I've been lifting for most of my adult life, consider myself a somewhat advanced lifter. That being said, i love watching your videos and reminding myself of the basics. It's so easy to lose touch, and focus on the weight instead of what's truly important. Technique. Great videos man, keep it up. 💪

I can tell you that your advice to push shoulders down, or push elbow to the ground and not shrugg shoulders as made a huge impact on my muscle mind connection and great results 💯 basically let the weight stretch your traps and feel that stretch during the entire range of motion freaking awesome

So happy to see this. I’ve lifted for years on and off but was always focused on form and no cheating (thanks dad 💪🏻) and I noticed people lifting heavier (and uglier) were underdeveloped compared to me. Safer and more effective. And in time I’m lifting heavy AND clean. Stop ego lifting guys. Great form and light weight lead to heavier weight with progressive overload

I did a little bicep training earlier before watching this video. I make sure my shoulders are depressed the entire time and I make sure my elbows are pinned near my side as I curl up the dumbbells. But what's interesting is that I recently tried slowing the dumbbell down as I curl up and down, and I noticed how harder it was. In fact, my biceps still feels like it is on fire now. Great tutorial!

Jonni my dude. Been lifting for 11 years now. This video helped me tremendously with biceps exercises. Your approach to training is very similar to mine. I have experimented with form with all muscles, trying to find what's optimal for me for growth and also for mind muscle connection. Biceps has really, even after 11 years, been the one muscle I just can't find solid form. I do exactly what you do in the video, moving elbow positions, etc to find what works. I took one major key from this video into my bicep day today. Letting the dumbell lower your traps and shoulders, depressing them down. This one tip blew up my bicep day. Seriously great info on all your training tip videos. I like the idea of communicating several ways that are acceptable for form, but also showing what mistakes on form will kill the exercise. It demonstrates a range where you as an individual can play with the form, finding what gets the best result but knowing what mistakes to avoid while doing so. Big props man!

Thank you for being honest and up front with the weight you're using. I've been stuck in the 30-35 lb range for bicep curls for a while. I would get ok pump no mater what but couldn't really progress in weight or reps. If you're working in that range then I feel pretty fine about it. I might even lower my weight a little and make sure I'm not stepping into ego lifting territory.

One of your best videos you’ve made, great points great explanation and demonstration. I don’t know a lot about how your views work for you tube. Yes I understand you get maybe a few more views with drama videos. I just do t feel you need to make very dramatic gossiping videos. AthleanX did not do that to get millions of subs. I know I don’t know that much about you tube views etc. Jonni you are good, the way you make your videos with exercises you will get the views. My friends also say your videos are well put together with the way you explain verbally, demonstrate etc. Dude you are so good with that stuff you don’t need to rely on drama videos. Thank you again

Cool video Jonni. I discovered flexing accidentally when I was a kid. I didn't have any weights but I figured out that if I flexed my arm up as if I was lifting the weight of the world I was doing something pretty impressive. I did it with biceps and triceps. Then I discovered trying to flex and holding it back with the other hand. I was this scrawny kid that got picked on until middle school when I was put in weight class because I played football. (I also bailed hay in the summers) When the coach was evaluating where each of us were at physically, my scrawny little arm had a hard and defined potato on it. He then paired us up with partners for bench pressing. The other middle school guys were doing good to hit the bar plus 10 lbs on each side. I started with 125 and kept adding weight. I got to 185 and fought like crazy but I pressed it 12 times. The other guys had come around and the coach came too. He said that that was a start but then said our max is what we could lift 12 times. I told him that I did and what I lifted on my way up to that point. He asked my spotter if that was true and of course he said yes. The coach said that none of his high school football players could do that. He started shaming them and as you probably guessed, they were the ones picking on me then but no middle school kids ever did again. It's truly remarkable what we can accomplish with the power of our minds and a lot of effort. I could also do 22 one arm pull-ups on each side, but that didn't count for anything since it wasn't part of that routine. Your video took me back 30 years in time to some good memories. Thanks!

The one thing I like to do, is pick up and use only a single dumbbell at a time. I then focus primarily on core tension to keep my torso as still as possible. The curls become almost an afterthought. As a result, there's no swinging or shrugging going on. But then, I train only for specific sports improvements, rather than for pure strength or muscle growth. I'm sure this would be very inefficient otherwise.

I just started doing seated incline curls a couple weeks ago for the first time (also doing wide grip ez curl preacher and hammer cable) and man can I feel it. It must be the stretch. But I'm hoping I didn't injure myself because my right bicep has had some discomfort ever since although not as bad this week. I didn't notice any pain during my last chest and bi wirkout and only used 22.5 lb dumbells anx didn't have to strain so wouldn't think I pulled anything. But still has me worried. Maybe Im getting too old to go as heavy as my right ham feels funny too and my low back and right hip has had dull aches on and off for about a year. I have to be careful with my left shoulder too as heavy flat bench and inclines aggravate it.

Yes but Jonni I was working my hips... Kidding, I went light on every set today. Three different exercises, 4 sets and 8-12 reps concentrating on the biceps flex and form. Bro, I think I will feel this one tomorrow. I work out at home but when I am in the gym I like to move a preacher bench in front of a low pulley, cable pull. No loss of tension at the top of the motion due to gravity. They always burn like a mutha.

Also keep in mind that biceps are pretty easy to overtrain and that the strain can hit you several hours after a workout. Years ago I did too many chin ups (not really my fault since my coach was having us do them) and didn’t realize how fatigued I was until they were sore for a week straight. Couldn’t properly extend them in that time. Even just a couple days ago, I went hard on biceps and ended up training just a tad too hard (I could feel that they were in a fragile state a couple hours after my workout).
