That's called Anhedonia. My Grandmother was very narcissistic and this abuse has it made it very hard to come back into my mind and body, to know how I'm feeling, to have words. It filled my hole too, and it made me productive, and helped me by giving me the energy to work on myself constantly, daily, for a decade. I don't feel addicted at all, more like dependant and that's okay. How is the lack of feelings and motivation *NOW*, brother? Thank you for sharing your story, I appreciate it. I'll be sure to learn and pass the tools on.

I also don't have feelings on it and I am EXTREMELY lethargic and exhausted on kratom! I basically sleep through my whole life and NEVER have energy! 🥴😞😪 Also nothing makes fun anymore besides sleeping! I don't go skating anymore I don't do anything anymore! Not even eating makes fun. I eat very little and I lost a lot of weight so I am way to skinny. 😢😪

the best way to not get anhedonia is to taper off the opiod/kratom. I kicked methadone 3x fist tme was 10mg after a few years of use and got anhedonia,second time i was on around 4 years and 20mg and quit and got it was way worse,this time i was on it 14 years and a peak of 188mg, I tapered down to 5mg and leaped off and got no anhedonia.im at day 92 since last opiate

I was on Kratom for 5 years. I’m 23 and went to detox for alcohol 48 days ago. It was actually a blessing because that same day I also stopped taking Kratom. I had tried many times to stop taking it, but I just couldn’t get through the withdrawals. I’m very fortunate that the detox process made my symptoms much more mild. Without that I would probably still be taking it. (Same with alcohol) I feel so bad for what I’ve done to my body. I’m putting an end to it now and moving forward. 48 days clean from everything. I also wanna add HOLY SHIT the amount of money I’ve spent on kratom in 5 years.

Thank you for sharing your story. My son is now on kratom after abusing opiates and Xanax for many terrifying years. I don't like nor am I comfortable with him going from the pills to leaning and depending on another substance. He's like a dumbed down zombie very depressed. He's not my child that I knew he doesn't use any of his many talents. It breaks me that hes losing year after year of his precious life. I'm going to share your video with him. Well I think Kratom can be good for someone like your son's situation but he's obviously abusing it as well. If he's that messed up, he's probably taking the high potency extract shots. Those are also really expensive. He needs to stop abusing the K and use it responsibly to ween off the other drugs!

If the kratom is keeping him off Xanax and pain pills it’s a good thing. I know it’s another addiction, I personally have been where your son is, definitely the lesser of two evils. Xans and most likely pressed pillls is so dangerous. Very difficult to overdose on kratom. But it’s definitely not without its own side effects

Turning 30 this year, spent the entire year as a rampant alcoholic, and used kratom to help get me sober. I’m glad I came across these kinds of videos before I got in too deep and unaware of the terrible side effects. Was using for about 3 months and stopping now hoping it isn’t too too bad. Can say that it at least probably saved my life since I was downing a fifth of vodka a day for years. Here’s to being clean from everything.

I've been using it since 2014. For me, pretty easy to go on and off as long as I plan and execute a long taper. Otherwise I don't find it harmful, and for my chronic pain issues it can be a lifesaver. If the choice is being hooked on K vs. prescription painkillers I'll take the kratom. Good that people speak up about how it can be harmful for some people. Everyone has their own sensitivities and needs, never believe any simple narrative about something like this, it's always complicated and individual.

I advise tapering slower than you think you can handle. Remember, the active compounds stay in your system for days, so you can cut your dose in half tomorrow and feel mostly fine but in a few days you'll be feeling horrible if you continue to cut at that rate. Step it down by 10-30% per week, feel out your sensitivity to withdrawal symptoms, and don't assume everything is fine because you've gone two days and feel fine, give it time for the levels in your body to come into line with what you're ingesting.@@brents4225

Hey Dan. Great story. Everybody’s story is different! Some things work for people and some dont. Good for you really! Kratom just makes me feel alive and no nerve pain. I don’t hide it from anyone. I was prescribed benzos for 9 years and when I realized I was drinking to increase the feeling I knew I had to quit. I was going to lose my family and friends. Doctors kept pushing other alternatives that were still benzodiazepines. Since kratom I don’t take anything else and I don’t want to drink at all. God bless.

If you watch any of these testimonies on the horror stories of cradom they are all abusing it they're basically drug addicts looking for a high and using it for not the right purpose if you take it at the recommended dosage and don't abuse it it'll work fine But like any supplement or medicinal if you take it in excess I need to take more and more you're gonna have a serious problems. My nurse practitioner and I spoke and she said, "no one woke up in the morning (or whenever they woke up) and said, "I would like to ask my life up this morning or this day"! There are many reasons and situations that occurred in many of these people's lives and please do not judge what choice they made that led to an addiction or a physical dependence! My nurse practitioner and I discussed that people without any disposition or genetic reason to become addicted to opiates or opioid derivatives since the physical symptoms are so awful, that this can happen to anyone I know a wonderful pharmacist that is stabilized on prescribed Suboxone and ADHD medication that has changed everything for this pharmacist and now is stabilized!

I’ve been taking for 3-4 years now and am up to 30-40 grams a day. Withdrawals for me are unbearable. I naturally get restless legs and now when I start withdrawing the extreme restlessness is all the way up my chest. Hot water helps. But holy hell the depression I get is like my soul is dead. Last time I made it 5 days and even though I physically felt okay by then, the depression was unspeakably horrible. I’m incredibly inclined towards depression and anxiety. When I was 9 I was put on prozac. I have NEVER felt any depression half as bad as I get in withdrawals and I’ve been addicted to other drugs. Even a few hours after dosing I start collapsing mentally. I’m so sick of this shit. I feel like I’m gonna puke all day. For a while I was even addicted to alcohol and this and I got over that cause a single beer makes me puke now. Also I know alcohol just made me dramatic and didn’t help with the emotional extremes. I’m just trying to get through each day but I’m losing it. I’m also a musician. I have been obsessed with guitar, many other instruments, composing, electronic production, recording, writing lyrics, etc since I was like 12. I literally don’t remember the last time I listened to a song. I never finish anything I start cause I’m just not feeling it. The only thing that makes me feel comfortable and alive is kratom. I’m trying to taper but I know it will take so long it feels like I’ll never be free.

Ending a 2 year stint myself. About 8-16g a day. Like you, not a whole lot in comparison to some other people's intake, but it was enough to notice a sizeable difference in every day life. Only approaching day 2 of a taper and its not been easy. I'm a recovering opiate addict addict, having picked up on kratom to ease out of THAT addiction, but I'll be frank, the withdrawals aren't that much different. Similar body aches, anxiety, depression, malaise. But the guilt i don't have to wake up to anymore, knowing my relationships will improve, that makes it worth it. I was using 30 plus grams a day I would just toss the powder and wash it down with water. After year and a half two years I quit cold turkey it was by far the most miserable thing I've ever gone through. Like an idiot and started taking the stuff again I'm using pill form now. I was consistently around 10 to 15 g a day and then I started drinking these little 2 oz bottles of cava kratom and rosemary. I noticed when I would drink those I would use less kratom in the pill form. So I got to drinking four maybe five of those a day. Yesterday I decided I need to start tapering off this crap. So I only drink one bottle of the tincture and 3 g of the pills before bed. It was pretty miserable that's why I took the three grams in the hopes that I would get some sleep. Today again I've had one bottle and no pills. I don't feel 100%, I'm sluggish have a headache. Really wanting to be off it but I cannot do the cold turkey thing the last time I did the cold turkey I had to call into work a couple days cuz I just couldn't function.

Suggestion: Seems you typically take short inhales and hold your breath, not exhaling much. Whether or not you indeed do this (which can be hard to tell for oneself if such a habit is all one is used to), constantly staying at the top of one's breath (nearly fully inhaled) can feel stressful. Try FULLY exhaling. See how far you can push the exhale. Is there room to continue exhaling in your upper chest? What about your lower chest? People have five lung lobes. Be careful trying, but see what you can do. Full exhales are typically half the speed of full inhales, and such full breathing can include a hold at the 'top' of the inhale that's three times the duration of the inhale: inhale, hold, exhale; 1part, 3parts, 2parts. Know that not fully exhaling, just keeping 'stale' air in one's lungs minimizes one's state of mind (decreasing 'thought bandwidth'), making one anxious and hyped up. Continually taking more full breaths relaxes and vitalizes. Again, if anyone is trying what I suggest to op, BE CAREFUL. Ease up and return to more normal breathing if you're feeling light headed and cannot shortly/quickly find a balance among inhaling, holding, and exhaling to not be light headed. Holding breath by the way of not fully exhaling, can help maintain depressive thinking.

I learned this mainly from my own personal yoga practice (which is another reason you should be skeptical of what I write). Extension: Total Yoga by Tara Fraser is where I learned the 1part inhale, 3parts hold, 2parts exhale strategy for breath extension/fullness. Caution: Safety first for yoga in general because yoga practice is not without risk: one can find this in many places of teaching. Total Yoga also includes this warning for different contexts of practice. Respiratorily "stale" air: I expect one can find also this in many places of practice. In Total Yoga, chapter The Vital Breath, section The Effects of Pranayama, info box Pranayama and the Respiratory System: "Through pranayama we breathe using the diaphragm fully; the upper and lower lungs are completely filled with air and stale air is fully exhaled." My own regular practicing for about two years of this breath fullness/extension, with related, serious scientific and yogic interests, has shown me (I, myself) how one's mood can change quite quickly and dramatically by breathing more fully from an initial state of restricted breath, which is typically habitual for many of us (as reported in Anatomy Trains by Thomas Myers, a manual and movement therapy textbook.) Somewhat technical territory: Your understanding of the lungs' continuous reliance on atmospheric pressure to operate accords with mine. Our understandings of staleness disaccord at air movement. Without pushing out the air we use to respire (so that we can inhale new air), the constituents (carbon dioxide concentration being one mediating factor) of the air in our lungs remains in a state of aftereffect of the respiratory process (one factor being having a post-respiration higher level of carbon dioxide). Releasing that post-respiration air to intake new air with a comparatively lower concentration of carbon dioxide gives the respiratory process (which is a chemical and mechanical process) a reactant environment more appropriate for both delivering oxygen to your body's cells and having your cells then take up that oxygen. Not exhaling pauses that processes. Not fully exhaling reduces the efficiency of that process. Not all air is the same. Respiration affects air constitution. Fully exhaling rids the body of products-state air to make lung space for reactants-state air. If exhaling isn't necessary for respiration, one might be able to argue that there would be no need at all to 'breathe,' that with one full inhale one could then clamp one's nose shut, never open their mouth, and respire forever. But hold one's breath and come to see that such is not the case. This sense of urgency, at least the initial sense, from holding one's breath majorly comes from a buildup of carbon dioxide. We are very sensitive (all(?) organisms are) to carbon dioxide concentrations in our bodies. Feeling anxious AND not breathing fully? Makes sense to me within this view I write above. Wherever I learned this I am glad you are skeptical, and I encourage also others to scrutinize the meaning represented in my writing. Again, be careful trying this, people. Breath control is NOT WITHOUT RISK. Still, one can practice on their own safely with carefulness. I recommend both Total Yoga and Anatomy Trains for those who feel interest in these topics. TY is an easy-use book, but AT is technical text for, but not solely, practicing manual therapists (one which I am not). tl;dr: Read slowly and multiple times if this is dense: Post-respiration air is not the same as pre-respiration air. Lack of exhalation stops up the respiratory process. One's body requires enough pre-respiration air to respire as a chemical process requires enough reactants to be undergone. Reducing capacity for refreshing pre-respiration air by restricting exhalation reduces respiratory efficiency and capacity (Le Chatelier's principle, anyone?), which is one of many paths to anxiety and, chronically, depression. Breathe fully and feel better than if you were to breath in restriction.

Could it be that your quitting kratom also happens to coincide with / exasterbate and therefore subjectively mark the start of what seems to be a clinical depression? Maybe you should reach out to a mental health professional and see if there's things that you could work through. You mentioned a lot of positive stuff happening in your life - sometimes a positive yet drastic change sets you back initially, maybe you need some time to solidify your new direction and to re-anchor yourself. Using Kratom daily seems to be a dead sure path to addiction. When you started using it, were you aware in any way of its addictive potential? I discovered it only recently, and I saw big fat warnings about how you can get addicted literally everywhere. So I have been using it with caution, maybe every 1 to 2 weeks. At this level it seems like a safe and innocent pleasure. Or did you also start by using it rarely and then lapsing into daily use eventually?

10g is nothing. You were on "opiates" for years in the manner you refer here. Kratom is an opioid. An atypical opioid. You likely have a different profile of liver enzymes that causes you to metabolize kratom weaker, others have it such that they metabolize mitragynine into 7-OH-mitragynine in their body which is stronger than morphine. Far from "not being an opioid". You can google the scientific publications on the alkaloid metabolism of kratom, or read thousands of people's direct obvious experience with turning to complete junkie life, as you would any other "opiate". Only difference with kratom is you don't stop breathing because it doesn't affect beta-arrestin pathway. Edit: Congrats on getting off methadone. Kratom is useful in the sub-set of people that have liver enzymes like you where they don't get much opioid euphoria, and is used as a way to taper off dependency to other things.

First of all....Kratom is NOT a drug, nor is it an opioid, and I'm sick of people putting that misinformation out there!! You talk about being "high" on Kratom like it's some kind of stupor-inducing substance, like you can't work or drive a car while taking it, (unlike alcohol and Marijuana) and this is just not true. In fact, driving while high on weed is just as dangerous as driving drunk; I know, because I used to do it, and I don't even like weed, due to the severe paranoia it always caused me, but I had a few friends who used to chide me into taking a few hits, and that's the only reason I ever used it. I tried CBD oil for chronic pain; it did nothing for the pain, and it made me paranoid as well; I just don't like that shit at all. I was an RN until I could no longer endure the physical demands of the job, due to bone and joint issues, so I understand a thing or two about pharmacology and the pharmacodynamics of both drugs and supplements. Kratom isn't even a drug; it simply binds to the opioid receptors, which gives you an opioid feeling, but that's about where the similarities end. Withdrawals, IF you even experience them, are NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD as an actual, REAL opioid, TRUST ME, and I am tired of "12-step program" proponent groups like AA and NA telling people that they have a problem, even if they only ingest(ed) these substances occasionally. I took Kratom every day for about 2 years after several major surgeries, and when I no longer needed it, I stopped. Sometimes, when I need a boost to my mood, I'll take a few caps of it, and there's nothing wrong with that. No, Kratom does NOT "rewire your brain" like an actual real opioid DOES, either. I guess maybe I'm one of the lucky few; I can take these substances or leave 'em. I did coke a LOT for about a year in college, for the energy, but amphetamines and amphetamine-like drugs just don't do much for me; they just kept me awake, like caffeine; when I realized the money I was wasting on it, I just stopped, no problems, and I don't miss it. I can take alcohol or leave it; ditto for drugs like Xanax, and narcotic painkillers....Hell, stopping many common prescription antidepressants can cause withdrawals in some people. Personally, I can party hard daily for a year, then I say to myself, OK, you're wasting too much money on this shit, and I just walk away, no withdrawals. I think a lot of these "addictions," especially to simple supplements, are more psychological than physical, with some exceptions, like an actual opioid or a benzodiazepine like Xanax, Valium, or Ativan. Just sayin....PLEASE, EVERYONE....STOP CALLING KRATOM AN OPIOID, and for that matter, a drug at all!

No, kratom doesn't get me "high", it feels like caffeine plus a little happiness. I definitely work well on it, I've been taking it every day for 10 years. I didn't know it was so addictive, when I first took it, the info wasn't out like it is today. However. The withdrawals are horrific.

That's the case when you take a low dose. Sub 10g usually. As is the case for most opioids, which merely give a relaxed well-being and energy at low enough doses. However, as is the case with them all... it's too enticing to keep pushing it up. Only difference with kratom is that it's an atypical opioid and very dependent on liver metabolism for the effects, thus my theory is that the reason some people don't get the same euphoria from it is due to varying enzyme profiles. Other people with stronger metabolism basically feel in the same league as a percocet or any other moderate opioid, with the caveat that it doesn't stop breathing - it's common to catch a nod on kratom with no tolerance granted this physiology.

I'm fixing to start cutting down just like that. Going to take it slow dropping the dose every other week or once a week. A world of addiction: Many have no idea what Kratom even is and when you tell em "drug addicts" than they post all day and scroll through social media like a zombie looking for the next dopamine hit like the MASSES do. Than others will say they would never do Kratom and dont have social media: while they binge on fast food, sugar filled dompamine drug addicts. addiction is addiction: iv seen plently put down the kratom to pick up the smart phone, put down the smart phone to pick up the cheese burgers and cupcakes, others to put down all of that to pick up the playstation controllers as much as possible and the weed, Than put down the weed and controllers to pick up the booze!!!!.....on and on the circus goes. Some addictions are 100% acceptable while others are taboo and terrible: we live in a world of 24/7 addiction of endless variety - all take you away from what you trully need and want to do.

First thing I noticed about taking Kratom was my motivation to go to the gym, I used to get exited to get the weight or bag work. but then I started noticing me dragging ass. watching tv in my gym clothes really taking a long time to go. then When I get there I do the bare minimum and leave. That's my biggest reason to quit. if im not motivated to hit the gym anymore I wonder where else its affecting my life that I might not see.

What was it like going from kratom to hydros? I've never had a big issue with opiates but kratom was always available and fairly affordable. Needless to say I've been taking it for a long while. I've gone through WD before, off of other things, but it hasn't been a viable option in a long time. Would you think an actual opiate, like hydrocodone, would lessen the effects of "high" dose kratom WD?
@mikehunt4797
@mikehunt4797 Жыл бұрын
@@l0lan00b3 I think it would probably be a lot stronger but it would depend on how much you took. It could help get rid of all the WD symptoms but if you stayed on it too long could be worse then being on Kratom. id maybe replace the Kratom with low dose of opiate but only for like 4 to 5 days max.
