Kolkata , Goa , pondicherry and most eastern and western Indian states are extremely westernized and prim when compared to the "india" that most people outside is acquainted with , nobody here likes vegetarian food , people are well off and religion is not given much scruples .

Sonny somehow you have picked the most unhygienic places for the various street food options, there are various other places which serve the same cuisine but with way more hygiene, I hope you didn't have any of these😅. And yes thanks for covering dal tadka which in Bengal is cooked way different than rest of India. Eggs and in some cases chicken are a welcome addition to the dal.

India is definitely on my list of top ten places to visit one day. China, on the other hand, is at the bottom of my list due to concerns about their use of gutter oil. While India may not have the highest food safety standards, they seem far better in comparison to China's reputation in this regard.

There is no food safety and regulatory in india anyone can open a restaurant in any street any road and corner but in China you have to get a licence and food safety certificate first and food inspectors are checking them regularly and restaurant workers have to use proper equipments, meanwhile Chinese food is way more popular than indian food, every major restaurant chain in world have Chinese food in their menu.

There are literally thousands of videos depicting Chinese people making fake food, reusing uneaten food left by customers and passing it on to the next, and using gutter oil, among other practices. The truth is, eating in China is far more dangerous than eating in India. In Australia, Chinese food isn't as popular as it used to be. Most people would prefer butter chicken over chop suey any day.

If you are in kerala, you can enjoy kerala porotta and beef rost every corner here.. veggies are traditional but something like mom they dont eat it but they eat egg and whole sea food.. except pork i can eat anything under mankind..

Mughlai is good but personally Anglo-indian and other European hybrid Bengali dishes and indo Chinese ( tāng ra ) are also top tier .

Absolutely no, traditional bengali cuisine is still the best. After that will be both the Mughlai/ Awadhi inspired cuisine (or the muslim cuisine, no idea what else can be called muslim cuisine) and Chinese cuisine (authentic at Chinatown and the Indo-Chinese), both at the second spot. Third would be the Anglo-Indian based cuisine that Kolkata is famous for.

All the anglo Indian cafes, many bengali restaurants and all Chinese, Indo-chinese and tibetian restaurants sell pork and they are massively popular especially among this generation.
