As a public school teacher in lower income area, I would play classical music in the morning before and during students arriving and getting settled. Then in their private personal reading time I would play it very softly. It helped me and them stay calm. Then after the children left I would play it just for me while I reorganized and planned for the next day. I am retired now and love your videos.

I had forgotten that way back in ninth grade in PE we had a relaxation time at the end of class sometimes when there would be soft music and we were told to concentrate on relaxing our scalp...and then our forehead, ears, eyebrows, eyes, jaw, lips etc. all the way down to our toes. It was very surprising how focusing our mind's eye on each part of our body was significant to how relaxed we became.

Jennifer, Thank you for reminding us to be good to ourselves. I've been working since age 17 and I would love to explore a diiferent way to work. It's not that I hate my job as a nurse, but I'm required to work 12, 14, 16 hour shifts, which was OK in my 30s, but not at this time in my early 50s. It seems that I'm always pouring out to my patients and my husband and it's so hard for me to create and maintain a nice home. Thank you for encouraging us in so many ways. I have tried to listen to some other youtubers in the home/lifestyle/personal development space, but some of the ladies seem to be nearly preaching at women and even saying rude things to folks who are at least trying to improve. So many things set you apart, but my favorite thing is that you have such a calm and inspiring way of suggesting a different way of looking at things as well as alternate ways of doing them. You are so good at guiding and encouraging and you are such a blessing!

There's been many tough days. 😅 Drawing is an essential part of my identity and I need to reclaim that. Adding time to relax and spend on myself/art should be added to my chores. I always feel like I need to be doing chores constantly. I never used to be like that but since I started a family.... You know how it feels, Jennifer. 😅 I also want to start journaling again like I did in highschool and get back into using IG. 💙

Speaking of caffeine… I have switched over to using Nespresso Vertuo decaf and half caf pods and I feel so much better. Jennifer - I cannot thank you enough for bringing Paula's Choice beauty products to my attention! I have been trying to break up with Mary Kay products for years, because they are such a pain to order with, sales reps are flakey, and as I am entering my mid 30s and have baby #4 on the way, their products have went from being life changing to only "meh" for my tired, dry, sensitive skin. I ordered a travel kit to try out the Resist line of PC, and I LOVE IT so much!! My skin looks better in just days than it has in years. And it feels healthier most importantly. Thank you so much!! Because I have had sensitive, redness prone skin since I was very young, proper skincare is one of few luxuries I allow for myself, and so it is really important to me to use good quality products 😀

Thank you Jennifer! I appreciate your videos and learn so much. My question is this- regarding the amount of work and the load you had in your 30's do you think the rest discussion is applicable to someone trying to do more with their life than homemaking and raising children? I find it a lot of work to just get homemade healthy meals on the table along with a clean house and my children to feel loved and taught good values and morals! How do we go about pursuing those extra things and take the time to properly rest. Do you think it could have been attainable in your 30s knowing what you know now?

I think many people underestimate the power of breathing exercises. I hadn't heard of cocoon breathing before, but I've had great results at deep breathing exercises. The biggest game changer for me was when I placed more focus on exhalation and making sure I exhaled enough air. Anxiety symptoms like hyperventilation can be caused by a build up of CO2, basically you aren't exhaling enough. So sometimes when people try deep breathing exercises, they focus too much on inhaling deep breaths and forget to exhale fully, making their anxiety even worse. So don't forget to exhale as much (or more) than you inhale!

I would definitely like to see a Part 2 . . . For too long now, "romanticism" has become non-existent in my daily life. I do NOT mean that I want more romance (re: memorable date nights). I'm speaking about my choice of literature. My overlooked tea time where I also used to place fresh flowers and a special blend of calming essential oils along side my pot of tea that sat there on the table. My intentional selection of soothing background music. I could continue on, but enough said. I just need to bring that back into my life😔.
