What about lost musicals/plays? The nature of musicals or plays is that a version of them is preformed every night, and after that, that specific version doesn’t exist afterwards. unless pro-shots are released officially or there’s bootlegs of it. So I feel like lost musicals or lost versions of musicals would be an interesting topic.

And while not high art, there's a lot of lost artwork in terms of animation cels that never survived. I once read that a LOT of Rocky and Bullwinkle animation cels were thrown out because Jay Ward supposedly kept a stack of them on his desk and his secretary or cleaning lady got disgusted by it. I'm sure there are other examples of animations that lost their cels before everyone realized they were worth something.

@@user-fe8gx3ie5v Then that makes cryptobros' taste in art completely trashed
@relo9992 жыл бұрын
@@user-fe8gx3ie5v Not really, it's an amazing tool to launder money as art inherently doesn't have a fixed value and a pretty poor expected value and no need for creative accounting. Meanwhile a business to launder money is only really useful if you require a continual way to launder roughly the same amount of money each month. The vast majority of big art deals also aren't "fine art", it's regular "art" often from some unknown, B-rank or "family off rich person X" artist often with a notably "modern art" direction. And do you really think a banana taped to a wall or a canvas painted a singular color by an unknown artist really has a stable value? A Rembrant or Van Gogh keeps it's value quite well (unless said artist falls out of favor), but Johnny 2-Toe's painted hand turkeys don't keep their value.

Get famous for stealing art 5. Get out of jail 6. Write a book 7. Sell book (and maybe steal more art on the side) 8. Repeat until profit from bestsellers outweighs fines

It was commissioned to commemorate the American bicentennial in the 70s, and put together by local artists, on the walls of the Frosty Acres frozen food building in the Ignacio neighborhood, which was visible when driving north on U.S. 101. Lost media: (?) does anyone else remember seeing ads for a planned squidbillies spin-off airing "this fall" starring boyd the cashier at the convenience store, I believe it was going to be called "the clerk"? But I don't remember the title for sure It seemed so absurd that I thought it was a joke, but I remember the ad running for several months. I vividly remember a few details from the commercial: At one point they say that "the series is created by Squidbillies creators David Willis and jim Fortier", but instead of showing a picture of either of them on-screen, it shows a picture of a crowded Beach, and then they Circle them way in the back of the photograph as a joke It didn't have any clips of the supposed series, it just had a new piece of animation of Boyd standing at his cash register saying something along the lines of "hello y'all" after the commercial's narrator introduces him I don't know what year this was, but I think the the commercial ended with the statement "airing this fall" so they must have been running during the winter spring or summer. And that's the last I ever heard of it. I never looked into it any further. Adult Swim loves to pull elaborate pranks on their audience but creating a fake TV show and then airing the commercials for it for half a year seems like a little weird even for them cx I tried to look into this couple months ago and couldn't find anything but maybe I just missed something obvious

And the book ends very openly with him continuing his journey to find her even though he likely never will He also falls in love with a 15 year old girl who like him is just inexplicably really small. They go on a date but it gets ruined by bullies. So not too long ago I came across a very old advertisement at a Cracker Barrel for a movie about Joan of Arc. When I pointed it out to my friend they were curious about it and so was I. It looked old but I was still confident with the information available I would be able to quickly find it. I was wrong. It took me some time to find the right words to search and discover its origin as an Italian film (now knowing the year of production being 1913 makes it so much easier) and it's reportedly the first film about Joan of Arc. The Italian name being Giovanna d'Arco. During my search I couldn't find much English information about the film. There is some from Google books, a few screen shots scattered around the web but the consensus based on info gathered and from the Italian wiki and other places the film is now lost. But there isn't much talk about it in the English world. I dunno, maybe there is something you can look into

OK, I am only 37 seconds in and I need to say that I strongly disagree with your statement on recorded music: *"A recording can be a great representation, and can make the art more accessible; but something is lost in the conversion process". Modern music (music made during the 1960's and onwards) used studio recording technics, theory and principles to create an art form that cannot be replicated live. Albums such as Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, multiple Beatles albums such as SPLHCB and of course multiple Pink Floyd albums. Don't get me wrong, classical music and big band/gospel etc were recorded onto 45's and 78's simply as a recording of the written music and yes; played live compared to the recording you are losing something. But 99.9% of musical art relies solely on the 'recorded album' as the art; as the finished piece. Playing it live is simply a way to express it in front of an audience and provide the music they wrote as an experience. Listening to Cursive's: The Ugly Organ live compared the actual intended way it was meant to be listened to (as a concept album) would be like night and day. The album IS the art itself (in fact the album is incredibly meta, as some of the songs are describing the art of writing an album and presenting the finished work as an art piece). Take for instance Mount Eerie's album "A Crow Looked at Me". A collection of songs written by Phil Elvrum that are raw and deeply intimate retellings of moments and feelings surrounding his wives passing from Cancer. He may play some of those songs live, but they were written and recorded as a single work of art. As the album "A Crow Looked at Me". Sure, you could say that Steve Albini intended his album 1000 Hurts to be listened to on a record player to get the intended effect, but thats just the medium for playing the album. Either way, the recorded album is the art piece itself, be it played on a 2nd gen iPod or not. So yeah, I'm sorry; when the musician Leyland Kirby (AKA The Caretaker) wrote six albums; each one representing the stages of dementia, if you heard that live, it would not have the intended effect that the original piece was trying to convey. I don't just disagree with what you said; but I'd say that you are objectively wrong in that statement. Uh... Sorry about the rant. NFT's suck. lol

Revisiting this video and only just now reading other comments, I noticed a few dissuading looking at the art looted by the Nazis because of them being weird, abstract stuff. That is quite literally EXACTLY the Nazi ideology of "degenerate" art. If you do ever talk about art stolen by the Nazi regime, I hope you can touch upon the degenerate art ideas and how it was another way of quashing that which they deemed unworthy of life. I think there is very little art that is unworthy of being seen at least once or twice, even if it's art I personally don't like (the only exceptions I can think of are like, Marilyn Manson's unreleased movie or such-- stuff I think you already had a video on!). R. Mutt would not approve of silly little youtube commenters saying art, even "bad" art, isn't worth even documenting.
