12:59 This quest pissed me off because both end choices are to kill Niellen, even though he tells Mizlav in White Orchard that he can help with lycanthropy and Niellen didn't kill Hannah on purpose. It irks me that there wasn’t even an option to help the guy who was a victim to his condition, one that he tried and failed to cure on his own.
@bradleybourgeois471010 ай бұрын
While I do agree that it is a shame you can't free the Niellen from his lycanthropy, I do think the option where he follows Geralt to be killed to make sense. The poor werewolf just found that he killed his beloved wife by his own hands, accident or not, thanks to his sister-in-law being jealous of his relationship with his wife. Also, Margret said that he wouldn't stop until the one reponsible for his wife's death was punished and as the one who killed her must be killed in recompense. Besides, if I'm correct Niellen doesn't remember the details of transformations and would forget about the truth that was revealed to him during the quest, so that only adds more motive to put gasoline on his pyre to ensure that he is killed for his crimes.

Which in the case of the Novigrad succubus in 4:40, means killing her. I disagree with Neon here, that one is guilty as fuck. Guards, medics and the notice board all say guards were killed "in recent days" and that it is a "string of murders", heavily implying the deaths didn't happen all at once but over the course of some time.
@OneLastScholar9 ай бұрын
Yet the succubus only claims she "does not lie" and "does not kill without reason" and that it was "to defend herself". Makes no sense why she would expose herself to life-threatening situations every day, so either it happened all at once (unlikely, given all other evidence) or she is lying.

@@OneLastScholar Yes, but remeber that quest happens in Novigrad, which is so deep into the Eternal Fire Cult that is able to blame, lie, torture or/and kill beings that posses any little drop of magic in their body, a Succubus who killed a man in self defense is the most forgivable of crimes in a city where deaths can be (and will be) lied about who and when happened. The Wild at Heart quest is one of the most interesting outcomes for me. On one hand, you could argue that Geralt would kill Niellen because he's a werewolf threatening to kill a human woman. However, every time I play through this quest, I'm always reminded of one of my favourite scenes of the entire Witcher series, specifically with first Witcher game's final boss and a very important quote from The Grand Master as Geralt towers over him with a silver sword: "That sword...is for monsters!" This is very telling of Geralt's character that we obviously know well enough at this point. And as you mentioned in regards to that specific trailer, that our Witcher is fully aware that humans can also be monsters and won't hesitate in slicing a few heads (also reminiscent of the quest with that Witcher from the Feline school in which Geralt lets the guy walk away) And exactly why I always allow Neillan to kill the sister. Because I find the end result to be a lot more interesting. I was surprised to say the least. If you do consider discussing this in a seperate video, the final scene from the first witcher game might be worth mentioning. Wonderful vid!

Being Geralt must be very exhausting when he has a main quest to do. He can't walk away from evil being commited if he runs into it but sometimes they're really are more important things to do. I remember loading an earlier save on the last one because i didn't want the werewolf to die. He had things under control untill the sister interfered. Though yeah if the player can easily pick up on the sister being a liar, no way Geralt couldn't. Interestingly when I went back you can ask a villager about them. He mentions the sister being killed by a wolf and the guy leaving the village. Seems he found out the truth eventually.

Those encounters where you kill 2-5 people to save one really got to me my first playthrough because it seemed like a numbers game, but subsequent playthroughs they made more sense that Geralt will always defend the defenseless. Killing monsters - even Human ones - to save an innocent person is just his way. I'd say that one of if not the only one I still question is the one were 3 Elves are going to kill the drug dealer who's been selling tainted fistec. That's probably the only time I let the mob kill the guy.

i'll happily start the debate on the wild at heart final choice if neon won't lol. it's one of my favourite side quests mainly for that, i think it does a great job of showing the difference between geralt's moral compass and a typical adventurer. the woman is awful and the hunter is a good guy, so naturally a lot of people will think leaving him to kill her and not killing him is the moral thing to do. and that might be true, but im 100% sure geralt doesn't do that, because two defining characteristics of geralt are that he will almost never decide someone deserves to die, and he cares a lot about his responsibility to deal with potentially harmful monsters. it's important to note that she didn't deliberately kill her sister, she just wanted to steal her husband which is cruel but not anywhere near bad enough to deserve death, and doesn't suggest that she could hurt anyone again. and more importantly the hunter proved beyond a doubt that if he ever changes at a bad time, or if someone wanders too close to his hideout, he will attack anyone he sees. so you have a woman geralt would never think deserves to die, and a werewolf who's proven to be extremely dangerous to humans threatening to murder her right in front of him. in that scenario i don't ever see geralt walking out, he'd not even consider the idea of letting her die, and it's his job to kill the werewolf. and in the end she got what she deserved by losing the man she accidentally killed her sister for, which i thought was fitting

to expand the point; the hunter has a diary explaining he had tried all possible cure options to no avail. From Witcher 1 it's made clear true love could cure lycanthropy. So that part didn't materialize. Killing the werewolf is the most likely outcome.

I always killed the werewolf not because I thing he is wrong in killing the sister, but because I want that b*tch to live the rest of her life knowing she is the reason her sister AND lover died. My friend didn't agree and gave a good argument: the man deserves at least revenge on the scummy sister that tried break-up their marriage. And since he offers himself to be killed just shows he really lost everything. Personally I don't know what Geralt would choose but I think letting the sister live with the guilt is far more satisfying for me.
