That's insane! They actually fixed a lot from your list. I've would add monster trophies that have like the same boring bonuses, they don't have that unique feel like in W2. Another thing downgraded are mutagens, I mean c'mon red, blue and green when we had 8 types in W2 and to makes thing worse they are common as a drowner. Im not counting the specific monster mutagens cause they're pretty useless in the skill menu. And to fix it it's not like to redesign half of the quest.

Good to mention if all the relics (i know they aren't) are 2.5k/ea i have another 100k+ in just swords. If you really struggle for money, go to Toussaint. The Griffin Witcher armour set is actually the most realistic one. Cuirasses are supposed to make you look fat, that slope, roundness and fullness of the breastplate is what forces blows to glance, deflect off the plate. Worst cuirasses ever are the flat ones that look like roman muscle breastplates, as a flat surface is so easy to pierce. Same applies to tank armour BTW.
@J4D3R0532 жыл бұрын
No, the worst cuirasses ever are boob-plate, which literally directs the attack towards the center of your chest.
@jefersonmartins64712 жыл бұрын
Yep, its historical, and still people get mad at it! Like those round plates in chest near the armpit in some armours... There are people complaining about it too! But there are some mistakes too, like those 2H swords on Geralt's back! They made a more reliable way of taking it out in TW1, but TW2 / 3 they regressed.
@IndigoDesert62 жыл бұрын

@@jefersonmartins6471 Incorrect it was more unrealistically sheathed in W1. As a KZbinr has made videos on how you can legitimately make Back Holsters that could indeed carry a Sword and sheath/unsheathe...Still impractical and ahistorical but it can be done by the Human body. The W1 "solution" was no holster at all both swords hanging onto thin air/levitating behind Geralt in an X pattern. While he still grabs both with his right hand...The Silver blade is magically teleported to be able to be used in that hand without cutting himself you can even notice how the holstered model and used model have a flipped grip meaning even more impractically he flips the sword around. Neither make any sense there is no Anti-Gravity Defying Sign or Magic in Geralt's arsenal. Witchers are mutants but they can't overextend their bodies or break the laws of gravity/physics. That's more Ciri's thing for the latter. Really the design for the Sword Holsters is perfect in W2 and W3 besides that the swords tips clip through the sheath instead of go out the top. But the animation is fast playing so that's hard to pick up on unless you're trying to catch it. Not to mention people over look armor clipping all the time in video games. But none of the options are lore friendly as in the original works...Geralt doesn't use his Steel and Silver Swords at the same time. Nor is Silver used as often as in the books it's ONLY for Magical Monsters (not all of them like the games) and it's extremely brittle as an Silver Edge would be so to use it often would just break it. Instead he mostly uses a Steel sword for monsters and people then the Silver sword is in a case wrapped up to prevent damage from overexposure to the elements in the satchel on Roach. The devs didn't have a horse in W1 nor W2 so they did the back holstering for both. For W3 because it would be too annoying to always retrieve our Silver sword from Roach every time we encounter a monster if we had the Steel on hand instead and they established that all monsters require the Silver sword in the previous two games they repeated it even when they could be lore friendly. Gameplay practically over the lore realism. They made the right call there.

I wasn't aware that Reason of State was so heavily maligned in the community, but I absolutely agree. The Dandelion recount of those events in Djikstra's profile say something to the effect of 'He counted on Witcher neutrality to come into a play, a mistake that proved fatal.' But Djikstra knew that Geralt broke neutrality whenever it meant one of his friends was in danger. Hell, he JUST helped him bail all of the mages out of Novigrad for Triss. Not to mention Geralt was only getting involved with the assassination for the sake of those same friends. tl;dr: Djikstra was bizzarely out of character. Glad everyone agrees.

When Geralt initially refuses to take part in Dijkstra's plan, Dijkstra even explicitly calls out the "witcher neutrality" for being nothing but a convenient excuse to turn tails whenever things get hairy. The lack of closure on Vesemir's medallion drives me absolutely insane. Vesemir was a man Geralt knew for literally his entire life. His mother Visenna brought him to Kaer Morhen as a baby and for most of his life Geralt thought Vesemir was the one who gave him his name. Vesemir was a close friend, like a father in many ways to Geralt as well as a brother in arms. Geralt would absolutely want to get his medallion back. You know what really grinds MY gears?? The last quest in White Orchard, where you meet up in the tavern with Vesemir and a bar fight breaks out. No matter what you do, even if you only use your fists to knock them out, the fight always ends with a cutscene where Geralt dismembers the patrons and Geralt is seen as a butcher. The tavern owner even comes back to the story in the Priscilla concert and yells at him for being a murderer, and there's absolutely nothing that you can do to change the outcome. The part that bothers me the most is that the game always preaches about how sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils, but there is no choice here only a cutscene.

I will always ask myself what's wrong with people that pretends the game is so freaking open that every decision you take has to have some weird influence. At any point the game lets you chose in that scene. It's quite implied this is a fight for the dead. You wanted to fight fist? That's on you. But there's a plot to follow. Geralt and Vesemir, knowing better than you, used the swords and killed people. Using fist in a sword fight would be idiotic, especially against guards. Sure, you can do it in a game, and the solution then would be to make them immortal unless you use the sword, but then you'd have people complaining about not being able to beat the full game with fists. This era of drama-queens wanna-cry for everything is what really grinds MY gears.

The more you play it, the more flaws you´ll gencounter. It only took me like 2nd playthrough to notice, how sloppy is NPC movement, which often looks as if they didn´t know, how to walk. One major thing (at least for me), which wasn´t mentioned in the video: Geralt´s movement. Sometimes, you didn´t need candles to have difficulty looting chest. All it took was the freakin unresponsive, clunky Geralt controls, which required you to move around quite a lot, before you found the spot required to loot a chest. Or just moving around in narrow spaces. It may look realistic for you to have some momentum, but ffs it´s a game and a fantasy one! Also, looting chests. Isn´t it weird, that you can enter any building and loot anything you want, people owning the house wander around you and don´t freak out about you looting their modest property? Economy is totally weird in this game. You can carry almost anything (with mods ofc), but only sell a few items to any merchant at a time. Because they are constantly out of money!

@@Morpheus-pt3wq I think the looting issue you mentioned (having to find the sweet spot) is more of a problem in the witcher 2, I don't have that problem in 3. I highly disagree with your take. The Wild Hunt was represented as it should've been represented. A menace. It's not a Game of Gaythrones where you have a bunch of drama, and emotional garbage that takes you nowhere and eats hours of your life reading garbage that deep down you don't really care because it doesn't give anything to the plot. This is an adventure. An epic tale. What's important, is how dangerous the menace is, their objective, and how the protagonist, Geralt, sees himself trapped in there. His relationship with the Wild Hunt really doesn't matter. Sure, he rode with them, but it's quite obvious they didn't care much for him, as he didn't care about them. This wasn't a situation of friends fighting friends, but enemies fighting enemies. The personal connection was there. They were a threat, and they were dangerous for Ciri, which IS really important to the character. The story of Witcher 3 was perfection for the genre. Tiny flaws that you could question, but sure as hell the villain wasn't one of them.

What you said about Fringilla makes so much sense with regards to B&W. I found the short romance with Syanna so strange, and felt there was much more romantic tension between him and Annarietta. But Fringilla and him having had such good romance in the books when they were in Toussaint would have made so much sense for them to bring that back ~20 years later in the game

The stash gets extremely slow if it's too full but I'm not gonna throw the stuff away either. It's odd that games still implement such tedious things and even make them worse over time. Instead of being able to just sell my stuff to a vendor I have to either travel to many ,or wait and meditate ... it changes nothing, in the end but wastes time. Same with the gear repair. I guess it's supposed to be a money sling but quickly it becomes so cheap that it's absolutely no issue ... but you have to fix the damn swords every 10 minutes. Once again, nothing is archieved, but time is wasted.
@KossolaxtheForesworn Жыл бұрын
they clearly added more money on the toussaint merchants. tens of thousands of money on them to sell all of your crap on them. but for whatever reason they didnt upgrade the money on the base game merchants since that dlc came around. and of course the merchants that craft things dont offer the best prices on items, so despite you dropping hundred thousand on them to make armor, its pointless to try and sell anything when even the best gear goes for few bucks instead of the thousand the empty pocketed merchant would be offering for it.

As a book reader I'll add the absolute lack of mention of Milva and Angoulême only one throwavay line about Cahyr hurts quite a lot. Luckily Riegs features quite prominantly in Blood and Wine and Dandelion is in the main game, but for Geralt to not think more about people who saved his life in more ways than one and heled him save Ciri and Yen, doesn't sit right with me. People who he respected and was prepared to die for should have been mentioned more than as Gwent card...

I think there is a general problem with CDPR and the books, in Witcher 1 the plot is basically a copy of the plot of the books with Triss instead of Yen and Alvin instead of Ciri. Zoltan and Dandelion never mention Yen or Ciri to Geralt, yet they reference a lot of other stuff. Same in Witcher 2 (though not as bad) there's a lot referenced, but rarely relating to the main plot. Witcher 3 is literally continuing the plot of the books and yet you run into this same issue again. Ultimately I think the writers at CDPR included what they liked about the books and forgot about the rest (hence why Triss is pushed so hard as a romance option, thankfully they didn't make a cunt of Yennefer)

I've always been pretty disappointed with the presence of the Wild Hunt throughout the game. It was really implied in the trailers that they were essentially on the war-path. It would have been cool to see a dynamic similar to the random encounters with dragons in Skyrim. In this case, have the weather drastically change to a frigid setting and having a pair or triplet of riders come out of nowhere on the road to 'hunt' you (just like in the early game cutscene). That, maybe up the frequency as you progress major plot-lines, and have a village or two discovered burned would have been nice too. Something to make it feel like this was getting out of hand.
@totallynuts75952 жыл бұрын
HOOO Boy, do you have a hot take. Your suggestion would turn the Hunt into obnoxious roadblocks, just like what happened with the dragons in Skyrim. It would absolutely kill the pacing. Your complaint stems from the larger issue of pacing in open world games. The game's story is pretty much a race between you and the Hunt, it doesn't have enough breathing room to let you side quest, but it's an open world game meaning that at any point you can "pause" the main plot to play gwent for 100 hours and come back to the main plot and nothing would have changed. There are games that do this worse, but it's a flaw here as well.

I half agree with both of you here. Ik Im late to the party, but whatever. Dont think they need to be random NPCs scattered around, but I agree that the pacing of the Wild Hunt was wierd. They were set up as these massive villains, then you basically dont encounter them after early Velen until Kaer Morhen. And thats like 2/3 of the base game. Since after Kaer Morhen, things speed up immensely, they are kinda rushed, even. I always felt like these guys dont really had enough room to breathe. 16:16 I agree. In Vanilla Witcher 3, it really sucks that you can't track down he Weaveress and to kill her and get back the Medallion for Ciri. Thankfully, a mod called "Ciri's Lost Memento" addresses this pretty well by having you accompany Ciri in hunting down the Weaveress. That said, my biggest gripe with Vanilla Witcher 3 is how lonely the game feels once you beat the main story. You have all of these great characters that you get to interact with but they vanish out of existence once you beat the main story. It's only until after you beat Blood and Wine that you get to see Ciri, Yen, Triss, or Dandelion again. Much like with the lost memento, there is a mod that fixes this issue in a lore friendly way called "Multi Companion Enhanced". It's such a good QoL mod that livens the post game up.

Would be cool, the argument that it reverts back to a midgame state so players can finish quests doesn't sit right with me, loads of quests have cutoff points that fail them, are dozens of quests that fail after the Isles of mists. So for example, contracts given out by redanian soldiers, can either fail of nilfgaard wins and have to be completed before the last quest. It'd be cool to see nilfgaardian soldiers in novigard or nilfgaard camps destroyed

@L It’s definitely not laziness. Just like the video talked about, CDPR had to scrap a lot of ideas because they didn’t have the time to make them work and seeing the consequences of your actions on the world was probably something they simply didn’t have the time to do. It sucks and it’s definitely a flaw with the game but to call it lazy is pretty disingenuous.

Feel you on all them. Should have included Roach too. I hate Roach in the game. I just run everywhere. Plus, when you are trying to get out of any water on to land and instead of just stepping or climbing out, Geralt turns around and dives back into the water.

One of my minor complaints with The Crones is that I think they got killed rather anti-climatically. There's a ton of build-up to them in Velen and a slow-roll reveal of what they are and what they want. And Ciri and Geralt just go, "Wanna go gank 'em?" And they do. I found them interesting villains, but I was hoping for a more involved quest-line besides just showing up and boss fighting them.

The thing about armor making Geralt look "fat," medieval armor was actually made to have a rounded front, usually over the stomach area, specifically because it made it more likely to cause blows to glance to the side. So this is actually a case of more accurate armor design than most games have. Fantasy design, of course, is a different story, and artists are free to play with what looks good over what's practical. Like fantasy armors with gigantic shoulder pieces. A lot of them can look cool, but the entire point of shoulder pieces would be to make blades swinging down more likely to glance off AWAY from the neck, hence why actual armor would have high pieces near the neck and slope downward over the shoulder, and a lot of fantasy designs with lots of ornate grooves and such would actually either catch a blade entirely, or even make it more likely to slide into the neck.

The Blade from the Bits now upgrades with your level. It’s not the best at each level, but it’s on the higher end. Also there is a Castle Town fast travel marker, but I think it spawns when the barons storyline ends.

Oh, I remember that bridge. Made me hate that edge of the map, even though I managed to achieve a 95% not-dive consistency. And the questionmarks in the water: I ignore them. As for fall damage, I once saw Geralt die from a drop that wasn't even as high as his knee. Full health.

It’s a shame they seem to have cut so many Roche/Dijkstra/Iorveth related content. That would have been great. I loved Reason of State ( not the ending of course ) and would’ve been totally in for more of those guys. About Hattori, that guy’s quest line is also extremely difficult when you first arrive in Novigrad. I remember starting it because I thought it was a random plot device being like level 16, only to realise once I was already facing the dwarves that it requires you to be level 25. Those dwarfs were impossible to kill. I had to relaunch my safe.

I was stuck because the previous save file I had was all the way back in the inn at the crossroads, so I thought it would be best to just trudge through that quest on death march. I had to cheese them with axii, hoping for one shot kills, but I don't remember if that worked or not. Still though, it was extremely tedious and annoying

This. I was really annoyed that Roche was in the game but there was no trace of Iorveth anywhere to be seen. They also completely sidelined the Scoiatel after them having such a heavy presence in the previous two games. W3 just wasn't as satisfying for Scoiatel fans. I even foolishly hoped for some kind of Dol Blathanna DLC back in the day.

Loved the video -- and I agree with most points! Though, for the last one, I am torn a bit. While a quest to defeat Weavess, and put an end to that Coven once and for all, there is a poetic side to it. That medallion stands for Ciri and Geralt's relationship, as a mentor and an apprentice; and a foster-father and daughter. With his daughter gone, it seems like a far more necessary pursuit to retrieve that medallion: it's a keepsake, the last tangible thing for Geralt to hang onto, now that that relationship is dead and buried. It serves as poetic symbolism, in that sense.

Definitely agree with the diving bridge. A lot of the story cuts you bring up make me think that the problems in development of Cyberpunk started way way earlier with Witcher 3. Potentially the duct tape and staples that held the final Witcher game’s team together started to fray to the point where it wasn’t able to be worked around.

The really bad ones are the 2nd sword Crah gives you, the Hattori one, the one from Kaer Morhen if you clear the armoury, the cheese one and the sword on the bridge in Velen coud be good whit luck but mostly it isnt.

According to CDPR, they're moving the Crow's Nest fast travel point into the settlement for the Next-Gen update. The conflict with the scripted event is solved by having a villager putting-up the fast travel sign after the event happens. Nice little solution. Edit to add: There's also fixing fall damage!

The one that bothers me the most is probably when we get the popup that tell us "the world will be kept as if Radovid won" or something like that after doing all the work so that doesnt happen 😫😫 Always thought that a novigrad full of nilfgardians or with some change if Dijkstra gets in charge would be amazing.
@agnieszkachodkiewicz77952 жыл бұрын
I think the message says something like "the world will be reset to previous state", not that Radovid had won, but it's still exactly as bad. I particularly hate the witchhunter shouting on the market square. You just can't ignore them, they are so loud, and I need to go right past them every time I have some swords to sell. Luckily, mods are a thing. (I think my comment with the link got deleted, so if you want to find those mods search for "Consequences of War" on nexus mods

It´s a shame. Early game got soo much love (especially Baron quests) with some heavyweight decisions, while late game is full of convenient shortcuts of decisions with no added weight, only affecting certain characters and not the world itself. The "world be reset to previous state" is one of the worst, although it´s probably done to not have devs remake multiple areas on the map for just one-time use, as there was not much to do after you finished the base game. This all was probably done far before they even knew, what kind of story will Heart of Stone be.

About the Fringilla thing, I think you're right about her originally being part of Blood and Wine. You can find a note in Vizima I think, from Fringilla to Yennifer that mentions something about "Geralt always landing on his feet" back in the early part in the game. If I remember right, in that note, Fringilla mentions heading to Beauclair. I remember it stood out to me on one of my playthroughs because I thought it was clearly a setup for Blood and Wine.

I can't help but agree with all your points. First of all, it is sooo sad that there is nothing on Iorveth. He was such an amazing chatacter. Then how things end in Reason of State is really disappointing, it starts of so promising and ends in total disaster. And also the lodge so sad that you can't really interact with the sorceresses more. Yes, a Weavess quest would have been amazing. Loved the video;)

A pet peeve of mine is the fact that slightly too-high door steps have to be jumped over and the very dramatic stumble mechanic. Before the update, I was on a platform in the Devil's Pit about a meter and a half off the ground. Geralt stumbled on something, fell off the platform and I insta-died with full health. That sucked. After the update, I have trouble getting ladders to work properly but at least I can jump down them now.

About the Griffin Armor; I think the problem is that it is suppose to be a caster set, yet it makes him look bulky. If, say, the Bear Armor was bulky like that, I wouldn't have a problem with it (after all, that is the school based around direct combat), while I do expect the caster set to be somewhat more slim.
@garrettcooper58 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the bear armor isn’t even that bulky, especially compared to the griffin armor, yet the griffin is a lighter armor class. I also kinda wished that you could pick a cosmetic set because almost all the non Witcher gear is extremely ugly and bulky

Glad to find a video on this topic! I actually just finished playing for the first time, and found lots of the game really irritating. Not enough to stop me playing, but often you get to the end of a story, having tried to do everything right, only to get a terrible ending. The snippets of conversation choices often don't really let you know how the conversation will go, and sometimes veer off the opposite way from how it seems (eg Dushy died thanks to that). Ciri was gone at the end of my play, again from trying to do all the right things. And what about that quest with the woman who's turning into a bird? You have to betray her trust in order to get the best ending, ugh. Another time I was forced into playing a game of Gwent even though I have no interest in that part of the game, and then lost 5% of all my savings. I also would have gone with Triss over Yennifer, but choosing "Let's try again" was apparently a rejection. Then there's little things like regular crashing, though maybe that's just me. And things glowing after you've looted them. Some things glow until you get to them and then they stop and there's nothing to loot. The UI is super slow and tedious. There's no easy way to see where the nearest quest is or how far each quest is. You have to select each one in turn, go to world map, see where it is, then back to the quest view, then scroll to find the next one you want to test etc. The big update didn't fix any of these things, although at first it did make it impossible to save a game and made it almost unplayable.

Things I remember hating during my last playthrough: Missing dialogue, and missing or incorrect music. I remember missing dialogue really bothering me in Hearts of Stone. After meeting Vlodimir Von Everec and leaving his family crypt with him, several conversations with him started but the first line from Vlodimir was immediately cancelled so I didn't get to hear or see what he said. Then Geralt would respond but I would have no idea what the context was. The other thing that bothered me was when I was fighting Caranthir in the final act, and the game wouldn't load the epic theme that was reserved for this very fight, and instead would play generic fighting music. There were also small things, like having your bags full of stuff but being unable to sell them because every vendor runs out of money so quickly. I could have just deleted some of it, but that felt wasteful.
