It won't allow me to get the download in my email. Says something went wrong. Try again. I'll use a new email. Same thing.

What kind of warm up routine are you doing? We typically jog/run, then stretch from legs up. Ham stretch, quad stretch, core, shoulder, then arm. (8u, machine pitch)

Question: At what age do you think it's acceptable to keep certain players in certain positions? In our local rec league, it mostly depends on the competition-level of the team we're playing at the time. If it's a good team, we keep our kids in positions they're best suited for (while rotating out pitchers due to pitch count). If it's a team that maybe isn't quite as competitive, we put some kids into positions maybe they've never seen during a game. All of that to ask: During practices where you're focused on infield vs outfield, do you have all kids practice all positions (outside of P, C, and 1B)?

Hi! When the season starts, I’ve always had the kids pick 3-4 positions they’d be interested in playing, and I combine that with my own assessments of where I think they’d be best suited. If they match up, then great! But if I think they’ll be a great outfielder and their list was all infield positions, I’ll tell them why I think they’d do well in the outfield and have them try it out in practice. I don’t think you have to put all players at every position, but I think if you see something in a player that they don’t see in themselves (I.e. they know they have a strong arm and are quick to the ball, they attribute that to shortstop. I attribute that to center field also, but they can’t see that.) then you have them try it out. I think each player having 3-4 positions they can play will serve them well in the future as they grow into a better ball player. I hope this helps!

Hey coach, I have stepped up to coach my 10/yo rec league this year. It’s a hybrid kid and coach pitch. I could really use some advice. We have 1 practice a week for only 1 hr. Some kids have played for 3 years and some are just learning the fundamentals of throwing and catching. In that 1hr, what do you think is most important? We only have 3 practices before our first game.

I would highly recommend aiming for 2 or 3 practices a week. If the kids are willing and eager to learn the more practice the better

One practice a week 😂 pointless

Fall ball rec league is like that---1 practice, 2 hrs

Stop being lazy and maybe take your kid out to the field on off days.
