction to get the biggest gains with those systems. Anyone who buys LTHs because they expect power gains from them doesn't have an understanding of how a car works. If you want it louder you don't need LTHs either, but they do offer a unique sound change. For many a simple cat delete will do wonders for the sound and freeing up the flow of the exhaust system, not as much as LTH would add but still.

I agree with almost all of this Stangmode. Where I differ is on the 1 piece driveshaft. If you are going to be tuning the vehicle; I believe out of safety reasons the 1 piece is a must. Not strictly because of power reasons but because of the transbrake now being unlocked and available. I understand not everyone will use it but the combination of power (especially on E85) and temptation of 3500 transbrake launches the 1 piece is bordering on a necessity. If you’re going to drag race tuned, even casually, you need one. Thoughts?

Very useful video, but I would have a slight difference in opinion on the wheels. I reckon that semi forged 20's improve the "sporty" feel of the car quite a lot as the 19's are a bit spongey taking corners especially with the very soft and cushey standard seats. On fair to decent roads, there is no reduction in comfort (they do jitter a little on rough patches). I've had mine on my 2019 for 3 years, very happy with the setup. Maybe it wouldnt be good with the harder reccaro(sp?) seats, as I tend to think with sports cars the seats smooth out the firmer ride.

I agree with the Headers, too unless you are one of them that obsoletely have to have that extra 20 horse power or your doing a Turbo set up..

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but here in Australia, the 18/19 only comes pretty much fully loaded, with the only options being Magneride, Recaros, spoiler and special paint/stripes. Dealers only order in the stocker (i.e. with dash, exhaust, leather, B&O, PP etc), or they order them in with all the above-mentioned options (sometimes also omitting stripes). I'm looking at a GT with just the Magneride, so I'll have to wait a few months, but that'll be the perfect setup for me.

My 18 Mustang GT Premium comes with the factory 20’s the ride is phenomenal. I had a 14 GT and that one came with the Track Pack 19’s and was also a great ride. It had summer tires and when I changed them to a all-season, the comfort went away. So I really have to say it’s the tire vs. the rim.

Vs. PP1 wheels, most 20's of similar width will be lighter. OD won't be much (if any different) if you stick with a similar size tire 275/40/19 vs. 275/35/20. So a lighter wheel, same width, with the same OD. The ride will likely be somewhat harsher, but everything else should be similar.

Agree with headers. Get a CAI, maybe a throttle body, H or X pipe, high flow bullet cats and if you don't like the stock active valve mufflers (if equipped) then borla or corsa mufflers. Agree with suspension except springs if you get a bit of a sloppy ride. Most dampers don 't hold up well with increased compression, you can actually blow your strut/shock seals, but changing some of the cast links and control arms, heavier panhards and strut towers, etc. to help with control - at ANY speed. Agree with driver's side can unless you're getting really heavy blow by. Unless you're adding a lot of power or want to reduce weight keep your drive shaft as is, they're heavy but strong....

I have a 2011 GT500 convertible. I disagree with the wheels, I have 20s on back and 19th on front and I think it rides and looks awesome. The one thing I would change on mine that I've done is I put a Corsa extreme exhaust system on it and although it is very loud I also get constantly harassed by the cops. I wish I would have gone with Borlo because mine is extremely loud almost like a race car kind of loud. I think I like the Borla sound better.

In my humble opinion, your suspension comments are indicating more the quality of the shop and install of bushings, headers ( only stainless headers are in the price range you quote ), and one piece drive shaft. I've had experience in all of these and I haven't experienced anything you have from properly installed parts. Philosophy side your opinion about full on drag racing.being the criteria, decide the history of hot forcing and the guy that enjoys open track a few times a year while enjoying being connected to the driving experience.Great channel. You really don't need to modify your car especially if it will be a daily driver. Too many dudes think they need to add mods to the car to impress other people, but the truth is no one cares. It's better to have a sexy looking comfortable car (and the S550 takes the cake in the sex department) than one that breaks your back, legs, and wallet for the tiniest amount of gains, if any.

Well, you and seven others might not care to, but.... some people might love their ride but want little tweaks to make it more personalized to them. Thats one of the lamest things Ive ever read on this channel. More people used to take pride in their cars and do stuff to make it identifiable as theirs. Nothing wrong with that... To each their own. If you like running a stock car that is vanilla like everything else out there, right on.. People def care about modded cars. There is no shortage of car clubs and races these days to prove that. Shit what number fast and the furious movie are they on now? Those movies always have shocked me with how horrible they are and how many people want to see them time and time again..

Great video couldn't agree more.. The Roush Power pack 1 gets close to 445hp at the tire.. Not bad given you keep your warranty, obviously a flex or e85 gets you better gains.. Even catch cans aren't really needed since the 18/19 have port side injection which keeps the valves clean, HOWEVER!! I did get a Ford Performance catch can, just for peace of mind.

When it comes to mods, you almost have to learn the hard way. Back in the day, I learned the hard way and now I thoroughly enjoy my totally stock 2018 GT, except for the BBQ tick. The Ceratec onlly kept it quiet for a short time, so now I'm just going to live with the tick.

Headers > Exhaust Unless the car has no exhaust at all, I don't see myself doing a muffler upgrade on my next Stang. I did shorty headers and a x pipe on a mustang and always got compliments on the exhaust and surprised everyone when I told them it was still factory mufflers on the car.

I have a great deal more confidence driving in a very spirited fashion on my favourite or any mountain roads with my Shockwerks coil-overs (body roll effectively eliminated) and 20 inch rims (better grip and handling with 275/305 tires)) that the benefits and pleasure received far outway putting up with any downside. Besides that, the black/machined Steeda wheels fitted to my 2018 are very unique in Australia and are an eye/head turner and I regularly get comments on how sexy the car looks - sometimes the 'wow' factor destroys the down side of a mod, and particularly, if the downside is quite liveable and not such a downside even for every day driving.
@Spiritcr1jsher4 жыл бұрын
100% correct . Also , a lightweight driveshaft doesn't help 1/4 mile at all . You launch the car at optimal revs so the ability to rev up faster doesnt help . Not to mention there is less energy stored on a lighter driveshaft in a drag race.

I agree with yes.. For the cost for some of the mods, might as well suck up the cost and power add it... Just got 10k today with my 18, not much in the mods department yet, mostly nice external ones. Power added, will do on the 1yr Mark and sure the bugs are out with warranty in tacked, also see what comes out... (Had a couple stall issues, but clean for a while).
