When I was drinking I would fill my green bin every 2 weeks with budwieser cans. I haven’t touched a drop for over a year now👍🏻👍🏻

The first month was great with so much extra energy. After the "honeymoon phase" ended I spent 2 months on the couch completely drained and even needing a nap every day. 4 months in now and energy slowly coming back. For some it just takes longer for the brain to learn how to produce dopamine and serotonin naturally again.

Well done Claire. I've been sober for just over 12 years. The freedom that I have as a result of sobriety is on e of the many benefits that keep me on track. For example, if I decide to go for a walk or a drive at any time of the day, I can without the fear of coming undone through misadventure.......... 5 months sober sure is a game changer. Keep the videos coming. Thanks, Sean.

Thank you for this video! I appreciate the point about the recycling. Every benefit counts! I am 44 and "Forever Single" as of now. I am kind of similar to you in that I am not about to lose everything, but my drinking is definitely problematic. I am not ready to stop yet, but let's see if I can do just one week starting tomorrow, June 1st! It doesn't have to be January 1st!

@@Testing-sobriety Hi Claire!I am proud to say I am one week alcohol free!! I am really proud of myself. I'm wondering how it finally clicked, haha! Some benefits I've seen are a better mood. I am less irritable and even felt a happy mood, which I don't often feel. I am also getting more done, which helps my self-esteem. When we haven't done anything, we get frustrated with ourselves. It's just a cycle. When we've completed things (even small things like making the bed) we're not ruminating on everything we haven't done. I'm not going to lie, I may want to drink this weekend, but at least I've made a start. I also want to say you look absolutely beautiful! Compared with earlier videos, I notice a sparkle in your eyes and speaking more confidently.

Well done! I am 8 days in to quitting drinking now. Almost 6 months in to quitting cannabis. I was very much the same type of drinker as you were and one hurdle is that everyone says I am a ‘good drunk’ and don’t have a real problem. But I know myself and I do have a problem as one drink always leads to 6+. This is my first time in my adult life being fully sober aside from my pregnancies. Thank you for sharing your journey! I am very happy for you that one hugely positive thing has been finding a healthy relationship!

Brilliant it’s so good to recognise it, no one else can be the judge of such things but it’s so easy to be enabled to do the things we want and are habitually doing. Keep going!

Well done Claire. I love your updates and it's good to hear about all of the positive things that being alcihol free has given you. I am 9 months sober and I have also noticed so many positives - wonderful sleep, I love to awaken fresh without a hangover or memory loss of the night before. I have saved a lot of money. I am more productive. I am so much calmer and can't seem to get angry easily. My skin is clearer and I just feel like my health is so much better. I do have a lot of time on my hands now. Like you I haven't really been tested yet as I haven't been to any parties. I think the only time I would feel tested is if I was at a party and there was a lot of dancing as alcohol loosens you up. Annie Grace is an alcohol coach on you tube she offers great advice. Keep on going. It's nice you have found a nice man who you are well matched with 😊

Definitely agree with you there about watching the sober videos. I also stopped on january first. Ive lost about stone by have been on diet and upped the exercise due to having a lot more energy. I am getting anxious about summer events but just going to take a day at a time. Your skin looks amazing, i dont think ive had any issues with my skin since stopping drinking and money i have saved is huge. Well done

Thank you! Well done I’m trying to eat better and exercise more so hopefully that will help. Yes summer events definitely can feel daunting but just imagine the day after, a clear head and full memory. We can do it!

Hi Claire. I love your updates. You look really healthy so don’t worry if you haven’t lost any weight. I recently bought “The Sober Diaries” by Clare Pooley on Audible. I listened to the whole thing and then re-listened to parts which were relevant to me. She didn’t see any weight loss for months, but then when it happened, it was dramatic, as if her body had suddenly reset, so be patient, it might happen to you. I was sober for 6 weeks. I felt great, but felt I was missing out at social events. Now I make sure I have more sober days in a month than drinking days and I drink moderately. I drive whenever practical. I’d really like to be sober, I think I need a buddy to do it with…

Almost 5 months sober here, as someone who would drink most evenings, a couple of large glasses of wine. Similar experience of dating- always half cut and gregarious, when I’m really a huge introvert. Lost weight,had high energy initially, but this has evened out now. On the downside, I don’t really enjoy going out in the evening and try to avoid, this isn’t great for me, I need to work on this if I’m to maintain this abstinence! Thanks for sharing your experience, it really helps 🤗
@Testing-sobriety3 ай бұрын
Thank you! I totally understand, could you find something social in the evenings non drink related? Like a hobby group, choir, evening class?
@Zzzzzzzzz2163 ай бұрын
@@Testing-sobriety I do Sewing related things (very difficult after a few glasses of wine) or walk the dogs. I think the desire has reduced considerably after over 5 months. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
