I want to refer to a book called 'Quiet: The power of Introverts in a world that Can't Stop Talking' by Susan Cain. It was great and useful to me because it helped me knowing myself.

Thank you so, so much for this! As someone who has a stammer, I have often felt voiceless and worried about how other people will perceive me when I speak (Will I take too long or will they be able to hear me), but being ourselves is the most important thing and as stammerers, we have so much to say that deserves to be heard!!

I have always been told that I'd "make" a good public speaker, perhaps because I am interested in diverse topics and have opinions and feelings about many things. I like to share and discuss thoughts and ideas, and maybe this is where the idea of me being a good public speaker comes from. I am, however, not a natural public speaker, and it feels like more pressure when I am in a position where I am expected to speak up. It can feel incredibly lonely, as though I am letting myself down because I am filled with the thoughts, opinions and feelings that are more comfortably shared in smaller circles. I have learnt over the years that we all can and should express ourselves the way we wish to, and how we can best convey our hearts and message. Sometimes that needs to be in a public space, but it can also happen using other mediums. My KZbin channel has helped me explore this more. I wonder where it will take me in the years to come. This video with Elif Shafak truly resonated with me and made me feel more sure that expressing ourselves is a natural part of our humanity, but it doesn't have to be in the way others expect it to be. Thank you for this.

My greatest fear is to trade my authenticity for approval. Your Ted Talk and Videos like this one enabled me to see beyond my own limitations and to find a way how I can be more aware of this behaviour and what I can do to in the end prevent it. You are an incredible human being. Thank you for empowering us to speak our truths and to see or at least try to see the true nature of others. With all my respect, Janette

Thank you so much for this Janette! I've always been introverted and just like you I always felt like I couldn't express myself in a crowd. Probably because of past traumas of facing racism and homophobia, feeling like I didn't matter. When I was younger I noticed I would put up a front and act like I thought other people wanted me to act but when I got older I realized there is power in being authentic and different because at the end of the day we are all human and have a voice/ story. The arts and dance was always a safe space for me to express myself, just like your safe space were books. 💛✨️🤙🏾

It is lovely to listen to your words, same time I feel bad when you always put differences between women and men, .. Yes I agree, many in this sick scocity treat women bad, but at end we are all human, woman and man both can be introvert for example, both suffering that ..

Beautiful Elif first of all I like the softness of your voice, it s a very rare beauty (reminds me voice of Emel Sayin, once my favorite turkish vocalist " Yagdir Mevlam Su", feminine, quiet-soft, emotional) be relaxed speaking in public have a path of practice behind; I like the kind of explanation you give and appreciate works much asking real meaning of terms and definitions. I m lucky be an omnivert, but still not easy speaking in public Thanks a lot for sharing ❤️

I am really glad to see that you have even a KZbin channel. I first bought one of your books which was recommended on a website among books to read on Rumi- The forty rules of love :). I first read the last page on Dreaming in English and those words just were speaking out of me so much as well as the first few pages that I read that I piqued my curiosity to know who that writer is. To my delight I found a bunch of videos on KZbin with very interesting subjects and then I landed on your channel with highly interesting content as I myself love languages, etymology of words as well as psychology and your videos provide just an amazing blend of all three with a concern for the society as whole. Lately I set myself on a journey of 'connecting' with others through books and writers and I realised that those books with whose language and perception I could totally identify with were INFJs according to the MBTI personality typology, a type that I believe would also describe you best.

Dear Ma'am, you always find the most beautiful way to put your thoughts in words. As an introvert, I find this video very inspiring as you seem to have given voice to every introvert who finds it difficult to articulate oneself.
