If you haven't already, try Devil's Crush/Dragon's Fury, also on Genesis. It's the predecessor to Dragon's Revenge and it's the same basic formula, but more metal. I think they toned down the imagery for the sequel to avoid censorship issues

As a guy who's been diving into SEGA Genesis "hidden gems" video lists for a year and a half now, three out of these five were new to me, and I didn't mind the other two either, because I enjoyed the way you presented them. I'd say Dragon's Revenge is the most interesting to me of these five, but Zero Tolerance looks really impressive.

Oh man! I absolutely love the Strike series. They're one of the few that doesn't really feel particularly old, if anything they feel like modern-ish indie games. The way the helis control is so fun and responsive, the multiple objectives that you can tackle in any order, big open maps, I could go on... They hold up so incredibly well. I only discovered them a few years ago but I've beaten them all multiple times since.

Great list. These games bring back memories of how awesomely edge lordy the Sega library was. Now if only we could load it up with the Sega channel UI to complete the sega Genesis nostalgia 🤙

I've been enjoying Elemental Master lately - a fantasy take on bullet-hell. It's been announced recently that new Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, and Crazy Taxi games are in development. Here's hoping for something good. Never owned a console (until the Powkiddy V90 this year) due to my family's finances and the consoles' availability here in Eastern Europe. AFAIK, Genesis and Dendy (a NES knock-off from Taiwan) were the most popular here in the 90s... I eventually got my first PC, which was about as powerful then as the V90 is now, and played some old classics there, mostly enjoying old shooters, Diablo 1, and Mortal Kombat 3 and 4. I was beyond happy when, through a school buddy, I stumbled upon a Megadrive emulator with a bunch of ROMs - it opened a whole new world of gaming for me. And the games were beautiful, and ran well on that PC. Fell in love with beat'em-ups then, too. So, yeah, I was definitely a Sega kid, despite never owning it, lol. Still grateful for the memories.

As a sort of follow on to your video on setting up a emulator for a kid, would be good to know if you have a short list of the best games say up to snes/megadrive that are good games to introduce a young kid to games, using a controller, so like good games that have relatively simple controls, aren't too challenging. I'm thinking marble madness, arkanoid, bubble bobble, mario bros, super mario bros, maybe a racing game, a pinball game, soni1c 1, wonder boy, paper boy, california games, mickey mouse castle of illusion, zelda links awakening, Been tough to think of what would be the best really small set of games to put on an sf 2000 for a friends kid. and not overwhelm him with too much choice.

My favorites were Sega Aladdin, Quack Shot, World of Illusion. Yeah everyone's like Castle of Illusion, I like world better. Bigger sprites more animation, you can beat it in like an hour, also two different "stories" depending on who you pick. I thought Castle was too generic 90s platformer for that time. Especially when you go back and play a lot of 90s games that maybe you shouldn't play due to gray areas, and see it's very similar to a lot of 90s Arcade Platformers. Another great one with a fun quasi history lesson, Mickey Mania. Also came out for the Sega CD and I don't know what changes between the two besides soundtrack. Then our parents got us Alien 3 and Predator 2, neither are good.
