I'm not sure if I've already left this comment on another video but when I first watched this channel I didn't like it. I initially thought "Oh no...this guy is doing a voice...a character." But then when I watched them I realized his content is very good and he's better than a lot of other retro KZbinrs.

Ha! I thought the same! But the content is very well selected and text is well written. I can see that everything is very well made, the character and the voice match wonderfully with the mascot, the shirt sleeve, the text lines and the room props and cenography. That's work well done! Congrats!

Hi. Thank you so much for this video. This brings back lots of nostalgic memories. The og gameboy was the first system that I bought with my own money in college way back in 1992. The first game I played(besides tetris) was Quarth, an interesting puzzle game. Then there was Solomons Club, Solar Striker, and Nail n Scalez. Then finally I got Gearworks on sale for $6 at a used retro gaming store. It wasn't until much later that I saved enough to get Zelda Links Awakening and Final Fantasy Adventure. Please keep making these videos. All the best, Milton.

Gargoyles quest Motocross maniacs Boxxle Daedaliun Opus Some of my favorites here, but not sure if they are "hidden gems" Gargoyles quest: my favorite game boy game with a great soundtrack. You are a gargoyle fighting through the ghoul realm. Pay it until you get though the first dungeon boss and you'll know whether or not you like it for sure. Motocross maniacs: motorcycle racing. If you save up enough *"Jets"* you can literally _fly_ through the last lap. Boxxle. Puzzle game. Moving boxes in a warehouse in tight spaces. Daedaliun Opus. Puzzle game with tetris-like pieces filling a predefined space. You get more pieces as you progress through levels. And there are four letter passwords to save your progress level two level. It's fun to try to guess some of the passwords. The last password in the game totally makes sense. And taught me the meaning of the word for the first time as a child.

Psh my last 2 years of university as a 35 year old was TWO HOURS EACH WAY. Ill just gloss over the fact that over half of it each day was spent on the lovely puget sound ferries, basically sitting in a floating cafe, watching for orcas and seeing an occasional nuclear submarine sail past. Tooooootal misery.

I know no one is going to see this, but the lack of a full color pallet and instead using a smaller set of colors, actually really POPS to me. Trip world and Monster Max and several other gameboy games look so stylized. I really want to see this stylization in another medieval style game. With gothic backgrounds. I’m sure something like that exists.

Great video! I'm so old that I remember when the game Revenge of the Gator came out and I bought it at my neighborhood store! It appears to be the precursor to Kirby's Pinball from Hal laboratory. Nowadays it's hard to believe how complete fun and long-lasting video games were made for less size than what a photograph on a smartphone occupies us today!! Here's a little challenge for you. Is there a handheld specifically for game boy or game boy color games that has a slightly bigger display? My eyesight's really bad. Yet I still like to be able to put it in my hand and play it which I can't do with the original system anymore because I need a bigger screen that let me know if you know and if not. Still, thanks for these cool videos. I'm going out of Ben's tonight. You make my day.

As soon as I finished this video I turned on my rp2+ and played some Boxxle, so I guess that would be my suggestion to anyome who hasn't played it. Not the rarest recommendation but a fun way to kill a few minutes at a time, a precision movement puzzle box-sliding game that was commonly known in its day but didn't carry forward into the "graphics=gaming" generation. Mind you I came out the same year star wars did, '77, so I tease the kiddos about the tech demos they call games with zero concern for that ole timey thing we dinosaurs call "actual fun". That's why I've always been a Nintendo guy, they've kept up with fun while others were keeping up with the Jonses. But I digress ad naseum, different strokes and all, hopefully my bonus mentions of Wave Race and Operation C will help smoothe things over. Cheers!

Video idea if your ever want to mix things up - headphones for gaming to pair with handhelds. Lots of people use headphones while gaming and anything labeled as "for gaming" is almost universally junk. And the people who review proper headphones and IEMs are almost universally not gamers (and no retro gamers at all), so theres a big group of people who would benefit from Id recommend some inexpensive options for starters - the koss kph40i are super 80s retro looking (you can even buy orange ear pads by yaxxi to finish the 80s look - theyre sold for the other retro styled headphones, the porta pro, but fit both) headphones that sound incredible, especially for ~$40 Also for more modern games on stuff like the steam deck, the cvj Konoka. A tiny vibration motor that gives explosions and stuff a ton of texture without being too bassy. Cable is kinda weak, but a replacement by trn calles the "redchain" is $12, and the iems are only $20. I keep these with my steam deck, and i have stiff costing $1000+. Not good for retro games, but for modern stuff, theyre insane. A pair of earbud style headphones - the niceHCK EB2s, $25 and theyre built amazingly, sound incredible, and come in a bunch of colors. A cheap bluetooth set with surprisingly good ANC is the moondrop space travel for $25. Pair with the deck, a phone, higher end handhelds, etc. For the money, they sound superb, and the gaming latency is excellent. And lastly, the moondrop chu II. IEMs that just do everything nearly perfectly, with no drawbacks in music, gaming, retro or modern, etc. for $18. right angle cable also plays nicely with handhelds. I keep these and the eb2s with my retro handhelds, and occasionally bust out the orange kph40's as well.
