Showing the full circle of meat from calf to field to fork( well its implied)is such a great thing to do and shows what a great system you have on farm.

Never be afraid to show the shop side, including the butchery - way, way too many people are far too far removed from what they eat. Cattle exist for two reasons - dairy and (then) meat. No dairy, no meat = no cattle - they would not be left to wander majestically across the countryside if that was not so.

It's super important and a valuable education. Lots of people are ignorant of the work that goes in and assume livestock is treat horribly rather than well looked after and well cared for.

I was going to make a sarcastic comment regarding the state of affairs with regards to you showing the hanging meat. What you do at your farm is the most natural and humane way to harvest beef. Do not be afraid to show it. Well done. 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourselves, be safe, and healthy 🇨🇦

Cracking video 👍 As already said, good to see the full circle of beef production. You can't expect everything to go to plan 100% of the time but it's the way you tackle and get around the problems that actually matters. Keep up the good work 👍😊

What’s to stop the dished kerb stones moving separately to the slab next to it? Usually you dish or trough into top of a concrete slab so it’s a monolith, you could resin dowel and tie the precast units to tie it into the slab and each other. I hope I’m wrong but I can foresee movement causing gaps to occur then you’ll get washing’s going under the slab.

Hi Tom, we sprinkled carborundum on the final surface and power floated it in, made a super strong and more importantly a non slip surface for the cows. Personally wouldn’t have bothered with gully but nonetheless coming along nicely 👍 Remember to get sparkey to put you double plug sockets at each end of the parlour on the conduit that carries your strip lights. Handy for clippers , radio or fans.

Great job well done.The wall finish i was expecting a smoother finish on the walls it needs plastering then fiberglass to have a smoother finish or just plaster it and paint it. It hurts the look of the parlour. Its all a learning curve!

It is always a joy watching Mark on the job. He says little, but it is blatantly obvious that he takes his craft very, very seriously. A true professional. The parlour is coming along very nicely. I can't wait to see all of the equipment in and mostly, the cows being milked. Whilst obviously appropriately sized, until everything is in, it looks deceptively narrow. Watching a house being built is similar. Until the decorating is all finished, the rooms look almost too small to be useful. Especially here in Japan where the wooden frame and the roof of a house go up in a day, leaving just a skeleton and the leaving one with a sense of panic of it seeming to be too small! I love watching this process and seeing the genius of the architects coming to fruition. Very exciting stuff Tom. I'm also glad you showed the carcasses in the fridge. Not unusual for me, as I grew up on a farm and in the '70s and early '80s, we could legally slaughter the animals (lambs) on the farm (the butcher did it) and I remember watching the whole process. The worst was sucking the air out of the freezer bags with a straw to put the meat in the freezer although watching an animal being slaughtered is never a joyous event. The change in legislation means that this obviously doesn't happen anymore, but I'm glad I experienced it as it taught me to appreciate the fragility and importance of life and taking only what you need. This is why I have a strong dislike for 'eat all you can' buffets.
@ourv9603

YEARS AGO, I was talking with a longtime trucker. He said he had hauled every kind of load there was but the hardest loads there are to haul are loads of hanging beef. He said what makes it hard is when you make a turn, all the carcasses swing & all that weight goes to the outside and if you arent careful, the weight can push you right off the road & into the ditch. He said there is no relaxing while hauling swinging beef. You have to be on your toes every second you are rolling. !

Hey Tom loving the videos.. showing me a farming life I was brought up on and but unfortunately my father left years ago . Always makes me wonder how life on the Dairy farm would have been. 1 question is there a reason why the parlour walls were left bare brick before the fibre glass was put on them 🤔 .. many years of scooping cow poo from the Dairy you soon realise it sticks to everything 👍

.... curious as why you do not use hashtags ...... exciting stuff ..... you say extra 60 quid for the pump, looked like all those wheel barrows where brand new .... the slower the concrete dry's out and gets lighter the stronger the concrete. Where it is hot burlap is layed over and kept wet .... you must be right chuffed to be only 6 weeks away from being in a real parlor again ..... always right impressed as to how you recognize/praise/promote all the trades ..... did not realize you had your own butchers on site .. always impresses me seeing a butcher cut down a side into all the various cuts .... fingers crossed on the TB thingy, can't imagine having that unknown hanging over your head .... another great video .. thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ...

It will be interesting to see how the girls like it and how quickly they learn the new routine, it's so exciting because you have have wanted this new parlour for so long bless you. Are pleased with the fibreglass and how it is looking, having the parlour as open as it is will have helped with getting rid of the smell of it being done.
